This study first reviews state-of-the-art fast handoff techniques for IEEE 802.11 or Mobile IP networks. Based on that review, topology-aided cross-layer fast handoff designs are proposed for Mobile IP over IEEE 802.1.1 networks. Time-sensitive applications, such as voice over IP (VoIP), cannot tolerate the long layer-2 plus layer-3 handoff delays that arise in IEEE 802.11/Mobile IP environments. Cross-layer designs are increasingly adopted to shorten the handoff latency time. Handoff-related layer-2 triggers may reduce the delay between layer-2 handoff completion and the associated layer-3 handoff activation. Cross-layer topology information, such as the association between 802.11 access points and Mobile IP mobility agents, together with layer-2 triggers, can be utilized by a mobile node to start layer-3 handoff-related activities, such as agent discovery, address configuration, and registration, in parallel with or prior to those of layer-2 handoff. Experimental results indicate that the whole handoff. delay can meet the delay requirement of VoIP applications when layer-3 handoff activities occur prior to layer-2 handoffs.  相似文献

There has been much interest in the application of frequency hopping-spread spectrum multiple access (FH-SSMA) to wireless systems because of its frequency diversity and resistance to the near-far problem. In FH-SSMA systems, cochannel interference (CCI) is the dominant factor limiting the user capacity. Various techniques used to resolve the CCI problem have been extensively investigated. We propose several multiuser detection schemes based on canceling CCI to increase user capacity in a multilevel frequency shift keying (MFSK)/FH-SSMA system. The performance of systems with the proposed interference cancellers over a Rayleigh fading channel are analyzed and compared with those of the conventional and other interference cancellers. High-performance, reliable, and robust products with a short development schedule are general design aims. FACE was developed to achieve these goals, including the organization of a design flow, a frequency-driven information analyzer, compiler techniques (code generator and instruction optimization), and a hierarchical object design library. This paper explores the design space of a retargetable compiler and a reconfigurable hardware, which combine both software and hardware reprogrammability. The environment, FACE, we have developed allows us to quickly move the functions between software and hardware in a state of flux. Finally, it generates the application specific integrated processor (ASIP) and a compiler for the new ASIP architecture. The case study is considered which demonstrates the efficiency in ASIP design of FACE.  相似文献

Ge films deposited by vacuum deposition at 425?C are generally p-type. This paper discusses the use of pulsed-electron beam annealing and ion implantation to modify the carrier concentration of such films. Electron beam annealing has been used to reduce the carrier concentration by more than a factor of 30 and n-type films have been obtained by phosphorus implantation and subsequent thermal annealing. TEM, RBS and Hall measurements have been used to characterize the films. The electrical properties of the as-grown films are believed to be defect dominated.  相似文献

One way to broadcast a popular video is to use multiple channels, each broadcasting a portion of the video periodically. Among the many schemes falling in this category, this paper focuses on several representative schemes (such as FB, Pagoda, and RFS ), which all share a FSFC property by repeatedly broadcasting the first segment of the video on the first channel. We propose a general borrow-and-return model that can be immediately applied to any scheme owning the FSFC property to reduce the viewer's waiting time without increasing the number of channels required. Given a group of videos, the basic idea is to lend the free time slots of videos without viewers to those videos with viewers to speedup the latter's transmission. By so doing, some bandwidth may be vacated by the borrowing videos to benefit others' transmission. The effectiveness of this model is analyzed by applying it to the FB scheme.  相似文献

Cross-interactions between Cu/Sn/Pd and Ni/Sn/Pd sandwich structures were investigated in this work. For the Cu/Sn/Pd case, the growth behavior and morphology of the interfacial (Pd,Cu)Sn4 compound layer was very similar to that of the single Pd/Sn interfacial reaction. This indicates that the growth of the (Pd,Cu)Sn4 layer at the Sn/Pd interface would not be affected by the opposite Cu/Sn interfacial reaction. We can conclude that there is no cross-interaction effect between the two interfacial reactions in the Cu/Sn/Pd sandwich structure. For the Ni/Sn/Pd case, we observed that: (1) after 300 s of reflow time, the (Pd,Ni)Sn4 compound heterogeneously nucleated on the Ni3Sn4 compound layer at the Sn/Ni interface; (2) the growth of the interfacial PdSn4 compound layer was greatly suppressed by the formation of the (Pd,Ni)Sn4 compound at the Sn/Ni interface. We believe that this suppression of PdSn4 growth is caused by heterogeneous nucleation of the (Pd,Ni)Sn4 compound in the Ni3Sn4 compound layer, which decreases the free energy of the entire sandwich reaction system. The difference in the chemical potential of Pd in the PdSn4 phase at the Pd/Sn interface and in the (Pd,Ni)Sn4 phase at the Sn/Ni interface is the driving force for the Pd atomic flux across the molten Sn. The diffusion of Ni into the ternary (Pd,Ni)Sn4 compound layer controls the Pd atomic flux across the molten Sn and the growth of the ternary (Pd,Ni)Sn4 compound at the Sn/Ni interface.  相似文献

This paper presents an authentication and key agreement protocol to streamline communication activities for a group of mobile stations (MSs) roaming from the same home network (HN) to a serving network (SN). In such a roaming scenario, conventional schemes require the SN to interact with the HN for authenticating respective MSs, at the cost of repeated message exchanges and communication delay. Instead, in our design, when the first MS of a group visits, the SN performs full authentication with the concerned HN and thereby obtains authentication information for the MS and other members. Thus when any other MS of the same group visits, the SN can authenticate locally without subsequent involvement of the HN, so as to simplify protocol operations. We will show that our scheme does not trade performance for security and robustness to the extent that security requirements are unduly weakened. Both qualitative and quantitative discussions indicate that our proposed scheme lends itself to pragmatic settings.  相似文献

This paper presents a self-testing and calibration technique for the embedded successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in system-on-chip (SoC) designs. We first proposed a low cost design-for-test (DfT) technique that estimates the SAR ADC performance before and after calibration by characterizing its digital-to-analog converter (DAC) capacitor weights (bit weights). Utilizing major carrier transition (MCT) testing, the required analog measurement range is only about 1 LSB; this significantly reduces test circuitry complexity. Then, we develop a fully-digital calibration technique that utilizes the extracted bit weights to correct the non-ideal I/O behavior induced by capacitor mismatch. Simulation results show that (1) the proposed testing technique achieves very high test accuracy even in the presence of large noise, and (2) the proposed calibration technique effectively improves both static and dynamic performances of the SAR ADC.  相似文献

To evaluate the usefulness of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in the treatment of critically ill patients, 80 patients (51 male and 29 female; mean age, 53 years) undergoing both transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and TEE were studied in a 2-year period. Of these, 48 patients were studied in the ICU, while the other 32 patients were directly referred from the emergency departments. Indications for the study included suspected aortic dissection (34 patients), hemodynamic instability (22 patients), suspected cardiac source of embolism (11 patients), evaluation of the severity of mitral regurgitation (7 patients), and suspected infective endocarditis (6 patients). The probe was passed successfully in 78 of 80 attempts (98 percent). No significant complications were recorded during the transesophageal echocardiographic study. Transesophageal echocardiography provided critical information that was not obtained by TTE in 39 of 78 studies (50 percent, p < 0.005). Cardiac surgery was prompted by TEE findings in 14 patients (18 percent) and these findings were all confirmed at operation. Transesophageal echocardiography was a safe, well-tolerated, and valuable diagnostic approach for the rapid detection of specific cardiac abnormalities in patients with critical illness; TEE should be considered in the treatment of critically ill patients especially when TTE provided inadequate information.  相似文献
