This paper examines the crack growth resistance of alkali-activated fly ash concrete under extreme temperatures. Plain and hybrid fibre reinforced alkali activated concrete prepared with fly ash were subjected to a range of temperatures from ? 30 to 300 °C, sustained for 2 h. The alkali activation was effected with a blend of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate. A fibre blend of steel to polypropylene in the volume ratio of 4:1 and a total as high as 1% by volume fraction reinforced the mixtures. The resulting systems were examined for residual strength under compression and splitting tension. Further, notched prisms were loaded under 4-point flexure to evaluate the residual fracture toughness. Based on the results, four different stages for fracture behaviour were identified with superior fibre efficiency seen at sub-zero temperatures. Across the breadth of temperatures examined, adding fibres led to higher residual fracture toughness for those systems that displayed a narrow range of thermal conductivity.  相似文献

Nanowires are arguably the most studied nanomaterial model to make functional devices and arrays. Although there is remarkable maturity in the chemical synthesis of complex nanowire structures, their integration and interfacing to macro systems with high yields and repeatability still require elaborate aligning, positioning and interfacing and post-synthesis techniques. Top-down fabrication methods for nanowire production, such as lithography and electrospinning, have not enjoyed comparable growth. Here we report a new thermal size-reduction process to produce well-ordered, globally oriented, indefinitely long nanowire and nanotube arrays with different materials. The new technique involves iterative co-drawing of hermetically sealed multimaterials in compatible polymer matrices similar to fibre drawing. Globally oriented, endlessly parallel, axially and radially uniform semiconducting and piezoelectric nanowire and nanotube arrays hundreds of metres long, with nanowire diameters less than 15 nm, are obtained. The resulting nanostructures are sealed inside a flexible substrate, facilitating the handling of and electrical contacting to the nanowires. Inexpensive, high-throughput, multimaterial nanowire arrays pave the way for applications including nanowire-based large-area flexible sensor platforms, phase-changememory, nanostructure-enhanced photovoltaics, semiconductor nanophotonics, dielectric metamaterials,linear and nonlinear photonics and nanowire-enabled high-performance composites.  相似文献

Abstract

In this study, hazelnut shell was subjected to thermogravimetric analysis to establish burning profiles in a dynamic dry air atmosphere. The Turkish hazelnut shell with a particle size of ?0.250 mm was heated up to 1,173 K by heating rates of 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 K/min. This study revealed that heating rate during oxidation is an important parameter affecting thermal behavior of hazelnut shell. A strong relation was determined between the heating rate and the intensity of the peaks on the burning profiles.  相似文献

This paper introduces the composite tool electrodes made of electrical conductive powder-filled polyester resin matrix material, providing promise for the electrical discharge machining (EDM) process. The dendrite-shaped copper powder, graphite powder, and their mixture were used as conductive fillers. Six different types of composite electrodes, namely, plain copper-polyester, pressed copper-polyester, furnaced copper-polyester, plain copper-graphite-polyester, pressed copper-graphite-polyester, and furnaced copper-graphite-polyester were prepared. It is found experimentally that increasing v f improved workpiece material removal rate, tool wear rate, relative wear, and electrical conductivity of electrodes. The pressed copper-polyester electrodes were found to be promising in the ED finishing of workpieces at low machining current settings. The practical applicability of the proposed composite electrodes in the industry was also illustrated.  相似文献

Robust image and video communications have become more imperative due to the ubiquitous proliferation of multimedia applications over wireless sensor networks. In this work, the transmission distortions on the image data induced by both channel and instant node failures for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are considered. The effect of two techniques and their integration with multipath transmission are investigated to compensate the multimedia distortions at the expense of incurring additional energy consumption and/or wasting bandwidth resources. First technique is watermarking based error concealment utilizing discrete wavelet transform for embedding downsized replicas of original image into itself. The other is conventional Reed–Solomon (RS) coding utilizing additional information bits to correct bit/symbol errors. Performance results obtained from extensive simulations utilizing a communication and energy model applicable to WSN show that error concealment (EC) integrated schemes, especially EC with multipath fusion (ECMF), are more promising to compensate losses than RS-coding-integrated and pure multipath transmission techniques in WSN.  相似文献

This paper presents a direct command generation technique for digital motion control systems. In this paradigm, higher-order differences of a given trajectory (i.e. position) are calculated and the resulting sequence is compacted via data compression techniques. The overall method is capable of generating trajectory data at variable rates in forward- and reverse-directions with the utilization of a linear interpolator. As a part of the command generation scheme, the paper also proposes a new data compression technique titled ΔY10. Apart from this new method, the performances of the proposed generator employing different compression algorithms (such as Huffman coding, Arithmetic coding, LZW, and run length encoding) are also evaluated through three test cases. The paper illustrates that the ΔY10 technique, which is suitable for real-time hardware implementation, exhibits satisfactory performance in terms of data compaction achieved in the test cases considered.  相似文献

Aims  Undergraduate education in physical education is widely common in Turkey. Postgraduate training is provided mostly by institutes of health sciences, educational science and social sciences. The aim of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of PhD theses in sports sciences. Methods  The database of the Turkish Council of Higher Education has been searched the years 1988–2002 for PhD theses with different combinations of keywords like “Sport(s)”, “All Dissertations” and “Physical Education”. Theses were classified according to the institute, year, university, the title of the mentors and the field of sports sciences. The inter-and intra-validity of ratings were high (Kendall Tau_b=0.84 and 1.00, p <0.01). Results  Most of theses were prepared in Institutes for Health Sciences (n=196, 86.3%), second mostly in Institutes of Social Sciences (n=25, 11.0%). Theses originated mostly from Marmara (n=90, 39.6%), Gazi (n=59, 25.9%) and Dokuz Eylül Universities (n=25, 11.0%). Ninety two theses (46.9%) were prepared in Training and Movement Sciences, 40 (20.4%) in Sports Management, 29 (14.7%) Psycho-Social Fields of Sports Sciences, 23 (11.7%) Sports Health Sciences and 13 (6.6%) in Sports Pedagogy. Conclusion  Most theses were prepared in Institutes of Health Sciences, but the subjects covered the field of training and movement sciences. The unique and multi-disciplinary nature of sports sciences seems to warrant the foundation of an Institute of Sports.  相似文献

We design the simple hierarchical ordered planner (SHOP) and its successor, SHOP2, with two goals in mind: to investigate research issues in automated planning and to provide some simple, practical planning tools. SHOP and SHOP2 are based on a planning formalism called hierarchical task network planning. SHOP and SHOP2 use a search-control strategy called ordered task decomposition, which breaks tasks into subtasks and generates the plan's actions in the same order that the plan executor executes them. So, throughout the planning process, the planner can tell what the state of the world at each step of the plan.  相似文献
