Fiber-bundle push-out, single-fiber push-in, and single-fiber push-out tests were conducted in order to examine the applicability of these methods for determining the interfacial shear strength of carbon-carbon composites. The fiber-bundle push-out test resulted mostly in fractures along the fiber/matrix interface but created a small amount of fractures in the matrix. Hence, the evaluated strength was regarded as an approximate value. In order to precisely evaluate the interfacial strength, push-in and push-out tests for a single fiber were performed using a micro-Vickers indentation tester. In these tests, the load has to be placed within a target fiber, and the indentation should not extend to the matrix. This condition restricted the load that could be applied to a carbon fiber. Within this limit, a single carbon fiber could not be pushed-in. For the sake of load reduction, single-fiber push-out tests were conducted using thin specimens. The thickness appropriate for a single-fiber push-out specimen was estimated based on the interfacial shear strength obtained by the bundle push-out tests. Surface oxidation using ozone gas, produced by an electrolytic ozone generator, was applied for preparation of a gas-diffusion electrode (GDE) for an electrochemical energy conversion system. An uncatalyzed carbon sheet containing poly(tetrafluoroethylene) binder was first placed into contact with ozone gas to form active functional groups on the surface of the carbon; then ion-exchange between a weakly bound hydrogen of the functional groups and a platinum cation complex was performed. A GDE having highly dispersed particles of a platinum metal deposited on a porous carbon sheet ws developed by this method. The fuel cell using this GDE showed high performance. 相似文献

Two distinctive carbon materials (Saran char and SP-1 graphite) were doped with B at different loading to clarify the intrinsic effect of substitutional B on carbon reactivity. The carbon precursors would be affected in different style by substitutional B due to different important properties (crystallinity and surface area). The B retentivity depended on the nature of B dopant and carbon substrate; a less ordered carbon has higher B loading than its counterpart. Graphitization was enhanced by substitutional B, as expected. Furthermore, the B incorporation was still beneficial for SP-1 although it already had high crystallinity. An interesting behavior was noticed; the increase in La was greater than Lc. The intrinsic effect of substitutional B in carbon oxidation was proved to be a catalytic one. Unlike highly ordered SP-1 graphite, Saran char showed both a catalytic effect at low B loading and low conversion, and an inhibiting effect at high B loading and high conversion. The inductive effect was proposed to explain this catalytic effect on different crystallite size. Different sizes of carbon clusters were calculated by Gaussian 98W; the extent of the effect of substitutional B did get smaller to the carbon in bigger size of carbon cluster. 相似文献

Uniformly porous composites with 3-D network structure (UPC-3D) have been recently developed via a pyrolytic reactive sintering process, which takes advantage of the evolved CO2 gas from a decomposing carbonate source (e.g., dolomite, CaMg(CO3 )2 ) and does not require any additional pore-forming agent nor long-time burning-out process. Through liquid formation via LiF doping, strong necks are formed between constituent particles before completion of the pyrolysis of carbonate, resulting in the formation of a strong 3-D network structure. The pore size distribution is very narrow (with typical pore size: ∼1 μm), and the porosity was controllable (∼30–60%) by changing the sintering temperature. This article presents the development details of UPC-3D, and reports the recent findings in CaZrO3 /MgAl2 O4 system, which will be one of the more promising systems for practical applications. 相似文献

The sintering behavior and surface microstructure of PbNi1/3 Nb2/3 O3 –PbTiO3 –PbZrO3 (PNiNb-PT-PZ) ceramics were investigated. The PNiNb-PT-PZ ceramics with the stoichiometric composition and the addition of excess lead oxide (PbO-rich ceramics) were sintered by liquid-phase sintering in accordance with the solution-reprecipitation mechanism at temperatures below the melting point of PbO. The temperature at which the liquid phase forms fell to near the eutectic point of the PbO–Nb2 O5 and the PbO–TiO2 system (868°C) with the addition of 5 mol% PbO. As the calcination temperature influenced the sinterability of the stoichiometric PNiNb-PT-PZ ceramic, unreacted PbO was considered to be the source of the liquid phase in the sintering of the stoichiometric powder. The secondary phase was observed at the surface of PbO-rich ceramics and was suggested to be a liquid phase expelled from inside the ceramic. A sintering scheme of PNiNb-PT-PZ ceramics was proposed, and the high sinterability of PNiNb-PT-PZ ceramics was attributed to the low formation temperature of the liquid phase. 相似文献

