Degradation of free-standing yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and CoNiCrAlY coatings (300 μm) due to V2O5 and a laboratory-synthesized CMAS was investigated at temperatures up to 1400 °C. Reactions, phase transformations, and microstructural development in coatings were examined by using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The molten deposits destabilized the YSZ and reacted with the thermally grown oxide with various phase transformations and reaction product formation. A dense, continuous environmental barrier overlay, based on oxides, applied by electrophoretic deposition was effective in mitigating the molten deposit attack. Enriching CMAS composition with Al promoted the crystallization of anorthite platelets and MgAl2O4 spinel, and mitigated CMAS ingression. EPD MgO overlay was also effective in protection against V2O5 melt by formation of magnesium vanadates. EPD alumina overlay deposited on thermal barrier coatings with APS 8YSZ and bond-coated IN939 superalloy retained its adhesion and structural integrity after prolonged furnace thermal cycle test at 1100 °C. 相似文献

Abstract: This article addresses the problem of a traffic network design problem (NDP) under demand uncertainty. The origin–destination trip matrices are taken as random variables with known probability distributions. Instead of finding optimal network design solutions for a given future scenario, we are concerned with solutions that are in some sense "good" for a variety of demand realizations. We introduce a definition of robustness accounting for the planner's required degree of robustness. We propose a formulation of the robust network design problem (RNDP) and develop a methodology based on genetic algorithm (GA) to solve the RNDP. The proposed model generates globally near-optimal network design solutions, f, based on the planner's input for robustness. The study makes two important contributions to the network design literature. First, robust network design solutions are significantly different from the deterministic NDPs and not accounting for them could potentially underestimate the network-wide impacts. Second, systematic evaluation of the performance of the model and solution algorithm is conducted on different test networks and budget levels to explore the efficacy of this approach. The results highlight the importance of accounting for robustness in transportation planning and the proposed approach is capable of producing high-quality solutions. 相似文献

The potential benefits of a synergistic light-water reactor (LWR) and gas-cooled fast reactor (GFR) fuel cycle were evaluated for its impact on the front-end and back-end of the fuel cycle. Comparisons were made with conventional once-through cycle (OTC) and MOX fuel cycle. Variations in the synergistic LWR/GFR fuel cycles were based on the degree of recycle in the LWR including both plutonium and reprocessed uranium with concomitant impact on used LWR fuel inventory. This provided a wide range in composition of GFR feed from low to high plutonium content with impact on transmutation/incineration within the GFR fuel cycle. Self-recycle of all actinides was modeled for the GFR with analyses demonstrating that the GFR can be sustained on and consequently accept a wide range of feed materials. Analyses were done using Monteburns along with MCNP and Origen2.2 to model a 60-year period corresponding to the anticipated lifetime of supposed contemporary LWRs and GFRs. All cycles were evaluated based on actinide total mass and isotopic inventory, radiotoxicity, heatload, and resource requirements including natural uranium and SWU. For comparison, all fuel cycles were normalized based on 1 TWHe output. Improvements in fuel cycle performance are dictated by the production and incineration of minor actinides in the GFR and their continued recycle may not be feasible due to the buildup of troublesome isotopes such as 244Cm and 252Cf. But where uranium and plutonium continue to be recycled beyond the 60-year period, the LWR/GFR cycles demonstrated order of magnitude reductions in used fuel inventories, heatload, and radiotoxicity on a per TWHe basis over LWR only cycles. Wedge displays seem immune to slight bends even though they are likely to be introduced by the physical limits of the tools
used for wedge manufacture. We show how the maximum angular error which can be introduced by a bend of constant curvature
is determined by its thickness, radius of curvature, and the angle of the ray before entry into the bend. The maximum change
in angle therefore depends on the number of bounces through the bend, not on how the ray enters. For a 500 lines VGA image
of 20 mm thick curved part, the minimum acceptable radius of curvature is about 51.6 m. That Wedge panels seem able to tolerate

A study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of minor actinide (MA) transmutation in light water reactors (LWR). The purpose of this work was to provide a guide for future investigations into MA transmutation in LWR. This work considered the effects of various Am/Cm separation efficiencies as well as homogeneous and heterogeneous MA bearing fuel assemblies. The MA content was introduced into the reactor as mixed oxide plus minor actinide (MOX + MA) fuel. Three Am/Cm separation efficiencies were independently considered: 99.9%, 99.0%, and 90.0%. In order to evaluate the feasibility of MA transmutation, the fuel performance of the various assemblies and core designs, as well as their respective safety related parameters, were calculated. The reduction of the burden of high level waste (HLW) motivated the investigation of MA transmutation. It was found that the MA bearing fuel assemblies and their subsequent core designs were able to perform within the safety limits required as well as achieving similar burnups to a UO2 core. The Am transmutation rates were ∼40% for the homogeneous assemblies and up to 68% for the MA targets in the heterogeneous assemblies after the described burnup, however, there was a significant amount of Cm produced during burnup. This Cm production was due to the more favorable neutron capture reaction over fission for Am in the thermal spectrum. Future work should examine the benefits of Am transmutation at the expense of large Cm production rates. 相似文献

A three-dimensional numerical model has been developed to simulate the conjugate heat transfer and the separation of oxygen from air in a single-cell ceramic oxygen generator (COG). The current investigation examined changes in working memory (WM) component processes following total sleep deprivation (TSD) in a sample of healthy young persons. Forty subjects were administered a verbal form of a continuous recognition test (CRT) before and after 42 hr of TSD. Parameters of a computational model of the CRT reflecting attention, WM span, and rate of episodic memory encoding were estimated for each individual. Subjects made more errors on the test following sleep deprivation. Analysis of model parameters revealed statistically independent declines in both the attention and WM span parameters, with a larger effect observed for the decline in WM span. Examination of individual profiles suggested that the effects of TSD on verbal WM component processes vary from person to person. Declines in global verbal WM functioning appear to be primarily driven by reduced WM span and attention; however, these effects may be individual-specific. Further applications of the computational model for examining WM component processes with sleep deprivation and other clinical populations are discussed.
