Long fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) are required in applications such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, radars and sonars. It is highly desirable to reduce the size and power requirements of the FFT so as to realise single chip long FFT-based systems targeting portable applications. Presented here is a novel technique to reduce the coefficient memory almost by a factor of four by exploiting the relationships among the coefficient values thereby significantly reducing the area and power requirements of the hardware  相似文献

Angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia or Castleman's Disease (CD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder that manifests itself as a local or generalized tumor-like condition affecting both lymph nodes and non-nodal tissues, usually in the chest and abdomen. Hyaline vascular and plasma cell types have been identified histologically. A new clinical form of CD with multisystemic involvement has been defined as multicentric Castleman's disease. It is very rare in childhood. In this paper we present an eight-year-old boy with multicentric Castleman's disease.  相似文献

A test procedure developed to determine the mixed-mode impact resistance of fibre reinforced concrete materials is described. Results are presented from a series of experiments using a repeated drop-weight impact apparatus for the impact resistance of both polypropylene and steel fibre reinforced concrete. The behaviour of the mixed-mode specimen geometry was investigated under impact loading condition. The effect of the fibre types and contents on the impact fracture energy of the specimens was investigated. A close investigation was made of the positions and formations of the crack patterns. The fracture performance of the plain and fibre reinforced concrete was investigated with the proposed geometry using 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0% by weight in the case of steel fibre, and 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3% by weight in the case of polypropylene fibre.
Resume Aux charges statiques auxquelles les structures en béton sont soumises s'ajoutent souvent des charges dynamiques, parfois significatives, qu'il convient de prendre en compte dans le calcul. Cet article décrit un mode opératoire visant à déterminer la résistance au choc en mode mixte de béton renforcé de fibres (FRC). On y présente les résultats d'une série d'essais utilisant une machine d'essai au choc à répétition (mouton) pour évaluer la résistance de béton renforcé de fibres d'acier et de fibres de polypropylène. On a mis au point une géométrie d'éprouvettes en mode mixte qu'on a soumises à des essais au choc, et on a étudié l'effet des types et des pourcentages de fibres sur la résistance des éprouvettes à la rupture par choc. On s'est aussi livré à une étude précise des emplacements et de la formation des fissures. On a examiné la résistance à la rupture de béton ordinaire et de béton de fibres dans la géométrie proposée avec des pourcentages de 1, 2 et 3% en poids de fibres d'acier, et de 0,1, 0,2 et 0,3% pour les fibres de polypropylène.

Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) was purified from Boletus erythropus using a Sepharose 4B-L-tyrosine-p-amino benzoic acid affinity column. Optimum pH and temperature were found to be 8.0 and 20 °C, respectively, using 4-methylcatechol as a substrate. The enzyme was extremely stable between pH 3.0 and 9.0 after 24 h incubation at 4 °C. B. erythropus PPO was also quite stable between 10 and 30 °C after 4 h incubation. The Km and Vmax values were calculated as 2.8 mM and 1430 U/mg protein by Lineweaver–Burk curve, respectively. The enzyme activity was inhibited by sodium metabisulfite, ascorbic acid, sodium azide and benzoic acid. It was seen that the mushroom PPO was an effective biocatalyst in selected organic solvents, such as dichloromethane, dichloroethane and toluene, when catechin was used as a substrate. All data support that B. erythropus has a highly active PPO, possessing similar biochemical and kinetic characteristics to other plant PPOs.  相似文献

A potential candidate that can be used for emulating different propagation environments is the reverberation chamber (RVC). Since mobility is of primary concern for wireless communication systems, understanding of its consequences is crucial. Mobility causes spectral broadening whose impact is generally evaluated through the observation of Doppler spectrum. In this study, investigation of Doppler spectrum characteristics through the use of an RVC and the methods for the purpose of its manipulation are presented. This study verifies that the Doppler spectrum can be manipulated in various ways. However, unless a precise setup is established it is almost impossible to obtain very specific Doppler shapes in RVCs such as widely known Jakes’ spectrum. Also, a different interpretation of mobility for wireless channels is given by the use of a new concept called motion intensity. This concept is elaborated in terms of both its technical aspects and its impact on wireless channel characterization.  相似文献

