Dynamic viscoelastic properties of blends of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(styrene‐co‐acrylonitrile) (SAN) with various AN contents were measured to evaluate the influence of SAN composition, consequently χ parameter, upon the melt rheology. PMMA/SAN blends were miscible and exhibited a terminal flow region characterized by Newtonian flow, when the acrylonitrile (AN) content of SAN ranges from 10 to 27 wt %. Whereas, PMMA/SAN blends were immiscible and exhibited a long time relaxation, when the AN content in SAN is less than several wt % or greater than 30 wt %. Correspondingly, melt rheology of the blends was characterized by the plots of storage modulus G′ against loss modulus G″. Log G′ versus log G″ plots exhibited a straight line of slope 2 for the miscible blends, but did not show a straight line for the immiscible blends because of their long time relaxation mechanism. The plateau modulus, determined as the storage modulus G′ in the plateau zone at the frequency where tan δ is at maximum, varied linearly with the AN content of SAN irrespective of blend miscibility. This result indicates that the additivity rule holds well for the entanglement molecular weights in miscible PMMA/SAN blends. However, the entanglement molecular weights in immiscible blends should have “apparent” values, because the above method to determine the plateau modulus is not applicable for the immiscible blends. Biodiesel derived from vegetable oils has drawn considerable attention with increasing environmental consciousness. We attempted
continuous methanolysis of vegetable oil by an enzymatic process. Immobilized Candida antarctica lipase was found to be the most effective for the methanolysis among lipases tested. The enzyme was inactivated by shaking
in a mixture containing more than 1.5 molar equivalents of methanol against the oil. To fully convert the oil to its corresponding
methyl esters, at least 3 molar equivalents of methanol are needed. Thus, the reaction was conducted by adding methanol stepwise
to avoid lipase inactivation. The first step of the reaction was conducted at 30°C for 10 h in a mixture of oil/methanol (1:1,
mol/mol) and 4% immobilized lipase with shaking at 130 oscillations/min. After more than 95% methanol was consumed in ester
formation, a second molar equivalent of methanol was added and the reaction continued for 14 h. The third molar equivalent
of methanol was finally added and the reaction continued for 24 h (total reaction time, 48 h). This three-step process converted
98.4% of the oil to its corresponding methyl esters. To investigate the stability of the lipase, the three-step methanolysis
process was repeated by transferring the immobilized lipase to a fresh substrate mixture. As a result, more than 95% of the

Previous research has demonstrated deposition of MCrAlY coating via the cold spray process; however, the deposition mechanism of cold spraying has not been clearly explained—only empirically described by impact velocity. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the critical deposit condition. Microscale experimental measurements of individual particle deposit dimensions were incorporated with numerical simulation to investigate particle deformation behavior. Dimensional parameters were determined from scanning electron microscopy analysis of focused ion beam-fabricated cross sections of deposited particles to describe the deposition threshold. From Johnson-Cook finite element method simulation results, there is a direct correlation between the dimensional parameters and the impact velocity. Therefore, the critical velocity can describe the deposition threshold. Moreover, the maximum equivalent plastic strain is also strongly dependent on the impact velocity. Thus, the threshold condition required for particle deposition can instead be represented by the equivalent plastic strain of the particle and substrate. For particle-substrate combinations of similar materials, the substrate is more difficult to deform. Thus, this study establishes that the dominant factor of particle deposition in the cold spray process is the maximum equivalent plastic strain of the substrate, which occurs during impact and deformation. 相似文献

This study investigated the electrode life and the electrode degradation mechanism during alternate resistance spot welding of galvannealed steel sheets and bare steel sheets. As a result, it was found that the electrode life in this type of welding was extremely short in comparison to welding of only galvannealed steel sheets. The reason for this short life is explained by the sticking of the alloy layers formed on the electrode top to the bare steel sheet surface, so that the narrower and sharper shape the original electrode top is the better to prolong the life. Although the ring-shaped nuggets were not formed during alternate resistance DC welding, the electrode degradation mechanism is similar to that during the resistance DC welding of only galvannealed steel sheets. 相似文献

