The purpose of the present research was to clarify the effect of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) intake on behavior and plasma catecholamines (CA). In Study 1, 42 students took either DHA-rich oil capsules containing 1.5–1.8 g DHA/d or control oil capsules containing 97% soybean oil plus 3% of another fish oil for 3 mon in a double-blind fashion. They took a psychological test (PF Study) at the start and end of the study. This study started at the end of summer vacation and ended just before the final exams. In the control group, external aggression (aggression against others) in PF Study was significantly increased at the end of the study as compared with that measured at the start (+8.9%), whereas it was not significantly changed in the DHA group (?1.0%). In a similar double-blind study (Study 2), we measured external aggression under nonstressful conditions. External aggression slightly decreased in the control group, whereas there were no significant changes in the DHA group. In Study 3 with 14 students, plasma CA were measured at the start and end of capsule administration period of 2 mon. Subjects were under continuous stress of the final exams that lasted throughout the whole study period. The ratio of plasma epinephrine to norepinephrine concentrations was significantly increased in the DHA group (78%), whereas it stayed at the same level in the control group. In Study 4, mice were fed either DHA-deficient diet or -sufficient diet for 4 wk, and their rearing frequency (an anxiety index) was measured. In the DHA-sufficient group, the rearing frequency was significantly less than in the other group. These effects of DHA intake may be applied to people in an attempt to ameliorate stress-related diseases.  相似文献

Bifunctional fibers containing phosphonate and sulfonate were derived from chloromethylstyrene grafted polyolefin fibers (PPPE-g-CMS) by phosphorylation and subsequent sulfonation reactions. It was clarified that phosphorylation of PPPE-g-CMS by Arbusov reaction is more suitable than one by the reaction with PCl3 in the presence of AlCl3, because the latter damaged fibers and gave phosphinate groups in addition to phosphonate ones. Then, bifunctional fibers containing phosphonate and sulfonate groups were prepared by sulfonation of monofunctional phosphonate fibers obtained via Arbusov reaction with chlorosulfonic acid. The metal ion selectivity of the bifunctional fibers was governed by both phosphonate and sulfonate groups. In addition, bifunctional fibers gave much more excellent kinetic performances in column-mode uptake of Cu(II) than the monofunctional phosphonate fibers and resin.  相似文献

A versatile solid‐phase approach based on peptide chemistry was used to construct four classes of structurally diverse polyamines with modified backbones: linear, partially constrained, branched, and cyclic. Their effects on DNA duplex stability and structure were examined. The polyamines showed distinct activities, thus highlighting the importance of polyamine backbone structure. Interestingly, the rank order of polyamine ability for DNA compaction was different to that for their effects on circular dichroism and melting temperature, thus indicating that these polyamines have distinct effects on secondary and higher‐order structures of DNA.  相似文献

The relationships between morphology and proton conduction for Nafion membranes and hydrocarbon-type proton exchange membranes, namely, sulfonated poly(arylene ether ether ketone) (S-PEEK) and sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) (S-PES), were investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The direct simultaneous observation of surface morphology and active regions of proton conduction on membranes by combined high-resolution AFM phase imaging and an electrochemical technique at controlled humidity provided significant morphological information, particularly for the hydrocarbon-type membranes that exhibit few or no features on SAXS profiles. For the Nafion membranes, the active proton paths became denser and congregated with each other at over 60% RH, resulting in the formation of well-connected networks. For the hydrocarbon-type membranes, however, only the relatively small and dispersed proton paths were observed, which showed no significant change even as water content increased. We have demonstrated that the differences in microscopic morphology between the Nafion and hydrocarbon-type membranes are associated with the differences between their macroscopic proton conductivities.  相似文献

Adduct formation of 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetonato(tta) lantha-num(III), europium(III), and ytterbium(I II) with α-pheny 1 1 actic, α-methoxy phenyl acetic, salicylic, and o-methoxy benzoic acids in chloroform has been studied by solvent extraction technique. It has been found that 1anthanoid(111) chelates form more stable adducts with these carboxylic acids in the sequence: Yb(tta)3 < Eu(tta) 3 < La(tta) 3. The adduct formation constants as well as the separation factors obtained as the ratio of the constants between a pair of metals are the largest for α-phenyl lactic acid among these acids. The characteristics with α-phenyl 1actic acid would be caused by the action as bidentate unlike benzoic acid derivatives which work as monodentates owing to the internal complexa-tion through hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

Lanthanide(lII) chelates with 1,1,1 -trif luoro-5,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexanedione form adducts with benzilic acid, an a-hydroxycar-boxylic acid, in chloroform. The order of. the adduct formation constants in magnitude is: Lam> Eum> Ybm although it is known that the stability constant of lanthanide(III) complexes with α-hydroxycarboxylic acids in aqueous solutions increases with increasing atomic number.  相似文献
