A judicious use of resources, by using by-products and waste materials, and a lower environmental impact, by reducing carbon dioxide emission and virgin aggregate extraction, allow to approach sustainable building development. Recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) containing supplementary cementitious materials (SCM), if satisfactory concrete properties are achieved, can be an example of such sustainable construction materials.In this work concrete specimens were manufactured by completely replacing fine and coarse aggregates with recycled aggregates from a rubble recycling plant. Also RAC with fly ash (RA + FA) or silica fume (RA + SF) were studied.Concrete properties were evaluated by means of compressive strength and modulus of elasticity in the first experimental part. In the second experimental part, compressive and tensile splitting strength, dynamic modulus of elasticity, drying shrinkage, reinforcing bond strength, carbonation, chloride penetration were studied. Satisfactory concrete properties can be developed with recycled fine and coarse aggregates with proper selection and proportioning of the concrete materials.  相似文献

The Water Framework Directive (WFD) defines common objectives for water resources throughout the European Union (EU). Given this general approach to water preservation and water policy, the objective of this paper is to analyse whether common patterns of water consumption exist within Europe. In particular, our study uses two methods to reveal the reasons behind sectoral water use in all EU countries. The first method is based on an accounting indicator that calculates the water intensity of an economy as the sum of sectoral water intensities. The second method is a subsystem input-output model that divides total water use into different income channels within the production system. The application uses data for the years 2005 and 2009 on water consumption in the production system of the 27 countries of the EU. From our analysis it emerges that EU countries are characterized by very different patterns of water consumption. In particular water consumption by the agriculture sector is extremely high in Central/Eastern Europe, relative to the rest of Europe. In most countries, the water used by the fuel, power and water sector is consumed to satisfy domestic final demand. However, our analysis shows that for some countries exports from this sector are an important driver of water consumption. Focusing on the agricultural sector, the decomposition analysis suggests that water usage in Mediterranean countries is mainly driven by final demand for, and exports of, agricultural products. In Central/Eastern Europe domestic final demand is the main driver of water consumption, but in this region the proportion of water use driven by demand for exports is increasing over time. Given these heterogeneous water consumption patterns, our analysis suggests that Mediterranean and Central/Eastern European countries should adopt specific water policies in order to achieve efficient levels of water consumption in the European Union.  相似文献

Different models for the NiO cathode have been compared with respect to their abilities to predict polarization curves and the influence of the amount of electrolyte on the electrode performance. It has been shown that the agglomerate model for the MCFC cathode gives more reasonable results when the exterior agglomerate surface area is specifically taken into account. In the cathode only the outermost layer of nickel oxide particles in the agglomerate is utilized for the electrochemical reaction. The pseudohomogeneous approach is questionable for these agglomerates since the individual particles constituting the agglomerate are of the same size as the reaction zone thickness. A thin-film model with a roughness factor for the electrode surface appears to be as good a model as the agglomerate model. A model based on a chain of spherical agglomerates and the partially drowned agglomerate model are physically more realistic models than the homogeneous agglomerate model for the prediction of the influence of electrolyte fill on the electrochemical performance.  相似文献

The influence of high-pressure homogenisation (HPH) at 100 MPa on Lacticaseibacillus paracasei 90 (L90) was studied in vitro and in situ (fermented milk and cheese). Lysis and injury signs were observed in cells treated with HPH, which were linked to the release of intracellular enzymes and changes in the metabolic activity of L90. HPH treatment led to a higher lactic acid content and lower pH and pyruvic acid levels in fermented milk. The microbiological and peptide profiles of cheeses were modified by using cells or cell-free extracts of L90. Finally, this study suggests that L90 could release bioactive peptides.  相似文献

The addition of sodium fluoride to poly (methyl-methacrylate) (PMMA) bone cement may theoretically improve the fixation of joint replacement. This hypothesis was tested in an animal model using nine mature healthy lop-eared rabbits. A femoral prosthesis was inserted in both knees to resurface the patellofemoral articulation. The same acrylic cement, with and without sodium fluoride, was randomised between the two sides for prosthetic fixation. Two screw shaped implants machined from cured rods of either cement were also inserted bilaterally into the proximal tibia. Qualitative and quantitative histomorphometry of the bone tissue response surrounding the cement in the femur and the intact tibial implants revealed similar results regardless of sodium fluoride addition. Six weeks after surgery removal, torque did not significantly differ between the two sides. Our findings indicate that addition of sodium fluoride to PMMA has little effect on implant stability and bone remodeling in rabbits in the short-term.  相似文献
