The numerical modelling of non‐linear electroelasticity is presented in this work. Based on well‐established basic equations of non‐linear electroelasticity a variational formulation is built and the finite element method is employed to solve the non‐linear electro‐mechanical coupling problem. A 37-year-old man was referred with thoracic pain after a deceleration trauma. He also had a cerebral contusion and a wrist fracture. There were no sings of hypovolemic shock. Computerized tomography (CT) of the chest and transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE) demonstrated a type B aortic dissection originating just distal to the left subclavian artery. There was a patent false lumen without rupture or distal ischaemia. Conservative treatment was given. A paralytic ileus developed and abdominal complaints persisted for several months. Angiography showed normal patency of mesenteric vessels. On follow-up, 3 years after the accident a slight aortic dilation was found on CT thorax without development of a post-dissection aneurysm. Blunt thoracic injury to the aorta usually gives rise to aortic rupture in the region of the isthmus, which can be complete or partial. In the latter case a false aneurysm may develop. An intimal tear after blunt trauma leading to type B aortic dissection rarely occurs. General principles regarding treatment of type B dissection also apply to this particular condition.  相似文献

The importance of scaling is demonstrated for experiments in small-size test facilities which are used to simulate the thermohydraulic system response of full-size industrial plants. It is shown how scaling facilitates (1) the quantitative ranking of thermohydraulic processes in their order of priority, (2) the rational selection of a test matrix, and therewith (3) the efficient allocation of resources for resolving technical issues of reactor safety.Thermohydraulic processes in components and the system of components are modeled. 29 Scaling groups are presented for systems with forced flow and natural circulation of single- and two-phase flows. System compliances and the matrices of flow inertia and impedance are introduced and scaled, to obtain the scaling criteria for the global interaction between components of integral systems.  相似文献

Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) isolated from ovine hypothalamus is considered to be a member of the vasoactive intestinal peptide/glucagon/secretin/growth hormone-releasing hormone family of peptides. Two forms of PACAP, PACAP38 and PACAP27, have been demonstrated in the rat hypothalamus. The PACAP precursor contains another peptide called PACAP-related peptide (PRP), but so far no information on this peptide in tissue exists. We have developed three radioimmunoassays specific for PACAP38, PACAP27 and PRP and demonstrate that all three preproPACAP peptides are expressed in the rat hypothalamus, the PACAP38/PACAP27 ratio being around 60 and the PACAP38/PRP ratio being around 10. HPLC analysis of hypothalamic extract showed that PACAP38 and PACAP27 are found in only one form corresponding to the respective synthetic peptides, whereas PRP eluted in two peaks, the predominant form corresponding to synthetic PRP1-29. The cellular distribution of PACAP38, PACAP27, and PRP and corresponding mRNA in the hypothalamus was determined with immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization histochemistry. PACAP- and PRP-immunoreactive neuronal perikarya were observed in the medial parvocellular part of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) in colchicine pretreated rats. Some cell bodies of magnocellular variety were found in the PVN. PACAP mRNA containing cells were observed in moderate numbers in the same parts of the paraventricular nucleus. PACAP- and PRP immunoreactive fibres and varicosities were distributed in the PVN and in the periventricular nucleus. These data show that PACAP38, PACAP27 and PRP are expressed in the parvocellular part of the PVN, implying roles as hypothalamic regulatory peptides.  相似文献

At concentrations up to 6.7 ppm, 8-methoxypsoralen, sphondin, and khellin are not toxic to first-instar larvae of the mosquitoAedes aegypti. The irradiation of sensitized larvae with long-wavelength ultraviolet light did not always produce any immediate toxicity enhancement, but delayed effects were clearly visible. These were observed over the development of the organisms from first-instar larvae to adults. No adverse effects were noted when larvae were irradiated in the absence of sensitizers, or when they were placed in solutions of sensitizers which had been previously irradiated with the same light sources. 8-Methoxypsoralen was slightly more phototoxic than its isomer sphondin. Khellin, recently reported to undergo photoinduced cyclization with DNA components, showed minimal phototoxicity in the concentration range used.  相似文献

A test for routine screening of Mozzarella cheese and butter for vegetable fat adulteration is described. Fat is extracted and saponified. The potassium salts of the fatty acids are measured through direct gas chromatographic analysis. A ratio, calculated from the concentrations of butyric and oleic acids, is used to evaluate the purity of a sample. The test offers good precision and can detect less than 10% partially hydrogenated vegetable fat.  相似文献

Hydroxyethylmethyl celluloses (HEMC, DS(Me) 1.46-1.66, DS(HE) = 0.14-0.17) have been analyzed with respect to their methyl and hydroxyethyl pattern in the glucosyl units and along the polymer chain. Methyl groups were located by GLC/MS after direct hydrolysis, reduction, and acetylation, and the distribution of hydroxyethyl residues in the glucosyl units could be determined with enhanced sensitivity after permethylation to unify a certain HE pattern occurring in combination with various methyl patterns in a single peak. To get insight into the distribution of Me and HE along the cellulose chain, a method was developed which overcomes the strong discrimination of relative ion intensities caused by hydroxyalkyl groups and enables quantitative determination of the oligomer composition after random degradation for the first time. This comprises perdeuteriomethylation; partial acid hydrolysis; reductive amination with propylamine; and, finally, permethylation to yield completely O- and N-alkylated, permanently charged oligosaccharides. Although the methyl pattern can be determined by electrospray ionization ion-trap mass spectrometry (ESI-IT-MS) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS), as well, only MALDI-TOF-MS produced representative data for a quantitative evaluation of the HE pattern. Distribution of HE groups matches with a random distribution calculated from the monomer composition, whereas the methyl pattern was heterogeneous to a different extent.  相似文献

In this communication we discuss the properties of tungsten carbide, WC, as anodic electrocatalyst for microbial fuel cell application. The electrocatalytic activity of tungsten carbide is evaluated in the light of its preparation procedure, its structural properties as well as the pH and the composition of the anolyte solution and the catalyst load. The activity of the noble-metal-free electrocatalyst towards the oxidation of several common microbial fermentation products (hydrogen, formate, lactate, ethanol) is studied for microbial fuel cell conditions (e.g., pH 5, room temperature and ambient pressure). Current densities of up to 8.8 mA cm−2 are achieved for hydrogen (hydrogen saturated electrolyte solution), and up to 2 mA cm−2 for formate and lactate, respectively. No activity was observed for ethanol electrooxidation.

The electrocatalytic activity and chemical stability of tungsten carbide is excellent in acidic to pH neutral potassium chloride electrolyte solutions, whereas higher phosphate concentrations at neutral pH support an oxidative degradation.  相似文献

Phytochromes are bilin‐containing photoreceptors that are typically sensitive to the red/far‐red region of the visible spectrum. Recently, phytochromes from certain eukaryotic algae have become attractive targets for optogenetic applications because of their unique ability to respond to multiple wavelengths of light. Herein, a combination of time‐resolved spectroscopy and structural approaches across picosecond to second timescales have been used to map photochemical mechanisms and structural changes in this atypical group of phytochromes. The photochemistry of an orange/far‐red light‐sensitive algal phytochrome from Dolihomastix tenuilepis has been investigated by using a combination of visible, IR and X‐ray scattering probes. The entire photocycle, correlated with accompanying structural changes in the cofactor/protein, are reported. This study identifies a complex photocycle for this atypical phytochrome. It also highlights a need to combine outcomes from a range of biophysical approaches to unravel complex photochemical and macromolecular processes in multi‐domain photoreceptor proteins that are the basis of biological light‐mediated signalling.  相似文献
