The article focuses on an assessment of adsorbable organic halides degradation during the process of conventional ozonation and advanced oxidation as far as the water containing bromides is concerned. The amount of AOX in the water examined varied from 59 to 105 μg Cl?/L, and the bromides concentration exceeded 200 μg Br?/L. The effects obtained by O3 and O3/UV methods were compared with the results achieved for the water which underwent only UV irradiation. The analysis of presented research results shows that out of the examined oxidation methods, in water of pH 6.8–9.5 and temperature of approximately 287 K, the highest degree of AOX decomposition, was achieved by UV irradiation of water, which was previously subjected to ozonation. However, when the ozone dose reached ≥ 0.3 mg O3/mg C in an alkaline environment, bromates were formed in amounts exceeding the maximum contaminant level in both processes.  相似文献

Hybrid nanostructures can be developed with inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) such as zinc oxide (ZnO) and natural antibacterials. ZnO NPs can also exert antibacterial effects, and we used them here to examine their dual action in combination with a natural antibacterial agent, protocatechuic acid (PCA). To produce hybrid nanoformulations, we functionalized ZnO NPs with four types of silane organic molecules and successfully linked them to PCA. Physicochemical assessment confirmed PCA content up to ~18% in hybrid nanoformulations, with a PCA entrapment efficiency of ~72%, indicating successful connection. We then investigated the in vitro release kinetics and antibacterial effects of the hybrid against Staphylococcus aureus. PCA release from hybrid nanoformulations varied with silane surface modification. Within 98 h, only 8% of the total encapsulated PCA was released, suggesting sustained long-term release. We used nanoformulation solutions collected at days 3, 5, and 7 by disc diffusion or log reduction to evaluate their antibacterial effect against S. aureus. The hybrid nanoformulation showed efficient antibacterial and bactericidal effects that also depended on the surface modification and at a lower minimum inhibition concentration compared with the separate components. A hybrid nanoformulation of the PCA prodrug and ZnO NPs offers effective sustained-release inhibition of S. aureus growth.  相似文献

The impact of functional solutions (water infusions of radish sprouts, wheat bran (WBE), basil leaves (BLE) and lentil protein hydrolysate) on enzymatic browning of shredded iceberg lettuce was studied. BLE and WBE, limiting enzymatic browning in the highest degree, were tested during cold storage. The best inhibitors of PPO activity in lettuce stored for 8 days were 10% WBE (a decrease by 97%). POD activity was substantially decreased by ascorbic acid (by 75%) and 1% BLE (by 83%). POD and PPO inhibition was reflected in a decrease in enzymatic browning, that is 91% and 88% reduction was found in 8-day stored lettuce treated with 1% BLE and 1% WBE, respectively. In the case of POD, mixed inhibition was recorded for BLE and WBE, while these solutions acted as competitive inhibitors of PPO activity. The enzymatic browning of shredded iceberg lettuce during cold storage may be effectively suppressed by natural extracts.  相似文献

Single event electrospraying (SEE) is a method for the on-demand deposition of picoliter volumes of liquid. To investigate the influence of the size of the meniscus on the volume deposited per SEE, glass capillaries were used with and without an anti-wetting coating comprising a self-assembled 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane-based monolayer to control the meniscus size. The deposited volume was determined experimentally and we developed a model that incorporates electrostatics and electrodynamics on the one hand, and hydrostatics, fluid dynamics, and surface tension effects on the other hand. The volumes deposited from both a capillary with unmodified nozzle front (large meniscus) and from a capillary with a modified nozzle front (small meniscus) can be predicted by the theoretical model.  相似文献

The structural isomer of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA), is eliminated almost entirely by urinary excretion and considered a sensitive index of glomerular filtration rate (GFR). However, reports on this relationship in healthy subjects younger than 18 years of age are rare. Therefore, our aim was to investigate relations between endogenous dimethylarginines and renal function indices in healthy children and adolescents. We studied 40 subjects aged 3–18 years free of coexistent diseases or subclinical carotid atherosclerosis. A serum creatinine-derived estimated GFR (eGFR) was calculated by the revised bedside Schwartz equation. L-arginine, ADMA and SDMA were measured by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Mean eGFR was 122 ± 22 (SD) mL/min per 1.73 m2. Creatinine and eGFR exhibited closer correlations with the SDMA/ADMA ratio (r = 0.64, p < 0.0001; r = −0.63, p < 0.0001, respectively) than with SDMA (r = 0.31, p = 0.05; r = −0.35, p = 0.03). Neither creatinine nor eGFR correlated with ADMA or L-arginine. Adjustment for age or height only slightly attenuated the associations between the SDMA/ADMA ratio and eGFR or creatinine. Our findings suggest the superiority of the SDMA/ADMA ratio over SDMA as a renal function index in healthy children. Thus, further studies are warranted to verify our preliminary results in a larger group of subjects below 18 years of age.  相似文献

Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) is a progressive and incurable disease with poor prognosis for patients. Despite introduction of novel therapies, the mortality rate remains high. An attractive alternative for extension of the life of mCRPC patients is PSMA-based targeted radioimmunotherapy. In this paper, we extended our in vitro study of 223Ra-labeled and PSMA-targeted NaA nanozeolites [223RaA-silane-PEG-D2B] by undertaking comprehensive preclinical in vitro and in vivo research. The toxicity of the new compound was evaluated in LNCaP C4-2, DU-145, RWPE-1 and HPrEC prostate cells and in BALB/c mice. The tissue distribution of 133Ba- and 223Ra-labeled conjugates was studied at different time points after injection in BALB/c and LNCaP C4-2 tumor-bearing BALB/c Nude mice. No obvious symptoms of antibody-free and antibody-functionalized nanocarriers cytotoxicity and immunotoxicity was found, while exposure to 223Ra-labeled conjugates resulted in bone marrow fibrosis, decreased the number of WBC and platelets and elevated serum concentrations of ALT and AST enzymes. Biodistribution studies revealed high accumulation of 223Ra-labeled conjugates in the liver, lungs, spleen and bone tissue. Nontargeted and PSMA-targeted radioconjugates exhibited a similar, marginal uptake in tumour lesions. In conclusion, despite the fact that NaA nanozeolites are safe carriers, the intravenous administration of NaA nanozeolite-based radioconjugates is dubious due to its high accumulation in the lungs, liver, spleen and bones.  相似文献

Two silver(I) complexes—{[Ag(4‐pmOpe)]NO3}n and [Ag(2‐bimOpe)2]NO3—and three copper(II) complexes—[Cu4Cl6O(2‐bimOpe)4], [CuCl2(4‐pmOpe)2], and [CuCl2(2‐bis(pm)Ope]—were synthesized by reaction of silver(I) nitrate or copper(II) chloride with phosphate derivatives of pyridine and benzimidazole, namely diethyl (pyridin‐4‐ylmethyl)phosphate (4‐pmOpe), 1H‐benzimidazol‐2‐ylmethyl diethyl phosphate (2‐bimOpe), and ethyl bis(pyridin‐2‐ylmethyl)phosphate (2‐bis(pm)Ope). These compounds were characterized by 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR as well as IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and ESIMS spectrometry. Additionally, molecular and crystal structures of {[Ag(4‐pmOpe)]NO3}n and [Cu4Cl6O(2‐bimOpe)4] were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. The antimicrobial profiles of synthesized complexes and free ligands against test organisms from the ATCC and clinical sources were determined. Silver(I) complexes showed good antimicrobial activities against Candida albicans strains (MIC values of ~19 μM ). [Ag(2‐bimOpe)2]NO3 was particularly active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis, with MIC values of ~5 and ~10 μM , respectively. Neither copper(II) complexes nor the free ligands inhibited the growth of test organisms at concentrations below 500 μg mL?1.  相似文献

Current treatment protocols for myocardial infarction improve the outcome of disease to some extent but do not provide the clue for full regeneration of the heart tissues. An increasing body of evidence has shown that transplantation of cells may lead to some organ recovery. However, the optimal stem cell population has not been yet identified. We would like to propose a novel pro-regenerative treatment for post-infarction heart based on the combination of human skeletal myoblasts (huSkM) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). huSkM native or overexpressing gene coding for Cx43 (huSKMCx43) alone or combined with MSCs were delivered in four cellular therapeutic variants into the healthy and post-infarction heart of mice while using molecular reporter probes. Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) performed right after cell delivery and 24 h later revealed a trend towards an increase in the isotopic uptake in the post-infarction group of animals treated by a combination of huSkMCx43 with MSC. Bioluminescent imaging (BLI) showed the highest increase in firefly luciferase (fluc) signal intensity in post-infarction heart treated with combination of huSkM and MSCs vs. huSkM alone (p < 0.0001). In healthy myocardium, however, nanoluciferase signal (nanoluc) intensity varied markedly between animals treated with stem cell populations either alone or in combinations with the tendency to be simply decreased. Therefore, our observations seem to show that MSCs supported viability, engraftment, and even proliferation of huSkM in the post-infarction heart.  相似文献
