Chalcogenide coatings are investigated to obtain either optical components for spectral applications or optochemical sensors in the mid-infrared. The deposition of Ge(15)Sb(20)S(65) and Te(20)As(30)Se(50) chalcogenide glasses is performed by two physical techniques: electron-beam and pulsed-laser deposition. The quality of the film is analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy to characterize the morphology, topography, and chemical composition. The optical properties and optical constants are also determined. A CF(4) dry etching is performed on these films to obtain a channeled optical waveguide. For a passband filter made by electron-beam deposition, cryolite as a low-refractive-index material and chalcogenide glasses as high-refractive-index materials are used to favor a large refractive-index contrast. A shift of a centered wavelength of a photosensitive passband filter is controlled by illumination time.  相似文献

After a real estate boom the housing market took a dramatic turn in Spain, where repossessions and evictions are now a big social problem. Hundreds of thousands have lost their home since 2008 and many more are at risk. This paper provides a qualitative analysis of the Spanish experience and puts it into a comparative West European perspective. The risk of repossession was found to have six dimensions: the employment situation, the social protection schemes, the structure of the housing and housing finance markets, the lending practices, the house price development and the effectiveness of policies to prevent repossession. Spain ‘scores’ badly on all six dimensions, which explain the large number of repossessions. Only recently, and under strong societal pressure, has the Spanish government developed policies to tackle this problem.  相似文献

On several paintings by artists of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th Century a darkening of the original yellow areas, painted with the chrome yellow pigment (PbCrO(4), PbCrO(4)·xPbSO(4), or PbCrO(4)·xPbO) is observed. The most famous of these are the various Sunflowers paintings Vincent van Gogh made during his career. In the first part of this work, we attempt to elucidate the degradation process of chrome yellow by studying artificially aged model samples. In view of the very thin (1-3 μm) alteration layers that are formed, high lateral resolution spectroscopic methods such as microscopic X-ray absorption near edge (μ-XANES), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (μ-XRF), and electron energy loss spectrometry (EELS) were employed. Some of these use synchrotron radiation (SR). Additionally, microscopic SR X-ray diffraction (SR μ-XRD), μ-Raman, and mid-FTIR spectroscopy were employed to completely characterize the samples. The formation of Cr(III) compounds at the surface of the chrome yellow paint layers is particularly observed in one aged model sample taken from a historic paint tube (ca. 1914). About two-thirds of the chromium that is present at the surface has reduced from the hexavalent to the trivalent state. The EELS and μ-XANES spectra are consistent with the presence of Cr(2)O(3)·2H(2)O (viridian). Moreover, as demonstrated by μ-XANES, the presence of another Cr(III) compound, such as either Cr(2)(SO(4))(3)·H(2)O or (CH(3)CO(2))(7)Cr(3)(OH)(2) [chromium(III) acetate hydroxide], is likely.  相似文献

This work describes an experimental method, based on the combination of schlieren photography and a 2.5-cm-wide-bounded ultrasonic beam of 10 MHz, used to detect the fiber direction in composites. Experiments are described on unidirectional and fabric fiber-reinforced composites. The method exploits the spatially dependent reflection coefficient because of discontinuities in the fiber density. The typical discontinuities that reflect the fiber direction are detectable if 10-MHz ultrasound is applied. Lower frequencies are not susceptible to these typical discontinuities, whereas larger frequencies would make the use of schlieren photography more difficult.  相似文献

This review article focuses on the suitability of Er3+-doped tellurium oxide glass for optical amplification in fiber, waveguides and as a component for optical integration to meet the emerging demand for broadband and fiber-to-home networks. The importance of the glass structure, in the context of Er3+-ion spectroscopy, is emphasized for dissolving large concentrations of dopant ions. The spectroscopic methodologies involved in maximizing the gain per unit length of Er3+-doped fiber is explained. In Part II of this study, a review of how the fiber gain data was then employed to engineer amplification in waveguides, which can be integrated with semiconductor pump sources, is presented.  相似文献

In this work, step-index 40/125 μm diameter optical fibers produced from two slightly different lithium phosphate glasses were subjected to mechanical characterization. Tensile tests were carried out on fibers with gage length from 10 to 150 mm, allowing for the determination of the failure stress (ranging from ≈200 to 400 MPa) and the elastic modulus (60 GPa). Some tests were also performed with the fiber “immersed” in water; an important subcritical crack growth effect was pointed out, and a fatigue susceptibility parameter (n) equal to 11.4 was determined. The analysis of fracture mirror allows an estimated fracture toughness equal to 0.5 MPa m0.5.  相似文献

This paper describes the history and the state of the art in radiation mode theory (RMT) in ultrasonics. The RMT originates from electromagnetism in which it has proved to be very efficient in the field of wave guides and discontinuities. In ultrasonics, the RMT made its entrance only a decade ago and has already proved to be very efficient in describing the interaction of sound with discontinuities such as a step on a plate, a liquid wedge, the extremity of a plate and much more. It is likely that the development of the RMT for two-dimensional (2-D) isotropic media has come almost to an end. This paper lists the results obtained so far. Further extensions to more complicated media are to be expected in the coming decade.  相似文献
