General-base catalysis in the active site of serine proteasesis carried out by the imidazole side chain of a histidine. Duringformation of the transition state, an adjacent carboxylic acidgroup stabilizes the positive charge that forms on the general-basecatalyst and as a result contributes several orders of magnitudeto the catalytic efficiency of these enzymes. In the recentlydiscovered family of self-cleaving proteins exemplified by theLexA repressor of Escherichia coli, instead of the imidazoleof a histidine, the active-site general-base catalyst was foundto be the -amino of a lysine. The considerably higher capacityof the lysine side chain for proton acceptance raises interestingquestions concerning the role of electrostatic interactionsin the mechanism of proton transfer by this highly basic group.The negative charge elimination studies described here and theireffects on the kmax and pK of LexA self-cleavage are consistentwith a model in which electrostatic interactions between anacidic side chain and the general-base catalyst form a barrierto proton transfer. The implications are that the -amino group,unlike the imidazole group, is capable of effecting proton transferwithout the intervention of a countercharge. 相似文献

This paper presents a three-electrode capacitive fluidic sensor for detecting an air bubble inside a fluidic channel such as blood vessels, oil or medical liquid channels. The capacitor is designed and fabricated based on a printed circuit board (PCB). The electrodes are fabricated by using copper via structure through top to bottom surface of the PCB. A plastic pipe is layout through the capacitive sensor and perpendicular to the PCB surface. Capacitance of sensor changes when an air bubble inside fluidic flow cross the sensor. The capacitance change can be monitored by using a differential capacitive amplifier, a lock-in amplifier, filter and an NI acquisition card. Signal is processed and calculated on a computer. Air bubble inside the liquid flow are detected by monitor the unbalance signal between the three electrode potential voltages. Output voltage depends on the volume of the air bubble due to dielectric change between capacitor’s electrodes. Output voltage is up to 53 mV when an 2.28 mm3 air bubble crosses the sensing channel. Air bubble velocity can be estimated based on the output pulse signal. This proposed fluidic sensor can be used for void fraction detection in medical devices and systems; fluidic characterization; and water–gas, oil–water and oil–water–gas multiphase flows in petroleum technology. That structure also can apply to the micro-size for detecting in microfluidic to monitor and control changes in microfluidic channels. 相似文献

Stimulus–response compatibility has been a staple of human factors since the early 1950s, when it was established by Paul Fitts, one of the founders of human factors. The importance of maintaining spatial compatibility is indicated in textbooks, but maintaining compatibility in design is not a simple task, because there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. This article focuses on spatial compatibility and the more recently investigated affective compatibility, highlighting their implications for human–computer interaction. An overview of other cognitive compatibility principles and examples of their use in human–computer interaction is also provided. Document layout analysis or page segmentation is the task of decomposing document images into many different regions such as texts, images, separators, and tables. It is still a challenging problem due to the variety of document layouts. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid method, which includes three main stages to deal with this problem. In the first stage, the text and non-text elements are classified by using minimum homogeneity algorithm. This method is the combination of connected component analysis and multilevel homogeneity structure. Then, in the second stage, a new homogeneity structure is combined with an adaptive mathematical morphology in the text document to get a set of text regions. Besides, on the non-text document, further classification of non-text elements is applied to get separator regions, table regions, image regions, etc. The final stage, in refinement region and noise detection process, all regions both in the text document and non-text document are refined to eliminate noises and get the geometric layout of each region. The proposed method has been tested with the dataset of ICDAR2009 page segmentation competition and many other databases with different languages. The results of these tests showed that our proposed method achieves a higher accuracy compared to other methods. This proves the effectiveness and superiority of our method. 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the controllability for a class of nonlocal second‐order impulsive neutral stochastic integro‐differential equations with infinite delay in Hilbert spaces. More precisely, a set of sufficient conditions for the controllability results of nonlocal second‐order impulsive neutral stochastic integro‐differential equations with infinite delay are derived by means of the Banach fixed point theorem combined with theories of a strongly continuous cosine family of bounded linear operators. Modeling users’ preferences and needs is one of the most important personalization tasks in information retrieval domain. In this paper a model for user profile tuning in document retrieval systems is considered. Methods for tuning the user profile based on analysis of user preferences dynamics are experimentally evaluated to check whether with growing history of user activity the created user profile can converge to his preferences. As the statistical analysis of series of simulations has shown, proposed methods of user profile actualization are effective in the sense that the distance between user preferences and his profile becomes smaller and smaller along with time. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce an internet voting protocol which satisfies desired security requirements of electronic voting. In the newly proposed protocol, we allow the adversaries to get more power than in any previous works. They can be coercers or vote buyers outside, and corrupted parties inside our system. These adversaries also have ability to collude with each other to ruin the whole system. Our main contribution is to design an internet voting protocol which is unsusceptible to most of sophisticated attacks. We employ the blind signature technique and the dynamic ballots instead of complex cryptographic techniques to preserve privacy in electronic voting. Moreover, we also aim at the practical system by improving the blind signature scheme and removing physical assumptions which have often been used in the previous works. 相似文献

This paper presents a bio-inspired mechanism design for a quadruped walking robot. The approach is derived from the observation on the behaviors of quadruped locomotion, skeletal structure, and the study on the stability of walking based on morphological analysis. In the first, we define the design parameters such as the dimensions of the body and limbs, the center of mass position, and locomotion mechanisms based on surveys on the literatures from biologists. Then, by using the parameters, we propose an useful framework for determining the design parameters of a quadruped walking robot. For implementations, we manufacture a dog-type self-contained quadruped walking robot, named AiDIN-III (Artificial Digitigrade for Natural Environment version III) and the effectiveness of the proposed idea is validated via experimental works. 相似文献
