As organizations rush to embrace the World Wide Web as their primary application infrastructure, they should not bypass the benefit of hypermedia support. The Web's infrastructure can serve as an interface to all interactive applications and, over time, will become the graphical user interface model for new applications. Ubiquitous hypermedia support should become the jewel of the Web environment. Through Web integration, hypermedia could become an integral part of every interactive application. With the proper tools to support hypermedia in Web application development, it will become second nature for developers and individual authors to provide supplemental links and hypermedia navigation. However, as organizations adopt the Web as their primary application infrastructure, designers may use Java and other tools to recreate current application functionality, and not take advantage of the Web's hypermedia-augmented infrastructure. If users, designers, MIS departments and organizations don't demand hypermedia support, hypermedia may get lost in the frenzy of Web integration  相似文献

There are two main approaches to manage changes in XML documents, change‐tracking and diff. Change‐tracking tools, which record edit actions while they are performed on the source document, are able to capture the exact editing process. That is much more difficult for diff algorithms, which have to reconstruct it by comparing two different versions. Interestingly, these algorithms process both text‐centric and data‐centric XML documents the same way. In this paper, we show that more accurate, clear, and human‐readable results can be achieved on text‐centric resources, by employing specific models and algorithms. We describe and discuss a specialized diff algorithm for such a class of documents. We also compare a Java implementation of the algorithm, named JNDiff, with other general‐purpose or data‐oriented diff tools, focusing on the quality of their output. Overlapping markup refers to the issue of how to represent data structures more expressive than trees—for example direct acyclic graphs—using markup (meta-) languages which have been designed with trees in mind—for example XML. In this paper we observe that the state of the art in overlapping markup is far from being the widespread and consistent stack of standards and technologies readily available for XML and develop a roadmap for closing the gap.

In particular we present in the paper the design and implementation of what we believe to be the first needed step, namely: a syntactic conversion framework among the plethora of overlapping markup serialization formats. The algorithms needed to perform the various conversions are presented in pseudo-code, they are meant to be used as blueprints for researchers and practitioners which need to write batch translation programs from one format to the other.  相似文献

We describe an x-ray absorption method for in situ density measurement of non-crystalline materials in the diamond anvil cell using a monochromatic synchrotron x-ray microbeam. Sample thickness, which is indispensable in the absorption method, can be determined precisely by extrapolating the thickness profile of the gasket obtained by x-ray absorption and diffraction measurements. Diamond deformation across the sample chamber becomes noticeable at high pressures above 10 GPa, which can be monitored with a precision better than 1%, as demonstrated by measurements on crystalline Ag. We have applied the developed method to measure densities of the classic network-forming GeO(2) glass in octahedral form at pressures up to 56 GPa. The fit to the pressure-volume data with the Birch-Murnaghan equation from 13 to 56 GPa gives parameters of V(0)=23.2+/-0.4 cm(3)mol and K=35.8+/-3.0 GPa, assuming that K(')=4. This method could be applicable for in situ determination of the density of liquids and other noncrystalline materials using a diamond anvil cell up to ultrahigh pressures.  相似文献

A generalized Vlasov theory for composite beams with arbitrary geometric and material sectional properties is developed based on the variational asymptotic beam sectional analysis. Instead of invoking ad hoc kinematic assumptions, the variational-asymptotic method is used to rigorously split the geometrically-nonlinear, three-dimensional elasticity problem into a linear, two-dimensional, cross-sectional analysis and a nonlinear, one-dimensional, beam analysis. The developed theory is implemented into VABS, a general-purpose, finite-element based beam cross-sectional analysis code. Several problems are studied to compare the present theory with published results and a commercial three-dimensional finite element code. The present work focuses on the issues concerning the use of the Vlasov correction in the context of the accuracy of the resulting beam theory. The systematic comparison with three-dimensional finite element analysis results helps to quantitatively demonstrate both the advantages and limitations of the Vlasov theory.  相似文献

The operation named venting is a step in the sterilization process in retorts using steam pressure. It is intended to remove all air from the inside of the equipment by injecting steam. Although only for a short period of time, great quantities of steam are used, making venting an expensive operation. This study aimed to evaluate an alternative to the venting process with a reduction in steam energy expenditure. A system was adapted and instrumented, which allowed for the study of the phenomenon of venting using water for the air displacement. The alternative methodology proposed was shown to be promising and efficient for an empty retort with no load. The efficiency at this stage of the study was based on evaluating the differences in the temperature readings using a glass mercury thermometer and the temperatures recorded by thermocouples distributed within the retort.  相似文献
