The rapid development of ultrahigh‐capacity alloying or conversion‐type anodes in rechargeable lithium (Li)‐ion batteries calls for matching cathodes for next‐generation energy storage devices. The high volumetric and gravimetric capacities, low cost, and abundance of iron (Fe) make conversion‐type iron fluoride (FeF2 and FeF3)‐based cathodes extremely promising candidates for high specific energy cells. Here, the substantial boost in the capacity of FeF2 achieved with the addition of NiF2 is reported. A systematic study of a series of FeF2–NiF2 solid solution cathodes with precisely controlled morphology and composition reveals that the presence of Ni may undesirably accelerate capacity fading. Using a powerful combination of state‐of‐the‐art analytical techniques in combination with the density functional theory calculations, fundamental mechanisms responsible for such a behavior are uncovered. The unique insights reported in this study highlight the importance of careful selection of metals and electrolytes for optimizing electrochemical properties of metal fluoride cathodes.  相似文献

Tracing the trajectory of scientific fields has been recognized by informaticians, nonetheless, little effort has been dedicated to understanding the evolution of the fast-moving research field of transport, quantitatively and qualitatively. This paper identifies intellectual turning points and emerging trends in the area of transport. Using bibliometric methods, co-keyword networks, journal co-citation networks, highly cited categories, and country and institute networks are detected, visualized and discussed. To conduct this analysis, all publications (35,712) in 23 top journals in the field of transport are extracted from the Institute for Scientific Information (Web of Science). The output of this article could be a valuable source for academics and practitioners working in the field of transport planning and those who work in the areas having a strong relationship with transport issues including mathematicians, economics, operation research, management and geography.  相似文献

This study demonstrates how social network analysis, specifically ego-network analysis, can be used as a methodology to investigate the degrees of the isolation, insularity, and prestige of academic journals in a particular field in relation to other fields. Using the example of journals in public administration for illustrative purposes, we analyze the network of connections between journals in this field and the ones in two related fields: political science and business/management. Earlier studies found that the research in public administration was largely isolated from the three disciplines that were its foundations: law, management, and political science. Using ego-network analyses and ratio calculations from the Web of Science citation data, we found that the top journals of public administration were indeed relatively isolated in the years 2005, 2010, and 2015. Of the public administration journals, Public Administration Review (PAR) and the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART) were increasingly more recognized (less isolated and became more prestigious) among the journals in other fields. This methodology can be applied to the journals in other fields to study the relations between fields, particularly the relative academic prestige of the fields, in terms of journal citations.

The effect of temperature on product formation during the sulphonation of indigo with concentrated sulphuric acid and 30 % fuming sulphuric acid was studied with the aid of high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) analysis. Trisulphoindigo was prepared by the sulphonation of indigo with concentrated sulphuric acid at 160°C. The di- and tetra-sulphoindigo side products formed during the reaction were removed by preparative HPLC to yield a product of high chromatographic purity. The trisulphoindigo content of the food dye FD & C Blue No. 2 and the purity of commercially available trisulphoindigo were determined by HPLC analysis.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of substrates (compounds I – III ) for leukocyte esterase (LE) that react with LE yielding anodic current in direct proportion to LE activity. The kinetic constants Km and kcat for the enzymatic reactions were determined by amperometry at a glassy carbon electrode. The binding affinity of I – III for LE was two orders of magnitude better than that of existing optical LE substrates. The specificity constant kcat/Km was equal to 2.7, 3.8, and 5.8×105 m ?1 s?1 for compounds containing the pyridine ( I ), methoxypyridine ( II ), and (methoxycarbonyl)pyridine ( III ), respectively, thus showing an increase in catalytic efficiency in this order. Compound III had the lowest octanol/water partition coefficient (log p=0.33) along with the highest topological surface area (tPSA=222 Å2) and the best aqueous solubility (4.0 mg mL?1). The average enzymatic activity of LE released from a single leukocyte was equal to 4.5 nU when measured with compound III .  相似文献

Background

The cardiovascular effects of pulmonary exposure to engineered nanomaterials (ENM) are poorly understood, and the reproductive consequences are even less understood. Inflammation remains the most frequently explored mechanism of ENM toxicity. However, the key mediators and steps between lung exposure and uterine health remain to be fully defined. The purpose of this study was to determine the uterine inflammatory and vascular effects of pulmonary exposure to titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nano-TiO2). We hypothesized that pulmonary nano-TiO2 exposure initiates a Th2 inflammatory response mediated by Group II innate lymphoid cells (ILC2), which may be associated with an impairment in uterine microvascular reactivity.

Methods

Female, virgin, Sprague-Dawley rats (8–12 weeks) were exposed to 100 μg of nano-TiO2 via intratracheal instillation 24 h prior to microvascular assessments. Serial blood samples were obtained at 0, 1, 2 and 4 h post-exposure for multiplex cytokine analysis. ILC2 numbers in the lungs were determined. ILC2s were isolated and phosphorylated nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-?B) levels were measured. Pressure myography was used to assess vascular reactivity of isolated radial arterioles.

