Nanostructured Ag platforms have been obtained by simple chemical procedure and characterized by AFM (atomic force microscopy) measurements, for use in biosensing by means of SERS (surface-enhanced Raman scattering) spectroscopy. The SERS efficiency of these substrates has been verified by microRaman measurements on small RNA chains with different nucleobase content, showing sensitivity near attomole level. It is our opinion that these metal substrates may be widely used as appropriate sensors for detecting biomolecules in many applications concerning medical diagnostics, pharmacological research and nanomaterials technology. 相似文献

During non-rapid eye movement sleep and certain types of anaesthesia, neurons in the neocortex and thalamus exhibit a distinctive slow (<1 Hz) oscillation that consists of alternating UP and DOWN membrane potential states and which correlates with a pronounced slow (<1 Hz) rhythm in the electroencephalogram. While several studies have claimed that the slow oscillation is generated exclusively in neocortical networks and then transmitted to other brain areas, substantial evidence exists to suggest that the full expression of the slow oscillation in an intact thalamocortical (TC) network requires the balanced interaction of oscillator systems in both the neocortex and thalamus. Within such a scenario, we have previously argued that the powerful low-threshold Ca(2+) potential (LTCP)-mediated burst of action potentials that initiates the UP states in individual TC neurons may be a vital signal for instigating UP states in related cortical areas. To investigate these issues we constructed a computational model of the TC network which encompasses the important known aspects of the slow oscillation that have been garnered from earlier in vivo and in vitro experiments. Using this model we confirm that the overall expression of the slow oscillation is intricately reliant on intact connections between the thalamus and the cortex. In particular, we demonstrate that UP state-related LTCP-mediated bursts in TC neurons are proficient in triggering synchronous UP states in cortical networks, thereby bringing about a synchronous slow oscillation in the whole network. The importance of LTCP-mediated action potential bursts in the slow oscillation is also underlined by the observation that their associated dendritic Ca(2+) signals are the only ones that inform corticothalamic synapses of the TC neuron output, since they, but not those elicited by tonic action potential firing, reach the distal dendritic sites where these synapses are located. 相似文献

The abatement of ferulic acid (FA), a polyphenolic constituent of olive mill wastewater, is studied in the pH range 5.0-7.0 by using hydrogen peroxide and an amorphous iron oxide as catalyst. The effect of pH, catalyst load, hydrogen peroxide and substrate starting concentrations is assessed during the investigation. A suitable reaction scheme is developed and used to build a mathematical model which satisfactorily describes the system's behavior. Kinetic constants for the proposed scheme as well as the total active site concentration of the catalyst in the studied pH range are estimated. The occurrence of internal mass-transfer limitation for the adopted granulometric fraction of the catalyst is demonstrated. 相似文献

This study reports the synthesis and characterization of hydroxyapatite (HA)/polycaprolactone (PCL) hybrid composite materials synthesized by sol–gel method. The fabrication of scaffolds was performed by salt-leaching technique using NaCl as porogen agent. In the first step, the physico-chemical characterization of composite material was performed to evaluate the composition and the interaction between the organic/inorganic phases. In the second step, optimized scaffolds were bioactivated on the surface. The combined effect of scaffold morphology and surface bioactivity is ideal for bone tissue engineering, supporting bone cells adhesion, proliferation and differentiation. Here, a combined strategy involving biomimetic approach, using a supersaturated Simulated Body Fluid (SBF), and salt-leaching technique has been developed to grow hydroxyapatite in composite scaffolds able to regenerate the natural bone. 相似文献

The last decade has witnessed the rapid development of inkjet printing as an attractive bottom‐up microfabrication technology due to its simplicity and potentially low cost. The wealth of printable materials has been key to its widespread adoption in organic optoelectronics and biotechnology. However, its implementation in nanophotonics has so far been limited by the coarse resolution of conventional inkjet‐printing methods. In addition, the low refractive index of organic materials prevents the use of “soft‐photonics” in applications where strong light confinement is required. This study introduces a hybrid approach for creating and fine tuning high‐Q nanocavities, involving the local deposition of an organic ink on the surface of an inorganic 2D photonic crystal template using a commercially available high‐resolution inkjet printer. The controllability of this approach is demonstrated by tuning the resonance of the printed nanocavities by the number of printer passes and by the fabrication of photonic crystal molecules with controllable splitting. The versatility of this method is evidenced by the realization of nanocavities obtained by surface deposition on a blank photonic crystal. A new method for a free‐form, high‐density, material‐independent, and high‐throughput fabrication technique is thus established with a manifold of opportunities in photonic applications. 相似文献

