Heating from the decay of radioactive nuclides in shutdown reactors plays an important role in the safety evaluation of nuclear power plants. It also must be known in order to design spent fuel storage systems, shutdown reactor cooling systems and heat sink, reprocessing and nuclear waste disposal systems. Of these applications, the analysis of reactor accident scenarios has been the main impetus to develop more accurate methods of decay heat evaluation. It was recognized early in the 1970s that the knowledge was inadequate for safety requirements and that this placed an economic burden on nuclear power plants.Intensive research has been undertaken in the past few years and this has led to a much more precise knowledge of decay heat power in Light Water Reactors (LWR). With additional work this improvement can soon be extended to other reactors types. This paper reviews the background, recent research developments and the evolution of a major revision of the American Nuclear Society Standard for decay heat power in LWR.  相似文献

Summary The synthesis and characterization of side-chain liquid crystalline copolymers obtained from a monomer pair containing a mesogenic unit which exhibits constitutional isomerism are presented. The particular example described refers to copolymethacrylates obtained from 4-hydroxy-4-methoxy--methylstilbene and 4-methoxy-4-hydroxy--methylstilbene containing six and eleven methylenic units in the spacer. The polymer containing six methylenic units presents a nematic mesophase, while the polymer containing eleven methylenic units presents a smectic A or C mesophase. None of these polymers exhibited side-chain crystallization.  相似文献

Solvent-refined lignite (SRL) and bituminous coals (SRC) are only partially soluble in good standard carbon-13 n.m.r. solvents. A survey of other possible solvents for SRLs and SRCs showed that sym-triazine at 86 °C solvated SRL as well as pyridine, but did not absorb in the regions of interest (5–60 and 90–160 ppm relative to TMS). Model hydrocarbons, phenols and an alcohol in sym-triazine gave aromaticities (fa) accurate within the standard deviation (0.01 to 0.001) when proper FT carbon-13 techniques were used. An alkene and an aliphatic amine reacted with sym-triazine and gave inaccurate values of fa.  相似文献

A new donor explosive, ROWANEX 3601 has been selected for use in the large scale gap test (LSGT). It was necessary to calibrate the peak pressure recorded on the central axis of the PMMA gap using calibrated piezo‐resistive pressure transducers as a function of the gap thickness. The stress history within the PMMA gap was measured and the peak pressure plotted against gap thickness as a calibration. Further effects were noted relating to the curvature of front exiting the donor charge and the validity of the measurement of the transmitted shock at small gap thicknesses.  相似文献

Rod-shaped ZnO-In2O3 junction structure was obtained by bottom up approach of nanostructure fabrication and characterization. In2Zn3 alloy was evaporated in a tube furnace of 1150 °C temperature and 5 × 10−1 Torr vacuum. The deposit collected on silicon wafer placed down stream of the tube furnace was examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SEM and EDS results proved the existence of rod-shaped ZnO-In2O3 junction structure. TEM analysis revealed the orientation relationship between ZnO and In2O3. It is suggested that this structure is formed via vapor-liquid-solid process and the suitable combination of source temperature, tube vacuum, and substrate temperature is the key for the formation of such novel structure. This report demonstrates the possibility of fabricating junction structure by bottom up approach, expanding its capability of fabricating structure with desired properties.  相似文献
