对薄板紧密对接接头的识别问题进行了深入的分析，提出了由照明、自适应局部特征提取、全局特征识别和验证融合在一起的视觉识别方法。它克服了电弧光的干扰，识别结果可靠，可以有效地解决薄板紧密对接接头识别这一难题。     

Electromagnetic reflection and transmission from a new version of Cantor fractal nonlinear multilayers

In this paper, we put forward a new version of Cantor fractal multilayers, which are nonlinear medium, and investigate its properties of reflection and transmission when a plane wave is obliquely incident upon it. A new exact self-similarity algorithm that make use of the self -similarity of these structure are developed. The results for different stages of fractal growth within the first-order nonlinear approximation are found. Compared with the traditional chain-matrix approach, the scheme provides the reflection and transmission coefficients for any stage (S) with much less calculation time on a personal computer.

A D&T roundtable: challenges for low-power and high-performancechips

Microprocessor and other lC performance continues to improve at historic rates, with no visible end in sight for the next 10 years. However, we are starting to encounter a power wall. This is true for high-performance components as well as for low-power chips with a very limited energy budget offered by batteries. We need to find ways to manage power and energy consumption on all fronts-technology, design, and architecture-without compromising performance. Otherwise, we may face discontinuation of Moore's law for the semiconductor industry in the near future. This would be triggered not by any difficulty in the scaling of process technology but by formidable barriers posed by packaging and cooling, inefficacy of power delivery, and energy constraints dictated by battery technology, which is advancing at a very lukewarm pace     

Detection of ultrasonic tones and simulated dolphin echolocation clicks by a teleost fish, the American shad (Alosa sapidissima)

The authors previously reported that American shad (Alosa sapidissima) can detect sounds from 100 Hz to 180 kHz, with two regions of best sensitivity, one from 200 to 800 Hz and the other from 25 to 150 kHz [Mann et al., Nature 389, 341 (1997)]. These results demonstrated ultrasonic hearing by shad, but thresholds at lower frequencies were potentially masked by background noise in the experimental room. In this study, the thresholds of the American shad in a quieter and smaller tank, as well as thresholds for detecting stimulated echolocation sounds of bottlenosed dolphins was determined. Shad had lower thresholds for detection (from 0.2 to 0.8 kHz) in the quieter and smaller tank compared with the previous experiment, with low-frequency background noise but similar thresholds at ultrasonic frequencies. Shad were also able to detect echolocation clicks with a threshold of 171 dB re: 1 microPa peak to peak. If spherical spreading and an absorption coefficient of 0.02 dB/m of dolphin echolocation clicks are assumed, shad should be able to detect echolocating Tursiops truncatus at ranges up to 187 m. The authors propose that ultrasonic hearing evolved in shad in response to selection pressures from echolocating odontocete cetaceans.     

制备低硫可膨胀石墨的研究

研究了以过二硫酸铵作氧化剂低硫可膨胀石墨的制备，找到了在较低温度下，制备低硫可膨胀石墨的最佳条件。即过二硫酸铵和石墨的重量比为１５％；反应温度为５５℃；反应时间为４０ｍｉｎ；硫酸浓度为９８％；硫酸与石墨的重量比为４∶１，草酸和硝酸（浓度为６５％）的重量比为７．５％时，所制得的可膨胀石墨含硫量为０．６５％，膨胀容积为２００ｍＬ／ｇ可膨胀石墨。并且，其终端产品柔性石墨具有优良的力学性能和抗氧化性能。     

A state-space approach to parameterization of stabilizingcontrollers for nonlinear systems

A state-space approach to the Youla parameterization of stabilizing controllers for linear and nonlinear systems is suggested. The stabilizing controllers (or a class of stabilizing controllers for nonlinear systems) are characterized as fractional transformations of stable parameters. The main idea behind this approach is to decompose the output feedback stabilization problem into state feedback and state estimation problems. The parameterized output feedback controllers have separation structures. This machinery allows the parameterization of stabilizing controllers to be conducted directly in state space without using coprime factorization     

Molecular and immunologic characterization of group A bovine rotavirus field isolates with P8[11] spike protein

Bovine rotavirus strain B223 is the North American prototype for group A P8[11] serotype/genotype rotaviruses. Rotaviruses with this serotype/genotype are a prevalent cause of neonatal calf diarrhea and have also been isolated from asymptomatic human infants. On the basis of deduced amino acid sequence of the outer capsid viral protein 4 (VP4), strain B223 lacks a cysteine at position 318 that is conserved among all other rotavirus strains. It has been speculated that this may result in the loss of disulfide bond and a change in the structure of the VP4 that may affect the infectivity and antigenicity of the virus. This paper describes partial sequences of the VP4 gene (nucleotides 613 to 1016 coding for amino acid positions 202 to 335) of 16 bovine rotavirus field isolates with P8[11] that were obtained from calves in Nebraska and Indiana. All the isolates lack a cystein at position 203 and had a conserved valine residue at position 318, thus indicating that the prototype strain B223 is representative of group A rotaviruses with P8[11] serotype/genotype.
