Direct atomic scale analysis of the distribution of Cu valence states in Cu/γ-Al2O3 catalysts

In this paper, the microstructure of a 1 wt.% Cu/γ-Al₂O₃ catalyst that was reduced in a 4% hydrogen/argon atmosphere at temperatures of 523, 773 and 1073 K, is studied by Z-contrast imaging and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) in a scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM). Results show that the copper species are well dispersed when the catalyst is reduced below 523 K. At 773 K, separated Cu(I) and Cu(0) species are found existing as ring-like and bulk-like particles. This appears to indicate that the copper has not been reduced to its metallic form due to the interaction between the copper oxide and the support. Large spherical particles having core-shell structures with Cu(I) in the shells and Cu(0) in the cores are generated when the catalyst is reduced at 1073 K. The formation of partially oxidized copper species upon reduction at 1073 K is attributed to the metallic copper interaction with the alumina support. This study also demonstrates that high-spatial resolution Z-contrast imaging and EELS performed simultaneously can provide unique information on the morphology and chemistry of metal species in supported metal catalysts.     

Synthesis and properties of polystyrene/graphite nanocomposites

In this paper, graphite/polystyrene nanocomposite is synthesized by in situ polymerization of styrene in a tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution system of potassium (K)-THF-graphite intercalation compound (GIC). K-THF-GIC has proved to initiate polymerization of styrene by the anionic mechanism. Due to the interfacial interaction between the graphite nanolayers and the polymer, the composites exhibit higher glass transition temperature and higher thermal stability when compared to polystyrene. The percolation threshold in the conductivity of the composites is lesser than 8.2 wt% and the dielectric constant can reach as high as 136.

The medullary raphe system of sheep and goat can be divided in the solitary nuclei raphe magnus and pallidus besides the impaired Nucleus raphe paramedianus. The nucleus raphe magnus begins in the caudal end of the medulla oblongata running far to the pons. On the other hand you can follow the nucleus raphe pallidus and paramedianus only in distinct area near the obex. Different types of neurons are isolated and described in light- and electronmicroscopical investigations. All three nuclei are poor of synapses.

反应烧结法制备MgAlON的合成机理及烧结行为的研究

通过对以Al2 O3、MgO和AlN为起始原料 ,在氮气气氛中反应烧结合成MgAlON材料合成机理的研究发现 :在 12 0 0℃以前 ,MgO与Al2 O3反应生成镁铝尖晶石 ,此后 ,随着温度的升高 ,Al2O3不断向所形成的尖晶石中固溶 ;在 130 0℃以前 ,AlN基本上不参与反应 ,而在更高的温度下 ,AlN开始向尖晶石中固溶形成MgAlON ,约在 15 5 0℃时形成单一的MgAlON相。用热膨胀仪检测了试样的线变化率随温度和时间的变化 ,用最小二乘法回归分析了试样线变化率的实验数据 ,并根据烧结理论对MgAlON材料烧结初期的动力学进行了探讨。结果表明 ,MgAlON材料烧结初期的烧结机理以体积扩散为主     

试制STM-R80钻探用无缝钢管

采用42MnMo7、41MnV5钢锻坯,经热轧穿孔、冷拔加工,试制出STM-R80地质钻探管。该地质管经检验和使用,质量符合要求。介绍了钢的化学成分、试制的主要工艺过程及其参数。     

Radiation of millimeter waves from NRD leaky wave antennas withtapered transition and tuning aperture

The radiation of millimeter waves from the nonradiative dielectric (NRD) leaky wave antennas with the tapered transition and the tuning aperture is investigated. An accurate theory for the leakage constant and the phase constant of the antennas is presented, which is based on the generalized scattering parameters considering the higher-order mode interactions at the discontinuities. The associated transverse equivalent network involves the characterization of the mode couplings at two air-to-dielectric interfaces, the coupled mode analysis of the tapered transition, and the calculation of the radiation fields at the tuning aperture via the extended spectral domain approach. The interesting behavior of the present modified configuration of NRD leaky wave antennas is illustrated by typical examples. The validity of the theory is confirmed by the comparison of the theoretical results with experimental data for the limiting cases     

The determination of protein hydrophobicity. 1. Determination of the hydrophobicity of selected cereal and milk proteins using their sodium dodecyl sulfate binding capacities]

The sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) binding capacities of secalin, gliadin and gluten in the presence of a very low SDS concentration were determined and compared to the SDS binding capacities of bovine serum albumin (BSA), beta-lactoglobulin, ovalbumin und beta-casein. The SDS binding capacities of endosperm proteins determined in phosphate buffer (pH 6.0) are very low. Only 0.6 microgram .. 0.8 microgram SDS were bound to 500 micrograms of the proteins. This low SDS binding capacities do not correlate with the expected hydrophobicity of these proteins. In comparison, 500 micrograms of ovalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin and BSA each bind 0.5, 5.9 and 13.5 micrograms SDS, respectively. According to literature the SDS binding capacities of these proteins are in correlation with the surface hydrophobicity determined with cis-parinaric acid using the fluorescence probe method. The SDS binding capacities of endosperm proteins increased in the presence of 0.1 N acetic acid and consequently 6.2 micrograms .. 6.9 micrograms SDS were bound to 500 micrograms of the corresponding proteins. beta-casein described as a highly hydrophobic protein binds only 0.9 micrograms SDS to 500 micrograms of it in phosphate puffer (pH 6.0) and 1.2 micrograms SDS in 0.1 N acetic acid, respectively.
