Effort sharing in ambitious,global climate change mitigation scenarios   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The post-2012 climate policy framework needs a global commitment to deep greenhouse gas emission cuts. This paper analyzes reaching ambitious emission targets up to 2050, either ‐10%10% or ‐50%50% from 1990 levels, and how the economic burden from mitigation efforts could be equitably shared between countries. The scenarios indicate a large low-cost mitigation potential in electricity and industry, while reaching low emission levels in international transportation and agricultural emissions might prove difficult. The two effort sharing approaches, Triptych and Multistage, were compared in terms of equitability and coherence. Both approaches produced an equitable cost distribution between countries, with least developed countries having negative or low costs and more developed countries having higher costs. There is, however, no definitive solution on how the costs should be balanced equitably between countries. Triptych seems to be yet more coherent than other approaches, as it can better accommodate national circumstances. Last, challenges and possible hindrances to effective mitigation and equitable effort sharing are presented. The findings underline the significance of assumptions behind effort sharing on mitigation potentials and current emissions, the challenge of sharing the effort with uncertain future allowance prices and how inefficient markets might undermine the efficiency of a cap-and-trade system.  相似文献

A novel measurement principle for fiber-optic sensing is presented. Use of a cavity-ring-down scheme enables measurements of minute optical losses in high-finesse fiber-optic cavities. The loss may be induced by evanescent-field absorption, fiber bending, fiber degradation, Bragg gratings, or any other effect that might change the fiber transmission or cavity reflector properties. The principle is proved to be rather insensitive to ambient perturbations such as temperature changes. A high-sensitivity measurement of loss due to bending is presented as a proof-of-principle. With a cavity finesse of 627 a sensitivity for induced loss of 108 ppm (4.68 x 10(-4) dB) is achieved. Preliminary measurements of evanescent-field absorption are also discussed.  相似文献

The relationship between the malonaldehyde formed as oxidation product of lipids, and changes of proteins in frozen Baltic herring (Clupea harengus var. membranus) was studied. Changes occurred in the muscle proteins due to freezing, so that water-binding capacity, solubility, and the amount of free epsilon-amino groups in these proteins decreased. A close relationship was found between the amount of malonaldehyde and changes of proteins in the different phases of storage. The reaction of malonaldehyde with the free amino groups of the proteins may be one of the factors on which the changes of proteins during frozen storage are based.  相似文献

This article summarizes studies on the single screw extrusion of three soft PVC materials of different K values. The results are analyzed as a function of screw geometry. The operation of the screws as functions of output, economy, plasticating effect, and melt homogeneity was studied. The Maddock mixing screw with no treads after the mixing section performed well, and, especially, its melt homogeneity was excellent.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Respiratory symptoms, impaired lung function, and asthma have been reported in workers exposed to wood dust in a number of epidemiological studies. The underlying pathomechanisms, however, are not well understood. Here, we studied the effects of dust from pine (PD) and heat-treated pine (HPD) on the release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inflammatory mediators in rat alveolar macrophages. METHODS: Tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) protein release, TNF-alpha and MIP-2 mRNA expression, and generation of ROS were studied as end points after treatment of rat alveolar macrophages with PD or HPD. In a separate series of experiments, the antioxidants glutathione and N-acetyl-L-cysteine were included in combination with wood dust. To determine the endogenous oxidative and antioxidant capacity of wood dusts, electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy was used. RESULTS: After 4 h incubation, both PD and HPD elicited a significantly (p < 0.05) increased mRNA expression of TNF-alpha and MIP-2 as well as a concentration-dependent release of TNF-alpha and MIP-2 protein. Interestingly, PD induced a significantly higher TNF-alpha and MIP-2 production than HPD. Moreover, a significantly increased ROS production was observed in alveolar macrophages exposed to both PD and HPD. In the presence of the antioxidants glutathione and N-acetyl-L-cysteine, the PD- and HPD-induced release of ROS, TNF-alpha, and MIP-2 was significantly reduced. Finally, electron spin resonance analyses demonstrated a higher endogenous antioxidant capacity of HPD compared to PD. Endotoxin was not present in either dust sample. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that pine dust is able to induce expression of TNF-alpha and MIP-2 in rat alveolar macrophages by a mechanism that is, at least in part, mediated by ROS.  相似文献

Methods for dosimetry of epithermal neutron beams used in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) have been developed and utilised within the Finnish BNCT project as well as within a European project for a code of practise for the dosimetry of BNCT. One outcome has been a travelling toolkit for BNCT dosimetry. It consists of activation detectors and ionisation chambers. The free-beam neutron spectrum is measured with a set of activation foils of different isotopes irradiated both in a Cd-capsule and without it. Neutron flux (thermal and epithermal) distribution in phantoms is measured using activation of Mn and Au foils, and Cu wire. Ionisation chamber (IC) measurements are performed both in-free-beam and in-phantom for determination of the neutron and gamma dose components. This toolkit has also been used at other BNCT facilities in Europe, the USA, Argentina and Japan.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to investigate the atmospheric boundary‐layer (ABL) flow and the wind turbine wake over forests with varying leaf area densities (LAD). The forest LAD profile used in this study is based on a real forest site, Ryningsnäs, located in Sweden. The reference turbine used to model the wake is a well‐documented 5‐MW turbine, which is implemented in the simulations using an actuator line model (ALM). All simulations are carried out with openFOAM using the Reynolds averaged Navier‐Stokes (RANS) approach. Twelve forest cases with leaf area index (LAI) ranging from 0.42 to 8.5 are considered. Results show that the mean velocity decreases with increasing LAI within the forest canopy, but increases with LAI above the hub height. Meanwhile, the turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) varies nonmonotonically with forest density. The TKE increases with forest density and reaches to its maximum at an average LAI of 1.70, afterwards, it decreases gradually as the density increases. It is also observed that the forest density has a clear role in the wake development and recovery. Comparisons between no‐forest and forest cases show that the forest characteristics help in damping the added turbulence from the turbine. As a consequence, the forest with the highest upstream turbulence has the shortest wake downstream of the turbine.  相似文献

The polyamines, spermine (Spm) and spermidine (Spd), are important for cell growth and function. Their homeostasis is strictly controlled, and a key downregulator of the polyamine pool is the polyamine-inducible protein, antizyme 1 (OAZ1). OAZ1 inhibits polyamine uptake and targets ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), the rate-limiting enzyme of polyamine biosynthesis, for proteasomal degradation. Here we report, for the first time, that polyamines induce dimerization of mouse recombinant full-length OAZ1, forming an (OAZ1)2-Polyamine complex. Dimerization could be modulated by functionally active C-methylated spermidine mimetics (MeSpds) by changing the position of the methyl group along the Spd backbone—2-MeSpd was a poor inducer as opposed to 1-MeSpd, 3-MeSpd, and Spd, which were good inducers. Importantly, the ability of compounds to inhibit polyamine uptake correlated with the efficiency of the (OAZ1)2-Polyamine complex formation. Thus, the (OAZ1)2-Polyamine complex may be needed to inhibit polyamine uptake. The efficiency of polyamine-induced ribosomal +1 frameshifting of OAZ1 mRNA could also be differentially modulated by MeSpds—2-MeSpd was a poor inducer of OAZ1 biosynthesis and hence a poor downregulator of ODC activity unlike the other MeSpds. These findings offer new insight into the OAZ1-mediated regulation of polyamine homeostasis and provide the chemical tools to study it.  相似文献
