Through the examples of polycarbonate and poly(methyl acrylate), the evolution of the structure and properties of glassy polymers processed by equal‐channel multiple‐angular extrusion (ECMAE) were studied. It was demonstrated that ECMAE allowed the substantial improvement of the set of strain–strength characteristics of these materials, regardless of the direction of loading applied. With the use of the data from scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and dilatometry, we found that the simultaneous growth in the strength, plasticity, and impact resistance was related to the formation of a net of biaxially oriented polymeric chains, the decrease in the free volume, and the reinforcement of intermolecular interaction. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ochratoxins are a class of naturally occurring compounds produced by several fungi. The most toxic is ochratoxin A (OTA), and occurrence of some human nephropathies and tumors correlate with enhanced OTA exposure. In this Account, the following areas are examined: molecular details of the binding of OTA to human serum albumin (HSA), the influences of binding to HSA on the trans-port of OTA across epithelial cell membranes by organic anion transport proteins, the oxidative activation of OTA, and the formation of OTA adducts with biological molecules. These studies are beginning to provide a detailed chemical model for the trans-port, accumulation, and genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of OTA.  相似文献

We demonstrate that silver nanoisland film self-assembled on the surface of silver-containing glass in the course of thermal processing in hydrogen is capable to detect 10−7 M concentration of rhodamine 6G in water using surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) technique. The film can be multiply restored on the same glass substrate via annealing of the glass in hydrogen. We showed that the film can be self-assembled after as much as ten circles of the substrate cleaning followed by annealing. The proposed technique of the silver nanoisland film formation enables multiple usage of the same glass substrate in SERS experiments.  相似文献

The choice of thread-block size and shape is one of the most important user decisions when a parallel problem is written for any CUDA architecture. The reason is that thread-block geometry has a significant impact on the global performance of the program. Unfortunately, the programmer has not enough information about the subtle interactions between this choice of parameters and the underlying hardware. This paper presents uBench, a complete suite of micro-benchmarks, in order to explore the impact on performance of (1) the thread-block geometry choice criteria, and (2) the GPU hardware resources and configurations. Each micro-benchmark has been designed to be as simple as possible to focus on a single effect derived from the hardware and thread-block parameter choice. As an example of the capabilities of this benchmark suite, this paper shows an experimental evaluation and comparison of Fermi and Kepler architectures. Our study reveals that, in spite of the new hardware details introduced by Kepler, the principles underlying the block geometry selection criteria are similar for both architectures.  相似文献

In this paper the process of nonfunctionalized negatively charged orthovanadate nanoparticle accumulation and redistribution in cells dependent on their shape and size was investigated. Aqueous colloidal solutions of nReVO4:Eu3 + (Re = Gd, Y, La) luminescent nanocrystals of different sizes and shapes have been synthesized. The average sizes of spherical particles were 2, 20, and 300 nm, of spindle-like particles – 22 × 6.3 nm, and of rod-like particles – 57 × 4.4 nm. Luminescence of nReVO4:Eu3 + nanocrystals was effectively excited by UV and visible irradiation. By means of luminescence microscopy and luminescence microspectroscopy, it has been revealed that spherical nanocrystals with an average diameter of 2 nm tend to accumulate mainly in the rat hepatocyte nuclei in situ and also in the isolated nuclei of these cells. An additional experiment has shown that nanoparticles reveal tropism to nuclear structural components. The penetration into nuclei does not require any modifications of the surface of nanoparticle and is governed by the shape and size of nanoparticle and also is determined by the cellular type.  相似文献

Spectroscopy aims at extracting information about matter through its interaction with light. However, when performed on gas and liquid phases as well as solid phases lacking long-range order, the extracted spectroscopic features are in fact averaged over the molecular isotropic angular distributions. The reason is that light–matter processes depend on the angle between the transitional molecular dipole and the polarization of the light interacting with it. This understanding gave birth to the constantly expanding field of “laser-induced molecular alignment”. In this paper, we attempt to guide the readers through our involvement (both experimental and theoretical) in this field in the last few years. We start with the basic phenomenon of molecular alignment induced by a single pulse, continue with selective alignment of close molecular species and unidirectional molecular rotation induced by two time-delayed pulses, and lead up to novel schemes for manipulating the spatial distributions of molecular samples through rotationally controlled scattering off inhomogeneous fields and surfaces.  相似文献

The paper presents the research activity developed by the authors in the field of computer-aided inventive problem solving: an original model and a dialogue-based software application have been developed by integrating the logic of ARIZ (Algorithm for the Inventive Problem Solving) with some OTSM-TRIZ (General Theory of Powerful Thinking) models in order to guide a user also with no TRIZ education to the analysis of inventive problems. The paper demonstrates that through a dialogue-based interaction it is possible to guide the user towards a proper formulation of the problem statement, which is an essential step of any conceptual design activity. The proposed software system, although still at a prototype stage, has been tested with students at Politecnico di Milano and at the University of Florence. The paper details the structure of the algorithm and the results of the first validation activity; then, it discusses about the possibility to integrate the proposed approach into a new generation of CAD systems.  相似文献
