In this work, we present the effects of salts on sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate micellization and on the interfacial performance of a sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate–heptane–brine system at optimum formulation, i.e., hydrophilic–lipophilic deviation (HLD) = 0. In order to do that, interfacial tension and dilational interfacial rheology properties of surfactant–heptane–water systems at optimum formulation are measured using an interfacial spinning drop tensiometer with an oscillating velocity, which can accurately measure interfacial rheology properties at both low and ultralow interfacial tensions. The brines used contain one of the following salts: MgCl2, CaCl2, NaCl, NH4Cl, NaNO3, CH3COONa, or Na2SO4. We performed a one-dimensional salinity scan with each of these salts to achieve an optimum formulation. In relation to the Hofmeister series, we found that, at optimum formulation, systems with chaotropic ions (NH4+, NO3) present interfaces with ultralow interfacial tensions, very low dilational modulus, and a low phase angle, whereas kosmotropic ions (Mg2+, Ca2+, SO4−2) generate high interfacial tension and high rigidity monolayers. Intermediate ions in the Hofmeister series (Na+, CH3COO, Cl) present interfaces with intermediate properties. Furthermore, according to the Hofmeister series, interfaces can be respectively ordered from higher to lower rigidity for surfactant counterions Mg2+ > Ca2+ > Na+ > NH4+ and coions SO42− > CH3COO > Cl > NO3, which correspond to a salting-out (highest rigidity) and salting-in (lowest rigidity) effect. We observed that counterions have a more significant effect on surfactant–oil–water system properties than those that act as coions.  相似文献

The processing of manganese nodules for the production of raw materials has been a subject of research for many decades. The nodules contain many valuable metals like copper, cobalt and nickel. In recent years, the German Federal Institute for Geoscience and Natural Resources developed a process for the processing of manganese nodules based on a combined pyro- and a hydrometallurgical route. Clausthal University of Technology was assigned to develop the hydrometallurgical process for the treatment of a FeNiCuCo alloy. The developed process consists of pressurized sulfuric acid leaching with the suppression of hydrogen gas formation, precipitation and solvent extraction.  相似文献

Platinum(II) complexes of the type [Pt(Cl)(PPh3){(κ2-N,O)-(1{C(R)=N(OH)-2(O)C6H4})}] with R=Me, H, ( 1 and 2 ) were synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction confirmed the proposed (SP4-3) configuration for 1 . Study of the antiproliferative activity, performed on a panel of human tumor cell lines and on mesothelial cells, highlighted complex 2 as the more effective. In particular, it showed a remarkable cytotoxicity in ovarian carcinoma cells (A2780) and interestingly, a significant antiproliferative effect on cisplatin resistant cells (A2780cis). Investigation into the intracellular mechanism of action demonstrated that 2 had a lower ability to platinate DNA than did cisplatin, which was taken as reference, and a notably higher uptake in resistant cells. A significant accumulation in mitochondria, along with the ability to induce concentration-dependent mitochondrial membrane depolarization and intracellular reactive oxygen species production, allowed us to propose a mitochondrion-mediated pathway as responsible for the interesting cytotoxic profile of complex 2 .  相似文献

Loss of β-cell mass and function can lead to insufficient insulin levels and ultimately to hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus. The mainstream treatment approach involves regulation of insulin levels; however, approaches intended to increase β-cell mass are less developed. Promoting β-cell proliferation with low-molecular-weight inhibitors of dual-specificity tyrosine-regulated kinase 1A (DYRK1A) offers the potential to treat diabetes with oral therapies by restoring β-cell mass, insulin content and glycemic control. GNF4877, a potent dual inhibitor of DYRK1A and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) was previously reported to induce primary human β-cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Herein, we describe the lead optimization that lead to the identification of GNF4877 from an aminopyrazine hit identified in a phenotypic high-throughput screening campaign measuring β-cell proliferation.  相似文献

Breast (BrCa) and prostate (PCa) cancers are the most common malignancies in women and men, respectively. The available therapeutic options for these tumors are still not curative and have severe side effects. Therefore, there is an urgent need for more effective antineoplastic agents. Herein, BrCa, PCa, and benign cell lines were treated with two ionic liquids and two quinoxalines and functional experiments were performed—namely cell viability, apoptosis, cytotoxicity, and colony formation assays. At the molecular level, an array of gene expressions encompassing several molecular pathways were used to explore the impact of treatment on gene expression. Although both quinoxalines and the ionic liquid [C2OHMIM][Amp] did not show any effect on the BrCa and PCa cell lines, [C16Pyr][Amp] significantly decreased cell viability and colony formation ability, while it increased the apoptosis levels of all cell lines. Importantly, [C16Pyr][Amp] was found to be more selective for cancer cells and less toxic than cisplatin. At the molecular level, this ionic liquid was also associated with reduced expression levels of CPT2, LDHA, MCM2, and SKP2, in both BrCa and PCa cell lines. Hence, [C16Pyr][Amp] was shown to be a promising anticancer therapeutic agent for BrCa and PCa cell lines.  相似文献

