Olivine lithium manganese phosphate (LiMnPO4) becomes research focus because of its high energy density and improved thermal stability. However, its application in lithium ion batteries suffers severely from poor electrochemical activity due to low conductivity and structural instability upon the charge and discharge process. By applying a high-energy ball-milling method we succeed in improving the capacity delivery and rate capability. LiMnPO4 materials ball-milled without or with acetylene black are able to deliver a high capacity of 135 and 127 mAh g−1, respectively, more than 50% greater than the pristine one. Particularly, the latter also shows an improved discharge plateau and stable cyclability. High-energy synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, laser particle analysis, and galvanostatic charge and discharge are employed to understand the effect of ball-milling on the LiMnPO4 material.  相似文献

The early detection of diabetic nephropathy (DN) in mice is necessary for the development of drugs and functional foods. The purpose of this study was to identify genes that are significantly upregulated in the early stage of DN progression and develop a novel model to non-invasively monitor disease progression within living animals using in vivo imaging technology. Streptozotocin (STZ) treatment has been widely used as a DN model; however, it also exhibits direct cytotoxicity to the kidneys. As it is important to distinguish between DN-related and STZ-induced nephropathy, in this study, we compared renal responses induced by the diabetic milieu with two types of STZ models: multiple low-dose STZ injections with a high-fat diet and two moderate-dose STZ injections to induce DN. We found 221 genes whose expression was significantly altered during DN development in both models and identified serum amyloid A3 (Saa3) as a candidate gene. Next, we applied the Saa3 promoter-driven luciferase reporter (Saa3-promoter luc mice) to these two STZ models and performed in vivo bioluminescent imaging to monitor the progression of renal pathology. In this study, to further exclude the possibility that the in vivo bioluminescence signal is related to renal cytotoxicity by STZ treatment, we injected insulin into Saa3-promoter luc mice and showed that insulin treatment could downregulate renal inflammatory responses with a decreased signal intensity of in vivo bioluminescence imaging. These results strongly suggest that Saa3 promoter activity is a potent non-invasive indicator that can be used to monitor DN progression and explore therapeutic agents and functional foods.  相似文献

We describe an interferometer system that uses two separate wavelengths to measure step height. The overlapping interference images detected by a CCD camera are easily separated by an ordinary integrating-bucket method and time-sharing sinusoidal phase modulation, in which two laser diodes are alternately modulated with a sinusoidal signal. A phase map is obtained only for the laser diode into which the modulation signal is injected. In this instance, a 1-microm step height was accurately detected.  相似文献

The eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) synthesis gene cluster from an EPA-producing bacterium, Shewanella sp. SCRC-2738, was cloned into a broad-host range vector, pJRD215, and then introduced into a marine cyanobacterium, Synechococcus sp. NKBG15041c, by conjugation. The transconjugant cyanobacteria produced 3.7±0.2% (2.24±0.13 mg/L) EPA (n-3) and 2.5 ±0.2% (1.49±0.06 mg/L) eicosatetraenoic acid (n-3) of the total fatty acids when the cells were cultured at 23°C at a light intensity of 1,000–1,500 Lux. The EPA and eico-satetraenoic acid contents of the cells were increased to 4.6±0.6% (3.86±1.11 mg/L) and 4.7±0.3% (3.86±0.82 mg/L), and 7.5±0.3% (1.76±0.10 mg/L) and 5.1±0.2% (1.19±0.06 mg/L) when they were cultured at low temperature (18°C) and at lower light intensity (40 Lux), respectively.  相似文献

We isolated glucosides from the royal fern,Osmunda japonica, which elicit a deterrent response in larvae ofBombyx mori. These compounds were absent in taro (Colocasia antiquorum) and castor-oil plant (Ricinus communis) leaves and did not evoke responses of sensory cells in the lateral and medial sensilla styloconica ofSpodoptera litura. This glucoside extract of the royal fern leaves stimulates receptors generally associated with deterrent. It is also possible that this compound may act as a behavioral deterrent, and from actual feeding tests, it is suggested that this compound may prevent feeding in some monophagous insects, such asBombyx mori. Distributed intrusion detection systems have several advantages over centralized systems, such as scalability, adaptability, and fault tolerance. A current research topic in distributed systems is self-monitoring to identify corrupted intrusion detection systems. One way of self-monitoring is for intrusion detection systems to check each other. As we describe herein, this can be done by mobile agents using an immunity-based diagnostic method modeled on idiotypic network theory. In simulations, the credibility of normal intrusion detection systems remained near 1, while it fell to about 0 for corrupted intrusion detection systems, thus enabling identification of the latter. The direction-of-arrival estimation of near-field sources can be formulated as a multidimensional nonlinear optimization problem, where a performance index is minimized with respect to azimuth, range, and source power. For the single source case, under the assumption that the range is relatively larger than the interelement distance, we use the second-order approximation to derive a simpler performance index parameterized by azimuth only. The minimization of the new index is easier than that of the original one parameterized by azimuth, range, and source power. Moreover, the proposed method considers the degradation of signal powers, giving more accurate estimation results. Also for the multiple source case, an efficient computation method is developed by using the second-order approximation.  相似文献

A mixed ionic and electronic conducting hydrogen separation membrane, which consisted of proton-conductive oxide and metallic palladium, was fabricated. A porous alumina tube was employed as a support, and proton-conductive oxide particles were introduced into a microporous top layer of the support by an impregnation method. Palladium particles were deposited into the same porous layer by chemical vapor deposition. Hydrogen permeated preferentially via the membrane thus obtained with a hydrogen permeance (PH2) of 1.2 × 10− 9 mol·m− 2·s− 1·Pa− 1 at 873 K. Selectivity for hydrogen (PH2/PN2) increased with the operating temperature due to an increase in proton conductivity of the membrane, and PH2/PN2 = 5.7 was attained at 873 K.  相似文献