Heat shock protein 47 (HSP47), a collagen-specific molecular chaperone, is causally related to fibrotic diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The identification of Compounds that interfere with the HSP47-collagen interaction is essential for the development of relevant therapeutics. Herein, we prepared human HSP47 as a soluble fusion protein expressed in E. coli and established an assay system for HSP47 inhibitor screening. We screened a natural and synthetic Compound library established at Nagasaki University. Among 1023 Compounds, 13 exhibited inhibitory activity against human HSP47, of which three inhibited its function in a dose-dependent manner. Epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate, one of these three Compounds, is a typical polyphenol Compound derived from tea leaves. Structurally related Compounds were synthesized and examined for their activity, revealing a hydroxyl group at A-ring position 5 as important for its activity. The present findings provide valuable insight for the development of natural product-derived therapeutics for fibrotic diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. 相似文献

To quantitatively investigate the initial crystallization of zeolite beta synthesized by direct heating, the extent of the reaction was precisely evaluated by X-ray diffraction measurements and Rietveld structural refinement, and a kinetic analysis of crystallization was performed using the Avrami-Erofe'ev equation. The activation energy for crystallization was lower than that for hydrothermal synthesis. Reaction and synthesis time curves revealed that the initial zeolite beta crystallization consisted of three stages. The first was an induction period with nucleation by the generation of building units and the formation of an initial coordinated structure. The second stage was crystal growth by a diffusion-controlled reaction, and the third stage involved slowing down of crystallization by the limitation of dehydrocondensation. Amyloid fibrils are supramolecular protein assemblies represented by a cross-β structure and fibrous morphology, whose structural architecture has been previously investigated. While amyloid fibrils are basically a main-chain-dominated structure consisting of a backbone of hydrogen bonds, side-chain interactions also play an important role in determining their detailed structures and physicochemical properties. In amyloid fibrils comprising short peptide segments, a steric zipper where a pair of β-sheets with side chains interdigitate tightly is found as a fundamental motif. In amyloid fibrils comprising longer polypeptides, each polypeptide chain folds into a planar structure composed of several β-strands linked by turns or loops, and the steric zippers are formed locally to stabilize the structure. Multiple segments capable of forming steric zippers are contained within a single protein molecule in many cases, and polymorphism appears as a result of the diverse regions and counterparts of the steric zippers. Furthermore, the β-solenoid structure, where the polypeptide chain folds in a solenoid shape with side chains packed inside, is recognized as another important amyloid motif. While side-chain interactions are primarily achieved by non-polar residues in disease-related amyloid fibrils, the participation of hydrophilic and charged residues is prominent in functional amyloids, which often leads to spatiotemporally controlled fibrillation, high reversibility, and the formation of labile amyloids with kinked backbone topology. Achieving precise control of the side-chain interactions within amyloid structures will open up a new horizon for designing useful amyloid-based nanomaterials. 相似文献

Type IIa receptor tyrosine phosphatases (RPTPs) play pivotal roles in neuronal network formation. It is emerging that the interactions of RPTPs with glycans, i.e., chondroitin sulfate (CS) and heparan sulfate (HS), are critical for their functions. We highlight here the significance of these interactions in axon regeneration and synaptogenesis. For example, PTPσ, a member of type IIa RPTPs, on axon terminals is monomerized and activated by the extracellular CS deposited in neural injuries, dephosphorylates cortactin, disrupts autophagy flux, and consequently inhibits axon regeneration. In contrast, HS induces PTPσ oligomerization, suppresses PTPσ phosphatase activity, and promotes axon regeneration. PTPσ also serves as an organizer of excitatory synapses. PTPσ and neurexin bind one another on presynapses and further bind to postsynaptic leucine-rich repeat transmembrane protein 4 (LRRTM4). Neurexin is now known as a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG), and its HS is essential for the binding between these three molecules. Another HSPG, glypican 4, binds to presynaptic PTPσ and postsynaptic LRRTM4 in an HS-dependent manner. Type IIa RPTPs are also involved in the formation of excitatory and inhibitory synapses by heterophilic binding to a variety of postsynaptic partners.
