In recent years, a few sequential covering algorithms for classification rule discovery based on the ant colony optimization meta-heuristic (ACO) have been proposed. This paper proposes a new ACO-based classification algorithm called AntMiner-C. Its main feature is a heuristic function based on the correlation among the attributes. Other highlights include the manner in which class labels are assigned to the rules prior to their discovery, a strategy for dynamically stopping the addition of terms in a rule’s antecedent part, and a strategy for pruning redundant rules from the rule set. We study the performance of our proposed approach for twelve commonly used data sets and compare it with the original AntMiner algorithm, decision tree builder C4.5, Ripper, logistic regression technique, and a SVM. Experimental results show that the accuracy rate obtained by AntMiner-C is better than that of the compared algorithms. However, the average number of rules and average terms per rule are higher.  相似文献

L. monocytogenes serovar 1/2a NCTC 7973 was passaged through rabbits and the severity of infection at each passage was determined by counting viable bacteria from infested organs and recording the time of death. A comparative evaluation of the levels of hemolysin produced in vitro by the original and six variant cultures (V1-V6) was done by determination of hemolytic units (CHU). While virulence of the cultures enhanced at each passage (2.2 x 10(9) CFU/g of the spleen for V6 as compared to 5.0 x 10(6) CFU/g spleen for the parent culture), the CHU decreased considerably, 3 CHU for the V6 as compared to 40 CHU for the parent strain. The results suggest that the level of in vitro production of listeriolysin may not parallel the pathogenicity of L. monocytogenes for rabbits.  相似文献

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) regulates various fundamental cellular events including cell proliferation, protein synthesis, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy. Tumor suppressive miR-99b-5p has been implicated in regulating PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling in a variety of types of cancer. Our previous study suggested the reciprocal miR-99b-5p/MTOR (downregulated/upregulated) pairing as a key microRNA-mRNA regulatory component involved in the prostate cancer (PCa) disparities. In this study, we further validated the expression profiles of mTOR and miR-99b-5p in the PCa, colon, breast, and lung cancer specimens and cell lines. The immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence, Western blot, and RT-qPCR assays have confirmed that mTOR is upregulated while miR-99b-5p is downregulated in different patient cohorts and a panel of cancer cell lines. Intriguingly, elevated nuclear mTOR expression was observed in African American PCa and other advanced cancers. Transfection of the miR-99b-5p mimic resulted in a significant reduction in nuclear mTOR and androgen receptor (AR), while a slight/moderate to no decrease in cytoplasmic mTOR and AR in PCa and other cancer cells, suggesting that miR-99b-5p inhibits mTOR and AR expression and their nuclear translocation. Moreover, overexpression of miR-99b-5p targets/inhibits AR-mTOR axis, subsequently initiating cell apoptosis and sensitizing docetaxel-induced cytotoxicity in various cancers. In conclusion, our data suggest that reciprocal miR-99b-5p/nuclear mTOR pairing may be a more precise diagnostic/prognostic biomarker for aggressive PCa, than miR-99b-5p/MTOR pairing or mTOR alone. Targeting the AR-mTOR axis using miR-99b-5p has also been suggested as a novel therapeutic strategy to induce apoptosis and overcome chemoresistance in aggressive PCa.  相似文献

Otitis media with effusion (OME) is a disease most commonly affecting the paediatric population. However, it is a condition that is also seen in adults and does lead to significant morbidity. We studied the effect of surgical treatment of OME in an adult population and found that the subjective relief of symptoms exceeded the objective audiometric gain. In children where subjective symptoms are perhaps more difficult to assess the clinician needs to beware of underestimating the effect of a hearing loss.  相似文献

The novel core–shell nanostructured SDC/Na2CO3 composite has been demonstrated as a promising electrolyte material for low-temperature SOFCs. However, as a nanostructured material, stability might be doubted under elevated temperature due to their high surface energy. So in order to study the thermal stability of SDC/Na2CO3 nanocomposite, XRD, BET, SEM and TGA characterizations were carried on after annealing samples at various temperatures. Crystallite sizes, BET surface areas, and SEM results indicated that the SDC/Na2CO3 nanocomposite possesses better thermal stability on nanostructure than pure SDC till 700 °C. TGA analysis verified that Na2CO3 phase exists steadily in the SDC/Na2CO3 composite. The performance and durability of SOFCs based on SDC/Na2CO3 electrolyte were also investigated. The cell delivered a maximum power density of 0.78 W cm−2 at 550 °C and a steady output of about 0.62 W cm−2 over 12 h operation. The high performances together with notable thermal stability make the SDC/Na2CO3 nanocomposite as a potential electrolyte material for long-term SOFCs that operate at 500–600 °C.  相似文献

Semiconducting-ionic membranes (SIMs) have exhibited significant superiority to replace the conventional ionic electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). One interesting phenomenon is that the SIMs can successfully avoid the underlying short-circuiting issue and power losses while bringing significantly enhanced power output. It is crucial to understand the physics in such devices as they show distinct electrochemical processes with conventional fuel cells. We first presented experimental studies of a SIM fuel cell based on a composite of semiconductor LiCo0.8Fe0.2O2 (LCF) and ionic conductor Sm-doped CeO2 (SDC), which achieved a remarkable power density of 1150 mW cm?2 at 550 °C along with a high open circuit voltage (OCV) of 1.04 V. Then, for the first time we used a physical model via combining a semiconductor-ionic contact junction with a rectifying layer which blocks the electron leakage to describe such unique SIM device and excellent performance. Current and power are the most important characteristics for the device, by introducing the rectifying layer we described the SIM physical nature and new device process. This work presented a new view on advanced SIM SOFC science and technology from physics.  相似文献