Results

Pulmonary nano-TiO2 exposure was associated with an increase in IL-1ß, 4, 5 and 13 and TNF- α 4 h post-exposure, indicative of an innate Th2 inflammatory response. ILC2 numbers were significantly increased in lungs from exposed animals (1.66?±?0.19%) compared to controls (0.19?±?0.22%). Phosphorylation of the transactivation domain (Ser-468) of NF-κB in isolated ILC2 and IL-33 in lung epithelial cells were significantly increased (126.8?±?4.3% and 137?±?11% of controls respectively) by nano-TiO2 exposure. Lastly, radial endothelium-dependent arteriolar reactivity was significantly impaired (27?±?12%), while endothelium-independent dilation (7?±?14%) and α-adrenergic sensitivity (8?±?2%) were not altered compared to control levels. Treatment with an anti- IL-33 antibody (1 mg/kg) 30 min prior to nano-TiO2 exposure resulted in a significant improvement in endothelium-dependent dilation and a decreased level of IL-33 in both plasma and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.

Conclusions

These results provide evidence that the uterine microvascular dysfunction that follows pulmonary ENM exposure may be initiated via activation of lung-resident ILC2 and subsequent systemic Th2-dependent inflammation.

This article proposes a bi‐criteria formulation to find the optimal location of light rapid transit stations in a network where demand is elastic and budget is constrained. Our model is composed of two competing objective functions seeking to maximize the total ridership and minimize the total budget allocated. In this research, demand is formulated using the random utility maximization method with variables including access time and travel time. The transit station location problem of this study is formulated using mixed integer programming and we propose a heuristic solution algorithm to solve large‐scale instances which is inspired by the problem context. The elastic demand is integrated with the optimization problem in an innovative way which facilitates the solution process. The performance of our model is evaluated on two test problems and we carry out its implementation on a real‐world instance. Due to the special shape of the Pareto front function, significant practical policy implications, in particular budget allocation, are discussed to emphasize the fact that the trade‐off between cost and benefit may result in large investments with little outcomes and vice versa.  相似文献

The availability of different forages varies across landscapes, but little is known about how proportional consumption of different foods affects food intake and the use of landscapes. The relative amounts of nutrients and plant secondary metabolites (PSM) consumed by herbivores may influence forage intake and animal fitness in landscapes dominated by plants with PSM. Our objective was to determine if the relative availability of nutritious foods that contain PSM affected food preference and intake by lambs. Lambs in three treatments (eight lambs/treatment) were offered two PSM-containing foods at different relative availabilities: treatment 1—ad libitum terpene- and 100-g tannin-containing food, treatment 2—ad libitum tannin- and 100-g terpene-containing food, and treatment 3—ad libitum access to both tannin- and terpene-containing foods. We measured intake of individual foods and total intake of PSM-containing foods during conditioning and a preference test, where animals were offered both PSM-containing foods ad libitum. When lambs were fed 100 g of the tannin-containing food, they ingested more terpene and total PSM (P < 0.05) than when both PSM were offered ad libitum, but limiting terpenes did not affect intake of tannin or total intake of PSM (P > 0.10). During preference tests, all groups preferred tannins over terpenes, but lambs in the treatment fed 100 g of tannin had a higher preference for terpenes than did lambs in the other two treatments (P < 0.10). These results support the notion that the relative amounts of PSM consumed affects intake and preference for PSM-containing foods by herbivores.  相似文献

Platelets, cellular mediators of thrombosis, are activated during sepsis and are increasingly recognized as mediators of the immune response. Platelet activation is significantly increased in sepsis patients compared to ICU control patients. Despite this correlation, the role of activated platelets in contributing to sepsis pathophysiology remains unclear. We previously demonstrated NOD-like receptor protein 3 inflammasome (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in sepsis-induced platelets from cecal-ligation puncture (CLP) rats. Activated platelets were associated with increased pulmonary edema and glomerular injury in CLP vs. SHAM controls. In this study, we investigated whether inhibition of platelet activation would attenuate NLRP3 activation and renal and pulmonary injury in response to CLP. CLP was performed in male and female Sprague Dawley (SD) rats (n = 10/group) to induce abdominal sepsis and SHAM rats served as controls. A subset of CLP animals was treated with Clopidogrel (10 mg/kg/day, CLP + CLOP) to inhibit platelet activation. At 72 h post-CLP, platelet activation and NLRP3 inflammasome assembly were evaluated, IL-1β and IL-18 were measured in plasma, and tissues, renal and pulmonary pathology, and renal function were assessed. Activated platelets were 7.8 ± 3.6% in Sham, 22 ± 6% in CLP and significantly decreased to 14.5 ± 0.6% in CLP + CLOP (n = 8–10/group, p < 0.05). NLRP3 inflammasome assembly was inhibited in platelets of CLP + CLOP animals vs. CLP. Significant increases in plasma and kidney IL-1β and IL-18 in response to CLP were decreased with Clopidogrel treatment. Renal injury, but not lung histology or renal function was improved in CLP + CLOP vs. CLP. These data provide evidence that activated platelets may contribute to sepsis-induced renal injury, possibly via NLRP3 activation in platelets. Platelets may be a therapeutic target to decrease renal injury in septic patients.  相似文献

The success of biomaterials for bone regeneration relies on many factors, among which osseointegration plays a key role. Biogran (BG) is a bioactive glass commonly employed as a bone graft in dental procedures. Despite its use in clinical practice, the capability of BG to promote osseointegration has never been resolved at the nanoscale. In this paper, we present the workflow for characterizing the interface between newly formed bone and BG in a preclinical rat model. Areas of bone–BG contact were first identified by backscattered electron imaging in a scanning electron microscope. A focused ion beam in situ lift-out protocol was employed to prepare ultrathin samples for transmission electron microscopy analysis. The bone–BG gradual interface, i.e. the biointerphase, was visualized at the nanoscale with unprecedented resolution thanks to scanning transmission electron microscopy. Finally, we present a method to view the bone–BG interface in three dimensions using electron tomography.  相似文献
