Poly(N‐vinyl‐γ‐sodium aminobutyrate‐co‐sodium acrylate) (VSA–SA)/polysulfone (PS) composite membranes were prepared for the separation of CO2. VSA–SA contained secondary amines and carboxylate ions that could act as carriers for CO2. At 20°C and 1.06 atm of feed pressure, a VSA–SA/PS composite membrane displayed a pure CO2 permeation rate of 6.12 × 10?6 cm3(STP)/cm2 s cmHg and a CO2/CH4 ideal selectivity of 524.5. In experiments with a mixed gas of 50 vol % CO2 and 50 vol % CH4, at 20°C and 1.04 atm of feed pressure, the CO2 permeation rate was 9.2 × 10?6 cm3 (STP)/cm2 s cmHg, and the selectivity of CO2/CH4 was 46.8. Crosslinkages with metal ions were effective for increasing the selectivity. Both the selectivity of CO2 over CH4 and the CO2 permeation rate had a maximum against the carrier concentration. The high CO2 permeation rate originated from the facilitated transport mechanism, which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared with attenuated total reflectance techniques. Scanning probe microscopy (SPM) is in a period of rapid development. It shows great promise for characterizing coating surfaces. This paper describes modification of an SPM so that it can be used to mar the surfaces of coatings under controlled conditions and to characterize the mars. Mar resistance of coatings is analyzed in terms of a ‘three response, two mechanism model.' The three responses (fracture, elastic, and plastic) can be measured quantitatively using the SPM. Of the three responses, only two (fracture and plastic deformation) are marring mechanisms – elastic deformations recover instantaneously. In some cases mars resulting from plastic deformation may recover slowly with time or with immersion in water; this phenomenon is attributed to viscoelastic creep. Microhardness is also measured with the modified SPM. Some thermoset coatings appear to be substantially harder near their surfaces than in the mass of material, and such materials may respond quite differently to stress applied at different levels near the surface. This finding has important implications for all coating properties that are strongly influenced by the surface. A quantity called ‘micro mar resistance' is defined. It may be useful for comparing different coatings under specified conditions of marring. However, there can be no single quantity that expresses ‘mar resistance' of a coating under all conditions.  相似文献

A series of polyimide–silica hybrid films with silica contents up to 30 wt % were successfully prepared by the sol‐gel reaction of tetraethoxysiliane in the presence of poly(amic acid) containing pendent hydroxyl groups. The films were yellow and transparent when the silica content was less than 11 wt %. The chemical structure of the films was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and the morphology of the films was investigated by scanning electronic microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and stress–strain tests were used to measure the performance of the films. The results indicate that the glass‐transition temperatures and decomposition temperatures of the hybrid films increased with increasing silica content, whereas the tensile strength had a maximum with the variety of silica contents. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) glucosides (PEGG) and the PEGG esters of lauric acid were analyzed by atmospheric-pressure ionization MS (API-MS) with electrospray ionization. Straightforward mass characterization of the complex mixtures could be achieved without prior chromatographic separation. The constituents were identified on the basis of quasi-molecular ions. Individual components could be observed as protonated molecular ions [M+H]+ and/or as their NH4 +, Na+, or K+ adducts in positive ion mode. The mass spectrometric investigation showed that mixtures of PEGG consisted of monoglucoside, diglucoside, polyglucoside, and free PEG. The esterification product is a mixture of two types of nonionic surfactants: PEG-laurates and PEGG-laurates. The reasons for distortion of the quasi-molecular ion intensities and the stabilization of adduct ions were discussed. The rapid and highly sensitive API-MS analysis technique proposed here is well suited for direct characterization of complex mixtures and suitable for development as a routine analytical method.  相似文献
