In this study, agave fiber/linear medium density polyethylene composites were manufactured by rotational molding. A laboratory scale biaxial machine was used, where the internal air temperature during the processing cycle was measured. Two sizes of agave fibers (50 and 100 mesh) were used separately and mixed together (50/50) at concentrations varying between 0 and 15 wt%. The initial mixtures were obtained by dry blending, rotomolded under different operation conditions (oven temperature, processing cycle time, and rotational speeds), and the final pieces were compared. For each process condition, a complete morphological analysis was performed to relate with mechanical properties in terms of tensile, impact, and flexural strength. The results show that there is an optimum fiber concentration around 10%, and blending fiber sizes gave better tensile properties than using each size alone. POLYM. ENG. In the fluidised bed granulation process the effect of nozzle air pressure and binder spray rate on key aggregate quality attributes were studied. The experimental results show that a decrease in nozzle air pressure leads to larger mean granule size. The combination of lowest nozzle air pressure and lowest binder spray rate results in granules with the highest levels of hardness and crispness. The combination of low nozzle air pressure and low binder spray rate results in the least distribution span. Granola hardness was affected by nozzle air pressure. Nozzle air pressure and binder spray rate did not have significant effect on crispness. 相似文献

Statistical prediction of fracture parameters of concrete and implications for choice of testing standard 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This article shows how the fracture energy of concrete, as well as other fracture parameters such as the effective length of the fracture process zone, critical crack-tip opening displacement and the fracture toughness, can be approximately predicted from the standard compression strength, maximum aggregate size, water-cement ratio, and aggregate type (river or crushed). A database, consisting of 238 test data, is extracted from the literature and tabulated, and approximate mean prediction formulae calibrated by this very large data set are developed. A distinction is made between (a) the fracture energy, Gf, corresponding to the area under the initial tangent of the softening stress-separation curve of cohesive crack model, which governs the maximum loads of structures and is obtained by the size effect method (SEM) or related methods (Jenq-Shah two-parameter method and Karihaloo's effective crack model, ECM) and (b) the fracture energy, GF, corresponding to the area under the complete stress-separation curve, which governs large postpeak deflections of structures and is obtained by the work-of-fracture method (WFM) proposed for concrete by Hillerborg. The coefficients of variation of the errors in the prediction formulae compared to the test data are calculated; they are 17.8% for Gf and 29.9% for GF, the latter being 1.67 times higher than the former. Although the errors of the prediction formulae taking into account the differences among different concretes doubtless contribute significantly to the high values of these coefficients of variation, there is no reason for a bias of the statistics in favor of Gf or GF. Thus, the statistics indicate that the fracture energy based on the measurements in the maximum load region is much less uncertain than that based on the measurement of the tail of the postpeak load-deflection curve. While both Gf and GF are needed for accurate structural analysis, it follows that if the testing standard should measure, for the sake of simplicity, only one of these two fracture energies, then Gf is preferable. 相似文献

In the present work, a new and simple Schiff base‐assisted extraction strategy for Ni and Zn from an edible oil matrix with subsequent determination using a flame atomic absorption spectrometer was suggested. According to the green approach, laborious sample‐pretreatment procedures were eliminated via complexation of the analytes with N,N′‐bis(4‐methoxysalycylidene)‐2‐hydroxy‐1,3‐propanediamine (4MSHP) and transferred from the oil phase to the aqueous phase. The complexation properties of 4MSHP, Ni, and Zn were investigated using UV–vis spectrophotometry. The experimental conditions that affect the extraction efficiency were optimized using central composite design. The optimum conditions for the extraction of Ni and Zn were as follows: a volume to oil mass ratio of 0.83 to 1.31 mL g?1 of 4MSHP solution; 62.3‐ and 50.6‐min, stirring time; 27.3 and 31.1 °C, temperature, respectively. The detection limits (3sbm?1) were 0.41 μg g?1 for Ni and 0.16 μg g?1 for Zn. Validation of the suggested work was performed by the analysis of organometallic standard‐doped n‐hexane solutions as certified reference materials under the optimum experimental conditions. The recovery percentages were warranted the accuracy and found as 98.2 ± 1.8% for Ni and 99.8 ± 1.2% for Zn. In addition, relative SD values were below 5% for both the analytes. The Student's t‐test showed that there was no significant difference between the found and doped amount of analytes at 95% confidence level. The features such as the detection technique, cheapness, eco‐friendly solvent usage, and practicality were better compared to the literature. 相似文献

Ultrahigh‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)/polar polyethylene (PE) composites were blended in one nascent particle by in situ polymerization with a hybrid catalyst. Polystyrene‐coated SiO2 particles were used to support the hybrid catalyst. Fe(acac)3/2,6‐bis[1‐(2‐isopropylanilinoethyl)] was supported on SiO2 for the synthesis of UHMWPE, whereas [PhN?C(CH3)CH?C(Ph)O]VCl2 was immobilized on a polystyrene layer to prepare a copolymer of ethylene and 10‐undecen‐1‐ol (polar PE). Importantly, the core part of the supports (the polystyrene layer) exhibited pronounced transfer resistance to 10‐undecen‐1‐ol; this provided an opportunity to keep the inside iron active sites away from the poisoning of 10‐undecen‐1‐ol. Therefore, UHMWPE was simultaneously synthesized with polar PE by in situ polymerization. Interestingly, the morphological results show that UHMWPE and the polar PE were successfully blended in one nascent polymer. This improved the miscibility of the composites, where most of the chains were difficult to crystallize because of the strong interactions between the PE chains and polar chains. Transparent Y2.85Yb0.15Al5O12 ceramics were prepared using an aqueous tape casting and vacuum sintering method. The rheological properties were measured by a rheometer. The results indicate high quality tapes, and ceramics can be obtained by increasing the solid loading of the corresponding slurries. The densities of the tapes increase from 2.42 to 2.69 g/cm3 by increasing the solid loadings from 35 to 50 vol%. The corresponding green body densities range from 52.7 to 57.1% of the theoretical. The solid loading suitable for fabricating transparent Yb:YAG ceramics should be higher than 45 vol%. 相似文献
