Discrimnation Of Equilibrium Moisture Equations For Soybean Usmg Nonlinearity Measures

The main goal of this work is to find the best way to represent the equilibrium conditions between soybean and air. The experimental study was based on the static method using saturated salt solutions in order to regulate the vapour pressure of the air surrounding the grains. We developed a discrimination study among some ensting equations used for grains. To discriminate these equations we explored some non-linearity measures. The obtained results showed that the Halsey modified equation was the best model in terms of nonsignifiance for bias and non-linearity measures. The distribution for the estimated parameters. using simulation procedures, also showed good normal behavior for the Halsey equation.     

Equivalence between Ampere and Grassmann's forces

We calculate the force on part of a single closed circuit due to the remaining circuit in four different geometries according to the forces of Ampere and Grassmann. All analytical calculations are performed using surface or volume current elements in order to avoid the divergences which appear with linear current elements of zero diameter. We conclude that when we consider the action of a closed circuit as a whole and utilize only circuits with closed lines of current, there will be an equivalence between the expressions of Grassmann and Ampere. This means that both of them are compatible with the experimental findings related to Ampere's bridge, contrary to the opinion of some authors     

Twisted axially loaded rod with shear and compressibility

Summary Stability of a twisted and axially compressed elastic rod is analysed using the Euler method of adjacent equilibrium configuration. The constitutive equations of the rod are assumed in the form that takes into account both shear of the cross-sections and compressibility of the rod axis. It is shown that bifurcation points of the non-linear system of equations describing equilibrium are determined from the linearized system of equations. The influence of shear and compressibility on the critical values of twisting couple and compressive force is obtained. Moreover, the bifurcation pattern is examined by using the Liapunov-Schmidt method.     

Three-node, 40 Gbit/s OTDM network experiment using electro-opticswitches

The authors demonstrate, for the first time, a three node optically time division multiplexed network with a maximum capacity of 40 Gbit/s. Electro-optical switches were used for both `drop and insert' and demultiplexing, and electronic clock recovery provided synchronisation throughout the network     

Optimization of a schottky barrier mixer diode in the submillimeter wave region

We have designed a mixer Schottky barrier diode (SBD) for use in the submillimeter wave region with a structure optimized for minimum noise temperature. The dependence of mixer noise temperature upon thickness and doping density of the epitaxial layer and diode diameter of SBDs was simulated within the framework of existing theories. Special care was taken to formulate the SBD current-voltage and capacitance-voltage relations in a way that correctly describes the behavior of real SBDs.
