Tuning of Coordinated Controllers for Boiler-turbine Units

A simple two-by-two model for a boiler-turbine unit is derived in this paper, which can capture the essential dynamics of the typical process. The coordinated controller is designed based on this model. A PID control structure and a tuning procedure are proposed. The example shows that the method is easy to use and can achieve an acceptable performance.     

Switching Feedback Stabilization for Discrete Linear Multiple-input Systems

New idea of stabilization for discrete linear multiple-input system is proposed based on switching technique and single-input control. The system discussed here denotes coupled single-input objects to be controlled. The central processing unit chooses an object at each discrete instant according to periodic switching strategy and controls it by local state feedback. Stabilization of a multiple-input system is turned into stabilization of single-input systems under periodic switching strategy, which is easy to be realized in practice. On the other hand, only one central processing unit can realize all local controllers, which decreases the cost and increases the usage of the resources.     

LMI Condition of Quadratic D-stability for a Class of Uncertain Linear Systems

A necessary and sufficient condition of the quadratic D-stability for a class of uncertain linear systems is presented in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology.Finally,the validity and less conservatism of the obtained results in this paper are illustrated by a benchmark example.     

Receding Horizon Optimization Approach to PID Controller Parameters Auto-tuning

A novel supervised receding horizon optimal scheme is presented for discrete time systems in the process control.In the employing level,PID controller is used,while the receding horizon approach is applied to the optimized level.The considered problem is to optimize the employing level PID controller parameters through minimizing a generalized predictive control criterion.Compared with a fixed parameters PID controller,the proposed algorithm provides well performance over a range of operating condition.     

Study on Visual Positioning Based on Homography for Indoor Mobile Robot

Monocular visual positioning for indoor mobile robot is concerned in this paper.A new visual positioning method based on homography matrix in Euclidean space is proposed.It can calculate the position and pose of the mobile robot according to the intrinsic parameters of camera and two position-known points in a plane.It is very simple and low cost in computation.The experimental results show its effectiveness.     

Robustness of Watermarking:Is Error Correcting Coding Effective?

Robustness is one of the most important requirements of digital watermarking for many applications.Spread-spectrum based methods are not effective enough to ensure their robustness.By modeling digital watermarking as digital communications,several researchers proposed using error correcting coding(ECC)to improve robustness.However,an important fact that has long been neglected is that due to the imperceptibility requirement,the redundancy introduced by ECC will lead to a decrease of the magnitude of watermark signal.Therefore,a problem arises naturally: Could the usage of ECC effectively improve the robustness of watermarking?This paper addresses this problem from the perspectives of both theoretical analysis and experimental investigation.Our investigation shows that ECC cannot effectively improve the robustness of watermarking against a great majority of various attacks except for cropping and jitter attacks.Hence,ECC should not be considered as a universal measure that can be employed to enhance robustness of watermarking.     

H_∞ Control with Multiple Delays in Measurements

Based on an innovation analysis method in the Krein space,a sufficient and necessary condition is given for the existence of the solution of H_∞control problem for a linear continuous- time system with multiple delays.By introducing a re-organized innovation sequence,the H_∞control problem with delayed measurements is converted into a linear quadratic(LQ)problem and a delay- free H_2 estimation problem in the Krein space.The controller is given in terms of two forward Riccati equations and a backward Riccati equation.     

Backstepping-based Decentralized PID Controller Design for MIMO Processes

A novel decentralized PID controller design procedure based on backstepping principles is presented to operate multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)dynamic processes.The first key feature of the design procedure is that a whole MIMO control system is decomposed into multiple control loops,therefore the sub-controllers can be efficiently flexibly designed in parallel prototype. The second key feature is that the decentralized controller has equivalency to those designed by backstepping approach.As a complementary support to the design procedure,the sufficient condition of the whole closed-loop system stability is analyzed via the small gain theorem and it can be proven that the process tracking performance is improved.The simulation results of the Shell benchmark control problem are provided to verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed decentralized PID control.     

An Adaptive Image Watermarking Algorithm Based on HMM in Wavelet Domain

An adaptive image watermarking algorithm based on HMM in wavelet domain is pro- posed.The algorithm is abstracted as follows:1)the vector HMM model is employed to describe the statistical characteristic of image wavelet coefficients and the resulting HMM based detector achieves significant improvements in performance compared to the conventional correlation detector; 2)adaptive watermark embedding based on HVS analysis;3)a novel embedding strategy which is optimized for the HMM tree structure is adopted;4)the strategy of dynamical threshold is applied in watermark detection.High robust results are achieved against Stirmark attacks,such as JPEG compression,adding noise,median cut and filter.     

Robust Control of Uncertain Markov Jump Singularly Perturbed Systems

In this paper,we study the robust control for uncertain Markov jump linear singularly perturbed systems(MJLSPS),whose transition probability matrix is unknown.An improved heuris- tic algorithm is proposed to solve the nonlinear matrix inequalities.The results of this paper can apply not only to standard,but also to nonstandard MJLSPS.Moreover,the proposed approach is independent of the perturbation parameter and therefore avoids the ill-conditioned numerical prob- lems.
