We investigated the prevalence of Salmonella in chicken meat from northern, central, and southern Japan. Between 2006 and 2008, 821 samples from these three regions were collected and examined. Salmonella isolates were detected in 164 (20.0%) of these samples, with 15 (10.0%) of 150, 113 (27.5%) of 411, and 36 (13.8%) of 260 recovered from the northern, central, and southern regions, respectively. We recovered 452 Salmonella isolates. From the isolates, 27 serovars were identified; the predominant serovars isolated were Salmonella Infantis (n=81), Salmonella Kalamu (n=56), and Salmonella Schwarzengrund (n=43). Of the 452 isolates, 443 (98.0%) were resistant to one or more antibiotics, and 221 (48.9%) showed multiple-antibiotic resistance, thereby implying that multiple-antibiotic resistant Salmonella organisms are widespread in chicken meat in Japan. Resistance to oxytetracycline was most common (72.6%), followed by dihydrostreptomycin (69.2%) and bicozamycin (49.1%). This study, the first to report Salmonella prevalence in chicken meat throughout Japan, could provide valuable data for monitoring and controlling Salmonella infection in the future. 相似文献

Structural basis for binding of the plasmid ColIb-P9 antisense Inc RNA to its target RNA with the 5'-rUUGGCG-3' motif in the loop sequence 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The sequence 5'-rUUGGCG-3' is conserved within the loop regions of antisense RNAs or their targets involved in replication of various prokaryotic plasmids. In IncIalpha plasmid ColIb-P9, the partially base paired 21-nucleotide loop of a stem-loop called structure I within RepZ mRNA contains this hexanucleotide sequence, and comprises the target site for the antisense Inc RNA. In this report, we find that the base pairing interaction at the 5'-rGGC-3' sequence in the hexanucleotide motif is important for interaction between Inc RNA and structure I. In addition, the 21-base loop domain of structure I is folded tighter than predicted, with the hexanucleotide sequence at the top. The second U residue in the sequence is favored for Inc RNA binding in a base-specific manner. On the other hand, the upper domain of the Inc RNA stem-loop is loosely structured, and maintaining the loop sequence single-stranded is important for the intermolecular interaction. Based on these results, we propose that a structural feature in the loop I domain, conferred probably by the conserved 5'-rUUGGCG-3' sequence, favors binding to a complementary, single-stranded RNA. This model also explains how the RepZ mRNA pseudoknot, described in the accompanying paper (Asano, K., and Mizobuchi, K. (1998) J. Biol. The mouse has traditionally been used for the micronucleus test, with bone marrow the usual target organ. The aim of the 9th collaborative study by CSGMT was to evaluate the suitability of the rat for the micronucleus test, with bone marrow and peripheral blood as the target organ. Since the rat spleen eliminates circulating micronucleated erythrocytes, a rat peripheral blood micronucleus assay might not be feasible. Thirty-four Japanese laboratories and six overseas laboratories participated in this collaboration, and 40 chemicals were studied. As a rule, rat bone marrow and peripheral blood were analyzed using acridine orange staining. Among 36 mouse micronucleus-positive rat carcinogens, 34 of which had been evaluated by CSGMT, we observed 33 positive and three negative results with rat bone marrow and 30 positive, three equivocal, and three negative responses with rat peripheral blood. Of the two mouse micronucleus-negative rat carcinogens, acrylonitrile was positive in rat bone marrow and 4,4'-methylene bis(2-chloroaniline) was negative in both rat bone marrow and peripheral blood. Two chemicals reported to be mouse micronucleus-negative and rat-positive, azobenzene and Solvent Yellow 14, and one chemical reported to be mouse-positive and rat-negative, 1,2-dimethylhydrazine, gave positive responses in rat bone marrow and peripheral blood. The concordance between bone marrow and peripheral blood with rats was 92%. The concordance between rat and mouse erythrocytes was 88%. We concluded that the rat micronucleus assay, using either bone marrow or peripheral blood, can be used as an alternative to the mouse micronucleus assay. 相似文献

A network-theoretic approach to the design of a dynamic precompensator C (s ) for a multiinput, multioutput plant T (s ) is considered. The design is based on the relative degree of each element of T (s ). Specifically, an efficient algorithm is presented for determining whether a given plant T (s ) has a diagonal precompensator C ( s ) such that, for almost all cases, T (s )C (s ) has a diagonal interactor. The algorithm also finds any optimal precompensator, in the sense that the total relative degree is minimal. Recently a number of investigations have focused on the self‐organization process from the nonequilibrium state as a new technique that may be used to develop many functional materials. In many cases, amorphous polymers were used and semicrystalline polymers were seldom used in spite of their importance. In this study, we basically investigated the crystal structure, crystalline process, and inner structures of polyamide by using slow phase separation and crystallization process from the nonequilibrium state of the polymer solution. We were able to observe the crystalline lamella growing twisted from the center of the particle. Between these lamella layers, narrow pores were created. From this investigation, we developed a new method to create functional materials of polyamide, the semicrystalline polymer. Transmission lines passing through a mountainous region often are struck by winter lightning. As a result, numerous double-circuit faults occur. Space charge might be responsible for this phenomena. Several investigations on flashover characteristics have been performed focusing on reduction of flashover voltage due to ionic space charge formed by corona discharge. In this paper, flashover characteristics of an air gap within a charged droplet cloud ejected from an airless nozzle using an induction charging method are discussed. The droplets are charged in the range -200 to 200 μC/kg, forming the space-charge density of approximately 13 μC/m3. The flashover voltage and the time lag to flashover were measured when 1.2 × 50 μs lightning impulse voltage applied to a rod-sphere gap is placed within the charged cloud. Flashover voltage for a positive rod increased markedly within a positive charged cloud by increasing the charge-to-mass ratio. The increase of flashover voltage was up to 80 percent in comparison with uncharged droplets. Flashover voltage for the negative rod decreased about 20 percent in the cloud of either polarity. The results show that the presence of charged droplets in the air gaps affects the discharge process significantly. 相似文献