In this paper, fundamental limits on time delay estimation are studied for cognitive radio systems, which facilitate opportunistic use of spectral resources. First, a generic Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) expression is obtained in the case of unknown channel coefficients and carrier-frequency offsets (CFOs) for cognitive radio systems with dispersed spectrum utilization. Then, various modulation schemes are considered, and the effects of unknown channel coefficients and CFOs on the accuracy of time delay estimation are quantified. Finally, numerical studies are performed in order to verify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Object

Imaging of myocardial infarct composition is essential to assess efficacy of emerging therapeutics. T 2 * mapping has the potential to image myocardial hemorrhage and fibrosis by virtue of its short T 2 * . We aimed to quantify T 2 * in acute and chronic myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in mice.

Materials and methods

I/R-injury was induced in C57BL/6 mice (n?=?9). Sham-operated mice (n?=?8) served as controls. MRI was performed at baseline, and 1, 7 and 28?days after surgery. MRI at 9.4?T consisted of Cine, T 2 * mapping and late-gadolinium-enhancement (LGE). Mice (n?=?6) were histologically assessed for hemorrhage and collagen in the fibrotic scar.

Results

Baseline T 2 * values were 17.1?±?2.0?ms. At day 1, LGE displayed a homogeneous infarct enhancement. T 2 * in infarct (12.0?±?1.1?ms) and remote myocardium (13.9?±?0.8?ms) was lower than at baseline. On days 7 and 28, LGE was heterogeneous. T 2 * in the infarct decreased to 7.9?±?0.7 and 6.4?±?0.7?ms, whereas T 2 * values in the remote myocardium were 14.2?±?1.1 and 15.6?±?1.0?ms. Histology revealed deposition of iron and collagen in parallel with decreased T 2 * .

Conclusion

T 2 * values are dynamic during infarct development and decrease significantly during scar maturation. In the acute phase, T 2 * values in infarcted myocardium differ significantly from those in the chronic phase. T 2 * mapping was able to confirm the presence of a chronic infarction in cases where LGE was inconclusive. Hence, T 2 * may be used to discriminate between acute and chronic infarctions.  相似文献

Biodiesel utilization has been rapidly growing worldwide as the prime alternative to petrodiesel due to a global rise in diesel fuel demand along with hazardous emissions during its thermochemical conversion. Although, several debatable issues including feedstock availability and price, fuel and food competition, changes in land use and greenhouse gas emission have been raised by using edible as well as inedible feedstocks for the production of biodiesel. However, non-crop feedstocks could be a promising alternative. In this article, waste cooking oils have been recommended as a suitable option for biodiesel production bearing in mind the current national situation. The important factors such as the quantity of waste cooking oil produced, crude oil and vegetable oil import expenses, high-speed diesel imports, waste management issues and environmental hazards are considered. Moreover, process simulation and operating cost evaluation of an acid catalyzed biodiesel production unit are also conducted. The simulation results show that the production cost of waste cooking oil-based biodiesel is about 0.66USD·L-1. We believe that the present overview would open new pathways and ideas for the development of biofuels from waste to energy approach in Pakistan.  相似文献

Electrical insulation is a major security problem in aerospace applications where temperature can reach relatively low values. Epoxy resins are well known as easily formable dielectric materials and can be used to prepare complex insulator parts. In this study, the electrical performance of bisphenol A/epichlorohydrin epoxy resin matrix‐based nanocomposites containing 1, 3, or 6 wt% titanium oxide (TiO2) or aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanofillers are investigated. Composites are characterized with thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy‐coupled electron dispersive spectroscopy, and confocal Raman spectroscopy. Furthermore, the role of additives and their ratio on the resistivity performance of the composites are evaluated from 77 to 500 K by applying a direct current voltage from 1 to 20 V. It is observed that the electrical properties of the matrix are directly influencing the insulation performance of the nanocomposite. For example, the abrupt decrease at 370 K of the positive temperature coefficient of the resin for all nanocomposites. It is found that the most resistive composite contains 3 wt% TiO2 nanoparticles with a value above 3.7.1010 Ω from 77 to 370 K at 20 V. As a result, this work gives information on to the choice of appropriate insulator materials in extreme working conditions.  相似文献
