Foveation-Based Error Resilience and Unequal Error Protection over Mobile Networks

By exploiting new human-machine interface techniques, such as visual eyetrackers, it should be possible to develop more efficient visual multimedia services associated with low bandwidth, dynamic channel adaptation and robust visual data transmission. In this paper, we introduce foveation-based error resilience and unequal error protection techniques over highly error-prone mobile networks. Each frame is spatially divided into foveated and background layers according to perceptual importance. Perceptual importance is determined either through an eye tracker or by manually selecting a region of interest. We attempt to improve reconstructed visual quality by maintaining the high visual source throughput of the foveated layer using foveation-based error resilience and error correction using a combination of turbo codes and ARQ (automatic reQuest). In order to alleviate the degradation of visual quality, a foveation based bitstream partitioning is developed. In an effort to increase the source throughput of the foveated layer, we develop unequal delay-constrained ARQ (automatic reQuest) and rate compatible punctured turbo codes where the punctual pattern of RCPC (rate compatible punctured convolutional) codes in H.223 Annex C is used. In the simulation, the visual quality is significantly increased in the area of interest using foveation-based error resilience and unequal error protection; (as much as 3 dB FPSNR (foveal peak signal to noise ratio) improvement) at 40% packet error rate. Over real-fading statistics measured in the downtown area of Austin, Texas, the visual quality is increased up to 1.5 dB in PSNR and 1.8 dB in FPSNR at a channel SNR of 5 dB.     

Surfactant behavior and its influence on the viscosity of associative thickeners solutions, thickened latex dispersions, and waterborne latex coatings

Surfactants, varying in their chemical composition and hydrophobic behavior, are used in the formulation of a waterborne coating. These differences influence their aggregation in micellar structures, their interaction with associative thickeners, and in particular, the synergies present in their competitive adsorptions on the disperse phases in a waterborne coating. Adsorption of HEUR thickeners on latexes and the ability of surfactants to displace them from those surfaces is an important variable in the dispersion’s viscosity. With large particle latexes, viscosity increases arise primarily from the network built through the interaction of HEURs with surfactants in the aqueous phase. Fluorescence is used to verify the mechanism by which surfactants enhance associative thickener viscosities. That is best achieved with nonionic surfactants, because of their synergies with large hydrophobe HEURs at low concentration. With decreasing latex particle size the adsorbed species is an important contributor to the dispersion’s viscosity through its contribution to the latex’s effective volume fraction increase and when the size of the adsorbed HEUR is matched to the separation distances of the latex at 0.25 volume fraction. Achieving controlled shear-thinning behavior in small particle size latex paints with the economic constraints on the amount of HEUR required to obtain 90 KU viscosities are discussed. 山西引黄工程南干线7# 隧洞衬砌外水压力研究

本文采用综合修正系数取代规范建议的单一折减系数,用渗流场分析方法确定作用在引黄入晋南干线7#隧洞衬砌上的外水压力。由己知钻孔水位及泉水位反演出各地层的渗透张量及地表入渗强度求得初始渗流场。衬砌外水压力分析中考虑了衬砌混凝土的渗透性以及排水、灌浆等工程措施的影响。根据分析结果,提出了系统排水孔布置的建议,得出了在相应的排水减压措施下衬砌厚度由原设计35cm减至25cm,这一建议已被采用,取得了巨大经济效益。     

铁通资源管理系统的设计和实现

在分析铁路通信资源结构的基础上,利用地理信息系统技术、数据库技术和客户/服务器(C/S)模式,为铁通(ChinaTietong)各级分公司和运营部门提供一套较为完善的资源管理信息系统。文中分析了铁通资源的结构与资源之间的关联,介绍了系统功能、物理结构及体系结构,详细分析了数据库设计、地理信息系统和系统安全性所采用的关键技术。这套系统的应用对铁通网络管理的现代化将起到重要的推动作用。     

X-Ray Measurement of Residual Stress in Plastic Bonded Explosives

The X-ray diffractive technology was adopted for tentative study of plastic bonded explosive. The datum of some new diffractive peaks in standard PDF cards were added. The effects of strain to interplanar distance and crystal size of the explosive were studied. The results show that grain size of plastic bonded explosive is decreasing with the increasing of the pressure, and the residual stress of the explosive is draw stress.     

注入剖面双相态放射性测井方法研究

文章结合注入剖面同位素示踪和放射性相关流量两种测井方法的特点,提出了固态微球同位素和液态同位素同时使用的综合测井方法.应用放射性相关流量测井的直观性,量化同位素示踪测井中的不确定因素,达到提高测井成功率和资料解释精度的目的.     

汽轮机数字电液控制系统及其应用

介绍了汽轮机数字电液控制系统（DEH）的硬件组成，着重论述了DEH的控制原理和控制过程。结合天津碱厂新建4^#机组,与前3台机组的液压控制调节方式进行比较，突出了DEH控制的优势。对DEH系统的软件作了介绍。同时对DEH的控制系统Foxboro I／A Series的系统软件和系统网络作了较详细的论述。最后，讨论了运行中可能出现的问题和解决方法。