The objective of this study was to compare the effect of two bioglass (BG) compositions 45S5 and 1393 in poly-l-lactic composite scaffolds in terms of morphology, mechanical properties, biodegradation, water uptake and bioactivity. The scaffolds were produced via thermally induced phase separation starting from a ternary polymer solution (polymer/solvent/non-solvent). Furthermore, different BG to polymer ratios have been selected (1, 2.5, 5% wt/wt) to evaluate the effect of the amount of filler on the composite structure. Results show that the addition of 1393BG does not affect the scaffold morphology, whereas the 45S5BG at the highest amount tends to appreciably modify the scaffold architecture interacting with the phase separation process. Bioactivity tests confirmed the formation of a hydroxycarbonateapatite-layer in both types of BGs (detected via scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy). Overall, the results showed that 1393BG composition affects the experimental preparation protocol to a minimal extent thus allowing a better control of the scaffold’s morphology compared to 45S5BG. 相似文献

The correlation between morphology and optoelectronic performance in organic thin‐film transistors based on blends of photochromic diarylethenes (DAE) and poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) is investigated by varying molecular weight (Mw = 20–100 kDa) and regioregularity of the conjugated polymer as well as the temperature of thermal annealing (rt‐160 °C) in thin films. Semicrystalline architectures of P3HT/DAE blends comprise crystalline domains, ensuring efficient charge transport, and less aggregated regions, where DAEs are located as a result of their spontaneous expulsion from the crystalline domains during the self‐assembly. The best compromise between field‐effect mobility (μ) and switching capabilities is observed in blends containing P3HT with Mw = 50 kDa, exhibiting μ as high as 1 × 10?3 cm2 V?1 s?1 combined with a >50% photoswitching ratio. Higher or lower Mw than 50 kDa are found to be detrimental for field‐effect mobility and to lead to reduced device current switchability. The microstructure of the regioregular P3HT blend is found to be sensitive to the thermal annealing temperature, with an increase in μ and a decrease in current modulation being observed as a response to the light‐stimulus likely due to an increased P3HT‐DAE segregation, partially hindering DAE photoisomerization. The findings demonstrate the paramount importance of fine tuning the structure and morphology of bicomponent films for leveraging the multifunctional nature of optoelectronic devices. 相似文献

The different exfoliation routes of graphite to produce graphene by sonication in solvent, chemical oxidation and electrochemical oxidation are compared. The exfoliation process and roughening of a flat graphite substrate is directly visualized at the nanoscale by scanning probe and electron microscopy. The etching damage in graphite and the properties of the exfoliated sheets are compared by Raman spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction analysis. The results show the trade‐off between exfoliation speed and preservation of graphene quality. A key step to achieve efficient exfoliation is to couple gas production and mechanical exfoliation on a macroscale with non‐covalent exfoliation and preservation of graphene properties on a molecular scale. 相似文献

In steelmaking and casting, transient operations are very critical for product quality and process regularity. This holds especially for the tundish. Typical drawbacks can occur at ladle change, where, for example, refilling high flow rates induce flow short‐circuits risky for dispersed oxides (“inclusions”) dragging towards the strands. At drainage, vortices formation can affect steel cleanliness via slag entrapment. Such topics were investigated for an industrial tundish with computational fluid dynamics validated tools. The focus was given on a multi‐strand layout more prone to unevenness features. As a matter of fact, the different steel path to reach different strands causes often too high temperature differences and different strand cleanliness levels. Strands closer to the tundish center, are generally hotter and less clean; the others, slightly colder but cleaner. Multiphase models, together with advanced meshing techniques and validated boundary conditions, were used to describe tundish refilling and drainage. Within the operating conditions of concern, a bath height of 300 mm was found as a best compromise between the need of avoiding slag entrapment through vortices and to have maximum yield. Once applied into operating practice, no rejection for cleanliness or customer claims were achieved. As refers to temperature loss from ladle to tundish, a drop at strands of about 2 and of 4°C from tundish inlet to strand, in agreement with plant data over about 700 heats and literature experiments under the same operating conditions, were found. 相似文献

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the hydraulic jump on horizontal rough beds. Experiments were carried out to study the effect of bed roughness on both the sequent depth ratio and the roller length. The investigation allowed the writers to positively test the reliability of a new solution of the momentum equation for the sequent depth ratio as a function of the Froude number and the ratio between the roughness height and the upstream supercritical flow depth.
