We report a facile one-pot synthesis of well-dispersed Pd nanoparticles on a carbon nanofiber (CNF) support, achieved via the unique sequential processes of supramolecular self-assembly and fast reduction of the Pd source. Pd ions attached to the sulfate ends of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) molecules self-assembled on a CNF, and subsequent fast reduction suppressed particle coarsening, in contrast to the slow reduction processes in previous works. The particle size and dispersion uniformity were comparable to those of particles synthesized by combined SDS/high-energy irradiation. The Pd nanoparticles prepared using the present one-pot approach were superior or comparable to those obtained using non-one-pot approaches in previous works in terms of electrocatalytic activity and long-term stability in the electrooxidation of liquid fuels at the anodes of direct formic acid, direct methanol, and direct ethanol fuel cells.  相似文献

The application of nanoparticles for drug or gene delivery promises benefits in the form of single-cell-specific therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities. Many methods of cell transfection rely on unspecific means to increase the transport of genetic material into cells. Targeted transport is in principle possible with magnetically propelled micromotors, which allow responsive nanoscale actuation and delivery. However, many commonly used magnetic materials (e.g., Ni and Co) are not biocompatible, possess weak magnetic remanence (Fe3O4), or cannot be implemented in nanofabrication schemes (NdFeB). Here, it is demonstrated that co-depositing iron (Fe) and platinum (Pt) followed by one single annealing step, without the need for solution processing, yields ferromagnetic FePt nanomotors that are noncytotoxic, biocompatible, and possess a remanence and magnetization that rival those of permanent NdFeB micromagnets. Active cell targeting and magnetic transfection of lung carcinoma cells are demonstrated using gradient-free rotating millitesla fields to drive the FePt nanopropellers. The carcinoma cells express enhanced green fluorescent protein after internalization and cell viability is unaffected by the presence of the FePt nanopropellers. The results establish FePt, prepared in the L10 phase, as a promising magnetic material for biomedical applications with superior magnetic performance, especially for micro- and nanodevices.  相似文献

Viral infectious diseases are a significant burden on public health and the global economy, and new viral threats emerge continuously. Since CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses are essential to eliminating viruses, it is important to understand the underlying mechanisms of anti-viral T cell-mediated immunopathogenesis during viral infections. Remarkable progress in transgenic (Tg) techniques has enabled scientists to more readily understand the mechanisms of viral pathogenesis. T cell receptor (TCR) Tg mice are extremely useful in studying T cell-mediated immune responses because the majority of T cells in these mice express specific TCRs for partner antigens. In this review, we discuss the important studies utilizing TCR Tg mice to unveil underlying mechanisms of T cell-mediated immunopathogenesis during viral infections.  相似文献
