This paper describes a new distance transform method used for measuring fiber diameter in electrospun nanofiber webs. In this
algorithm, the effect of intersection is eliminated, which brings more accuracy to the measurement. The method is tested by
a series of simulated images with known characteristics as well as some real webs obtained from electrospinning of PVA. Our
method is compared with the distance transform method. The results obtained by our method were significantly better than the

A mathematical model was generated to predict the composition of the outlet gas of ozone generators. In order to make the modelling possible it was important to predict the occurrence time and the exact location of each individual discharge zone. This was done by connecting a specially constructed ozone generator, which would locate the discharge zones, to a nanosecond pulse generator which would impose regular occurrence times for discharge columns. The experimental and theoretical outlet concentrations of this ozone generator were compared. The result was an excellent match which justified the assumptions made in the model. The mathematical model was also used to study the effect of different factors affecting the production of ozone. 相似文献

The orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are highly sensitive to the nonlinear distortions introduced by the high-power amplifier at the transmitter and to the in-phase and quadrature (IQ) imbalance of the down converter at the receiver. In this paper, the joint effects of these impairments on the performance of the OFDM systems with M signal points quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) are investigated. Moreover, the analytical formulations for the error vector magnitude, the bit error rate, and the total degradation performances of the M-QAM-OFDM systems in additive white Gaussian noise channels as a function of the output back off and IQ imbalance parameters are derived. This study aimed to produce and characterize eco-friendly SSPS nanocomposites incorporated with various concentrations of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) (1%, 3%, and 7%). The antimicrobial activity of the nanocomposite films against five strains of pathogenic bacteria was examined. Salmonella typhi PTCC 1609 was the most sensitive species to TiO2 NPs at concentrations equal to the synthetic antibiotic. The migration of TiO2 to ethanol and acetic acid, as two food simulants increased when the initial nano-TiO2 content increased. The release profiles for TiO2 in two simulants of ethanol and acetic acid indicated a non-Fickian release, and the release kinetics were concentration-dependent. SSPS/TiO2 nanocomposites degraded easily and thus have the potential to be applied as an eco-friendly packaging system. Oral administration of doses of 1, 12.5, 25, 50, and 75 mg/kg TiO2 revealed that the dose of 50 and 75 mg/kg increased malondialdehyde (p < .001) concentration in the liver tissue. In this research, optimal conditions for extraction of caffeine and polyphenols were established from Iranian green tea leaves. In the first step, caffeine was extracted with efficacy about 86% versed to 4.5% of EGC + EGCG. The EGCG + EGC was extracted from partially decaffeinated green tea leaves through microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (USE) with efficiency levels of 95 and 85%, respectively. The best results for the MAE process were obtained with 7.8 min and three number of extraction cycles and for the USE process were as followed: time 57 min, temperature 65 °C, and the number of extraction cycles 3. The total phenol content values at the best conditions of MAE and the USE processes were 125 ± 5 and 96 ± 6 mg gallic acid/g DW. The 50% inhibition (IC50) on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were 56 and 66 mg/g of phenol for the MAE and USE processes. 相似文献

Non-biodegradability and disposal problems are the major challenges associated with synthetic plastic packaging. This review article discusses a new generation of biodegradable active and smart packaging based on porous nanomaterials (PNMs), which maintains the quality and freshness of food products while meeting biodegradability requirements. PNMs have recently gained significant attention in the field of food packaging due to their large surface area, peculiar structures, functional flexibility, and thermal stability. We present for the first time the recently published literature on the incorporation of various PNMs into renewable materials to develop advanced, environmentally friendly, and high-quality packaging technology. Various emerging packaging technologies are discussed in this review, along with their advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, it provides general information about PNMs, their characterization, and fabrication methods. It also briefly describes the effects of different PNMs on the functionality of biopolymeric films. Furthermore, we examined how smart packaging loaded with PNMs can improve food shelf life and reduce food waste. The results indicate that PNMs play a critical role in improving the antimicrobial, thermal, physicochemical, and mechanical properties of natural packaging materials.
