The physical and electrochemical properties of boron-doped polycrystalline diamond electrodes, prepared with various B/C ratio, i.e., 0.1%, 0.5% (BDD-A), 1% (BDD-B), and 5% (BDD-C), were investigated. Electrochemical measurements of the heavily boron-doped films (BDD-C) showed giant electric double-layer capacitance and activity which is significantly larger than BDD-A and BDD-B as well as glassy carbon electrodes. However, interestingly, actual boron concentration of BDD-C was observed to be almost the same as that of BDD-B by secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) and glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GDOES) analysis. It is suggested that the large capacitance is due to a few sp2-bonded carbon impurities, which was observed only in BDD-C, although the amount of the sp2-bonded nondiamond species are very small. In the present work, the reason for the interesting electrochemical properties of heavily boron-doped diamond electrodes is discussed. Furthermore, dimensional stability of the electrodes was also confirmed by conducting harsh anodic treatment.  相似文献

A prism-pair interferometer comprising two homodyne interferometers with a common light source was developed for high-precision measurements of the refractive index of optical glasses with an uncertainty of the order of 10(-6). The two interferometers measure changes in the optical path length in the glass sample and in air, respectively. Uncertainties in the absolute wavelength of the common light source are cancelled out by calculating a ratio between the results from the interferometers. Uncertainties in phase measurement are suppressed by a quadrature detection system. The combined standard uncertainty of the developed system is evaluated as 1.1×10(-6).  相似文献

This paper presents the design and implementation techniques employed in a Japanese-to-Sinhalese machine translation system. The main result of this work is the successful application of Bunsetsu in generating meaningful translations for a flexible-grammar language. The system has been developed considering the similarities between Japanese Bunsetsu and Sinhalese units. Such efforts are being focused on determining the minimum reasonable grammatical knowledge necessary for machine translation. The principal characteristics of the system, the translation process, problems encountered during the development stages, present status, and future plans will be discussed.  相似文献

This paper proposes a method to recognize digits in a natural scene, such as telephone numbers on a signboard. Candidate regions of digits are extracted from an image through contrast enhancement, edge extraction, and labeling. Since the target text patterns are in a 3D space, unlike traditional character recognition problems, we have to deal with the image transformation effect due to the orientation in the 3D space and projection. We have to cancel the effect as much as possible before digit recognition. In our method, the image transformation effect is modeled as skew and slant. In the proposed method, simplified Hough transform is used for the skew normalization. After the skew normalization, the remaining effect of image transformation is corrected by circumscribing digit patterns with tilted rectangles and affine transformation. In experiments, we tested a total of 1,332 images of signboards with 11,939 digits. We obtained a digit extraction rate of 99.2% and a correct digit recognition rate of 98.8%.Received: 15 December 2003, Accepted: 21 October 2004, Published online: 2 February 2005  相似文献

A direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is highly anticipated as a new, high‐density energy source for mobile usage; however, its poor power density presents a problem. As a result, the size of portable electronic equipment using DMFCs is far larger than that of equipment using another type of battery. In addition, steady power supply control is difficult, because the output power of the DMFC is affected by the environment. First, this paper presents a pulse charge control system that is a new control system applied to a mobile device, which uses the DMFC and an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC), then describes the new passive heat control and presents experimental results. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Negatively charged gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and a polyelectrolyte (PE) have been assembled alternately on a polystyrene (PS) colloid by a layer‐by‐layer (LBL) self‐assembly technique to form three‐dimensional (Au/PAH)4/(PSS/PAH)4 multilayer‐coated PS spheres (Au/PE/PS multilayer spheres). The Au/PE/PS multilayer spheres have been used to modify a boron‐doped diamond (BDD) electrode. Cyclic voltammetry is utilized to investigate the properties of the modified electrode in a 1.0 M KCl solution that contains 5.0 × 10?3 M K3Fe(CN)6, and the result shows a dramatically decreased redox activity compared with the bare BDD electrode. The electrochemical behaviors of dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) on the bare and modified BDD electrode are studied. The cyclic voltammetric studies indicate that the negatively charged, three‐dimensional Au/PE/PS multilayer sphere‐modified electrodes show high electrocatalytic activity and promote the oxidation of DA, whereas they inhibit the electrochemical reaction of AA, and can effectively be used to determine DA in the presence of AA with good selectivity. The detection limit of DA is 0.8 × 10?6 M in a linear range from 5 × 10?6 to 100 × 10?6 M in the presence of 1 × 10?3 M AA.  相似文献

Heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) family members are known as facilitators of immune responses by interacting with receptors on antigen-presenting cells leading to Hsp70-peptide uptake and antigen cross priming. Here, identification of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A24-restricted epitopes was achieved using peptide arrays for evaluation of their affinities to Hsp70 and HLA-A24 binding prediction tools. Using Hsp70 as the model antigen, the GYPVTNAVI and VFQHGKVEI peptides were identified as antigens. These peptides actually bound to HLA-A24 in the stabilization assay using T2-A*2402 cells, and induced a strong peptide-reactive cytotoxic T lymphocyte response in HLA-A24 transgenic mice after vaccination.  相似文献

A new maximum‐power‐point limiting (MPPL) control method for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) was proposed. In regard to achieving MPPL, it was affirmed by experiment that it is possible to control the DMFC by simply ensuring that its voltage does not fall below a certain level regardless of its state. An MPPL control system that accomplishes the DMFC voltage limitation required for MPPL control by using a ‘soft‐start function’ fitted in a ready‐made DC/DC converter was developed. It was confirmed by experimental tests that the circuit board of the developed MPPL control system can perform DMFC voltage limitation control. © 2011 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