The adaptive immune system, including type1 helper T cells (Th1 cells), cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), and dendritic cells (DCs), plays an important role in the control of hepatitis B virus (HBV). On the other hand, regulatory T cells (Tregs) and myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) suppress the immune reaction in HBV and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Excessive activation of immune suppressive cells could contribute to the persistent infection of HBV and the progression of HCC. The frequency and/or function of Tregs could affect the natural course in chronic hepatitis B patients and the treatment response. In addition to the suppressive function of MDSCs, MDSCs could affect the induction and function of Tregs. Therefore, we should understand in detail the mechanism by which Tregs and MDSCs are induced to control HBV persistent infection and HBV-related HCC. Immune suppressive cells, including Tregs and MDSCs, contribute to the difficulty in inducing an effective immune response for HBV persistent infection and HBV-related HCC. In this review, we focus on the Tregs and MDSCs that could be potential targets for immune therapy of chronic hepatitis B and HBV-related HCC. 相似文献

A novel vitamin E derivative, (6″-hydroxy-2″,5″,7″,8″-tetramethylchroman-2″-yl) methyl 3-(2′,4′-dihydroxyphenyl)propionate
(TM4R), which has a chromanoxyl ring and 4-substituted resorcinol moieties, was synthesized; and its inhibitory effects on
tyrosinase, antioxidant ability, and lightening effect of ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced hyperpigmentation were estimated. TM4R
showed potent inhibitory activity on tyrosinase, which is the rate-limiting enzyme in melanogenesis. The scavenging activities
of TM4R on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radicals were found to be nearly the same as those of α-tocopherol.
Furthermore, an efficient lightening effect was observed following topical application of TM4R to UVB-stimulated hyperpigmented
dorsal skin of brownish guinea pigs. These results suggest that TM4R may be a candidate for an efficient whitening agent,
possibly by inhibiting tyrosinase activity and biological reactions caused by reactive oxygen species. 相似文献

Metal surfaces can be improved in terms of thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties by a ceramic coating. The chromium-free corrosion resistance of stainless steel was achieved using a chemical solution method. Precursor solutions were prepared from metal alkoxides and were deposited on stainless-steel surfaces by dip coating and heat-treating at temperatures <500°C. The stainless steel was coated by silica, zirconia, and titania single-layer coating films, and/or coated by silica/zirconia and silica/titania double-layer coating films. High‐performance regenerated cellulose fibers were prepared from cellulose/1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride (BMIMCl) solutions via dry‐jet wet spinning. The spinnability of the solution was initially evaluated using the maximum winding speed of the solution spinning line under various ambient temperatures and relative humidities in the air gap. The subsequent spinning trials were conducted under various air gap conditions in a water coagulation bath. It was found that low temperature and low relative humidity in the air gap were important to obtain fibers with high tensile strength at a high draw ratio. From a 10 wt % cellulose/BMIMCl solution, regenerated fibers with tensile strength up to 886 MPa were prepared below 22 °C and relative humidity of 50%. High strengthening was also strongly linked with the fixation effect on fibers during washing and drying processes. Furthermore, an effective attempt to prepare higher performance fibers was conducted from a higher polymer concentration solution using a high molecular weight dissolving pulp. Eventually, fibers with a tensile strength of ~1 GPa and Young's modulus over 35 GPa were prepared. Thermal analysis has been utilized in polymer research for a long time and its usefulness is widely recognized. High‐performance commercial instruments have driven significant progress in the thermal studies of polymers. On the other hand, new experimental instruments have been developed in laboratories as well. In this paper attention is paid to the latter category. The laboratory‐made instrument focused on the target material and/or phenomena provides data that are not available from other techniques. Experiments using the temperature modulation technique, which has been successfully utilized in laboratory‐made instruments, are introduced in this paper.
