Titanium dioxide (TiO2 ) nanotube arrays were prepared by electrochemical anodization of titanium sheets in the glycerol 176 mL/H2 O 44 mL/NH4 F 0.5 wt% electrolytes modified with H2 SO4 and NaAc addition. The surface morphologies, average inner diameter, and the length of the nanotube arrays changed with the solution pH in the range from 5.6 to 4.0 by adding H2 SO4 . A uniform surface morphology of the nanotubes with average inner diameter of ∼80 nm and a length of ∼1000 nm was obtained when the solution pH was 5.0. The growth rates of the nanotubes were remarkably enhanced by NaAc addition in the range of 0.04–0.14 M . With NaAc addition of 0.10 M , the length of the nanotube arrays reached 4.16 μm after an 8-h anodization, increasing 3.23 μm compared with no NaAc addition. The relationship between solution pH and growth of TiO2 nanotubes was analyzed by current–time curves, solution electrical conductivities, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the role of NaAc was also discussed based on SEM and solution electrical conductivities. 相似文献

The sensory (odor and flavor) and physicochemical characteristics of tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) treated and butylated
hydroxyanisole/toluene (BHA/BHT) treated liquid canola shortenings, subjected to accelerated storage (Schaal oven test at
65°C) and deep fat heating (at 185°C), were determined. Data for the Schaal oven test indicate that TBHQ was effective in
retarding oxidative rancidity in liquid canola shortenings. However, addition of the commonly used mixture of BHA/BHT to canola
shortenings resulted in only a slight decrease in oxidation during schaal oven storage. The results obtained from deep fat
heating of canola liquid shortening show that neither TBHQ nor BHA/BHT was effective in enhancing oxidative and thermal stability

Two new poly(p‐phenylenevinylene) (PPV) derivatives containing oxadiazole moiety (OXA‐PPV1 and OXA‐PPV2) were synthesized by the Wittig condensation polymerization reaction. Their thermal and light‐emitting properties were investigated. The single‐ and triple‐layer electroluminescent (EL) devices with configurations of ITO/polymer/Al and ITO/polymer/OXD‐7/Alq3/Al were fabricated. They exhibited blue emission at 470 nm for OXA‐PPV1 and green emission at 560 nm for OXA‐PPV2. The turn‐on voltages of triple‐layer device were 11 V for OXA‐PPV1 and 8 V for OXA‐PPV2. The triple‐layer EL devices showed much better performance than did the single‐layer devices. This paper presents some further results on adaptive sliding mode control (ASMC) for a class of nonlinear systems with bounded uncertain parameters. Given a large initial tracking error, current ASMC design generally produces an unnecessarily large switching gain, consequently leading to a serious chattering problem or a large‐amplitude control jump for the continuous counterpart. To solve such an overadaptation problem, the switching gain adaptation mechanism is first analyzed in this paper, and the adaptation induced by the initial tracking error is suggested to be removed. Then, by exploiting the global sliding mode feature of time‐varying sliding mode control and integral sliding mode control, we present two effective methodologies for ASMC design. The proposed ASMC algorithms ensure that there is no overestimation of the switching gain and the system response is not slowed down when a small switching gain is generated. Good wetting of reinforced fiber by resin was a main factor in the improvement of the interface adhesion of their composites. Ultrasound with a frequency of 20 kHz was used to improve the wettability between aramid fibers and epoxy resin during the winding process of the composites. The effects of ultrasound on the viscosity and surface tension of epoxy resin and on the surface characteristics of aramid fibers were investigated. The wettability of aramid fibers and treated epoxy resin under different conditions and of aramid fibers and epoxy resin under ultrasonic online treatment were compared. The results indicated that the main action of ultrasound was to force epoxy resin to impregnate aramid fibers, in addition to the influence of ultrasound on the properties of epoxy resin and aramid fibers. The results of microdebond testing showed that the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of aramid/epoxy composites could be 26% higher than that of untreated composites because of the improved wettability between aramid fibers and epoxy resin subjected to ultrasonic online treatment. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effects of using blends of methyl and isopropyl esters of soybean oil with No. 2 diesel fuel were studied at several steady-state
operating conditions in a four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. Fuel blends that contained 20, 50, and 70% methyl soyate
and 20 and 50% isopropyl soyate were tested. Fuel properties, such as cetane number, also were investigated. Both methyl and
isopropyl esters provided significant reductions in particulate emissions compared with No. 2 diesel fuel. A blend of 50%
methyl ester and 50% No. 2 diesel fuel provided a reduction of 37% in the carbon portion of the particulates and 25% in the
total particulates. The 50% blend of isopropyl ester and 50% No. 2 diesel fuel gave a 55% reduction in carbon and a 28% reduction
in total particulate emissions. Emissions of carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons also were reduced significantly. Oxides

A wind turbine with a horizontal rotation axis is considered in the stationary airflow. A problem of choosing the law of change of the setting angle of the cross section of the wind turbine blade and the value of the angular speed so that the wind energy utilization coefficient is maximal is discussed. Maximization of the respective functional is considered as a variational problem with a priori unknown parameter. Once it is solved numerically or analytically, the optimal value of this parameter is determined, with the sought variables given by rather simple formulas. The results are analyzed on a qualitative level. In particular, the setting angle is found to change monotonically along the blade, which is confirmed by practical wind turbine design. Examples of using the proposed approach to wind turbine blade design are considered. 相似文献

We present a simple glue method for fabricating membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). Rather than the conventional “dry” hot-pressing method that relies solely on hot-pressing at a high pressure and temperature to form a MEA, the “wet” method developed in this work introduces a binding agent, consisting of Nafion® solution, between a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and an anode/cathode. The introduced binding agent can provide a better adhesion and stronger binding force between a membrane and an electrode, thereby facilitating a better interfacial contact between the electrode and the Nafion® membrane, which has been proved by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses to the cross-sectional morphology of the MEA after long-term operation. The cell performance characterization showed the MEA fabricated by the glue method was more stable in cell performance than that fabricated by the conventional hot-pressing method. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) results also demonstrated the MEA fabricated by the glue method exhibited a higher electrochemical surface area (ESA) as a result of the improved interfacial contact between the Nafion® membrane and the electrodes. Finally, the DMFC with the MEA fabricated by the glue method was characterized by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). 相似文献