Inflammatory processes are triggered by the fibrinolytic enzyme plasmin. Tissue-type plasminogen activator, which cleaves plasminogen to plasmin, can be activated by the cross-β-structure of misfolded proteins. Misfolded protein aggregates also represent substrates for plasmin, promoting their degradation, and are potent platelet agonists. However, the regulation of plasmin-mediated platelet activation by misfolded proteins and vice versa is incompletely understood. In this study, we hypothesize that plasmin acts as potent agonist of human platelets in vitro after short-term incubation at room temperature, and that the response to thrombospondin-1 and the bona fide misfolded proteins Eap and SCN-denatured IgG interfere with plasmin, thereby modulating platelet activation. Plasmin dose-dependently induced CD62P surface expression on, and binding of fibrinogen to, human platelets in the absence/presence of plasma and in citrated whole blood, as analyzed by flow cytometry. Thrombospondin-1 pre-incubated with plasmin enhanced these plasmin-induced platelet responses at low concentration and diminished them at higher dose. Platelet fibrinogen binding was dose-dependently induced by the C-terminal thrombospondin-1 peptide RFYVVMWK, Eap or NaSCN-treated IgG, but diminished in the presence of plasmin. Blocking enzymatically catalyzed thiol-isomerization decreased plasmin-induced platelet responses, suggesting that plasmin activates platelets in a thiol-dependent manner. Thrombospondin-1, depending on the concentration, may act as cofactor or inhibitor of plasmin-induced platelet activation, and plasmin blocks platelet activation induced by misfolded proteins and vice versa, which might be of clinical relevance.  相似文献

Beclin 1 is a major regulator of autophagy, and it is a core component of the class III PI3K complexes. Beclin 1 is a highly conserved protein and its function is regulated in a number of ways, including post-translational modifications. Several studies indicate that receptor and non-receptor tyrosine kinases regulate autophagy activity in cancer, and some suggest the importance of Beclin 1 tyrosine phosphorylation in this process. Here we summarize the current knowledge of the mechanism whereby some oncogenic tyrosine kinases regulate autophagy through Beclin 1.  相似文献

The preparation of a novel polyphosphonate (PSFR) is described here, starting from phenylphosphonic dichloride and an equimolecular mixture containing equal amounts of two bisphenols, namely 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone and 2-(6-oxido-6H-dibenzo<c,e><1,2>oxaphosphorin-6-yl)-1,4-benzenediol, following the polycondensation reaction in solution. Then, new environmental-friendly nanocomposites having improved flame retardancy have been prepared by incorporating PSFR and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) into epoxy resin. The effect of PSFR and HNTs contents on the chemical and physical characteristics of epoxy nanocomposites was investigated. The success of the reactions was monitored by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) while microscopic related techniques (SEM) gave information on the morphology of the products. The thermosets exhibit glass transition temperatures in the range of 62.4–97.1°C and thermal decomposition temperatures in the interval of 296–359°C. The appearance of the char residues obtained by pyrolysis was studied by SEM measurements. The flammability behavior has been studied by microscale combustion calorimetry (MCC) tests. A considerable improvement in the flame retardancy of the thermosets was obtained by simultaneous incorporation of HNTs (10 wt%) and PSFR (equivalent of 1 wt% P) into epoxy resin.  相似文献

An assessment of the influence of the crystal structure, surface hydroxylation state and previous oxidation/reduction pretreatments on the activity of sulfate-zirconia catalysts for isomerization of n-butane was performed using crystalline and amorphous zirconia supports. Different sulfation methods were used for the preparation of bulk and supported SO42−-ZrO2 with monoclinic, tetragonal and tetragonal+monoclinic structures. Activity was important only for the samples that contained tetragonal crystals. The catalysts prepared from pure monoclinic zirconia showed negligible activity. SO42−-ZrO2 catalysts prepared by sulfation of crystalline zirconia displayed sites with lower acidity and cracking activity than those sulfated in the amorphous state. Prereduction of the zirconia samples with H2 was found to greatly increase the catalytic activity, and a maximum rate was found at a reduction temperature of 550–600 °C, coinciding with a TPR peak supposedly associated with the removal of lattice oxygen and the creation of lattice defects. A weaker dependence of catalytic activity on the density or type of surface OH groups on zirconia (before sulfation) was found in this work.

A model of active site generation was constructed in order to stress the dependence on the crystal structure and crystal defects. Current and previous results suggest that tetragonal structure in active SO42−-ZrO2 is a consequence of the stabilization of anionic vacancies in zirconia. Anionic vacancies are in turn supposed to be related to the catalytic activity for n-butane isomerization through the stabilization of electrons from ionized intermediates.  相似文献

Continuous α-Fe2O3 films grown on bulk (0001)Al2O2 substrates by low-pressure chemical vapor deposition have been studied by transmission electron microscopy and the observations compared to those obtained from discontinuous films at an earlier stage of the growth process. Plan-view specimens revealed significant thermal stress in the continuous films, while cross-sectional specimens showed that cracking occurs in thicker films. The free surface of the film and the film/substrate interface appeared sharp and flat, apart from growth ledges and steps. Weak-beam imaging revealed a hexagonal misfit dislocation network consisting of perfect edge dislocations. Fine structure in the selected-area diffraction patterns which corroborates these observations is also discussed. The misfit network of partial dislocations previously observed in the discontinuous films was not observed for the continuous films, indicating an effect of film thickness, growth rate, or surface preparation on the Fe2O3/(0001)Al2O3 interface structure.  相似文献
