This study provides species-specific catch and baseline mortality estimates of non-target species (by-catch) for the Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron commercial trap net fishery. By-catch can represent a significant mortality source that is often unknown. By-catch and by-catch mortality rates in the Saginaw Bay commercial trap net fishery, which primarily targets lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis), yellow perch (Perca flavescens), and channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus), are currently unknown. From May through August 2010, we observed onboard commercial trap net vessels and took species-specific counts of by-catch and estimated initial by-catch mortality (i.e., morbid or floating fish). The high levels of walleye (Sander vitreus) catch and mortality observed within inner Saginaw Bay have not been previously documented in the Laurentian Great Lakes. Walleye by-catch averaged 127.3 individuals per trap net lift and 42% of those caught were morbid. The levels of lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) catch observed were within the range observed in previous studies, but mortality (percent) was higher than has been previously observed. Lake trout by-catch averaged 39.4 individuals per lift and 39.2% of those were morbid. Through the use of generalized linear models, this analysis also indicated factors that most influenced catch of non-target species including time of year and soak time (i.e., time interval between trap net lifts). Surface water temperature and trap net depth most influenced mortality. These results may inform fishers and fisheries managers and highlight the need for comprehensive by-catch monitoring throughout the Great Lakes.  相似文献

Adequate moisture is very important during early age of portland cement concrete. The Single Point Magnetic Resonance Imaging technique was used to study the effects of various lengths of moist curing, and the use of curing compound, on the amount and distribution of evaporable water during drying of ordinary and high performance concrete. The specimens subjected to six different curing regimes, were cast in triplicate for a total of 72. After moist curing at 38°C, the specimens were subjected to uniaxial drying in an environmental chamber at 38°C and 40% relative humidity that simulated hot dry climate conditions. As the specimens were drying, Magnetic Resonance Imaging was used to study the evaporable water distribution, non-destructively and with millimetric resolution. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging profiles indicated a reduced moisture loss with increasing length of moist curing. Extended moist curing was especially beneficial for the two self-compacting concrete mixtures, particularly for the cover concrete. In all mixtures the use of curing compound was only marginally better than one day moist curing, but was significantly better than air curing, particularly for the cover concrete. The moisture diffusivity was evaluated from the transient moisture distribution profiles using the Boltzmann transformation method. The results indicated a strong dependence of the moisture diffusivity on the moisture content when above 80% saturation, whereas below this value it remains almost constant. The moisture diffusivity is significantly reduced with increased moist curing period.  相似文献

Many organizations rely on web applications that use back-end databases to store important data. Testing such applications requires significant effort. Manual testing alone is often impractical, so testers also rely on automated testing techniques. However, current automated testing techniques may produce false positives (or false negatives) even in a perfectly working system because the outcome of a test case depends on the state of the database which changes over time as data is inserted and deleted. The Automatic Database Tester (AutoDBT) generates functional test cases that account for database updates. AutoDBT takes as input a model of the application and a set of testing criteria. The model consists of a state transition diagram that shows how users navigate pages, a data specification that captures how data flows, and an update specification that shows how the database is updated. AutoDBT generates guard queries to determine whether the database is in a state conducive to performing and evaluating tests. AutoDBT also generates partial oracles to help validate whether a back-end database is updated correctly during testing. This paper describes the design of AutoDBT, a prototype implementation, several experiments with the prototype, and four case studies.  相似文献

This paper investigates the effect of cutter clearance angle on variation of depth of cut and cutting process with an actuated disc cutting(ADC). ADC is a cyclic cutting method with two main characteristics:(i) a disk-shape cutter is used to attack the rock in an undercutting mechanism; and(ii) the cutter is dynamically actuated as it is moved across the rock. Hence, the cutting process of such system is periodic, each recurrence known as actuation cycle. The first ADC model, developed in 2016, represented an idealization of the technology with a flat disc cutter, where no clearance angle was considered. The evolution of the contact between the disc and the rock was, therefore, computed only on horizontal x-y plane, ignoring the effect of normal component of the force acting on cartridge. This article reports on a study that incorporates the cutter inclination angle in derivation of cutter/rock interface laws. It extends the proposed kinematic and geometry based model to take into account the variable depth of cut in estimating the forces associated with cutting in one actuation cycle. Experiments were conducted using Wobble to test the predictions of the improved model at various operating conditions. The model predictions are matched with the experimental results and effects of various factors are analysed.  相似文献

This paper describes the combustion properties of the amino‐substituted guanidinium 4,4′,5,5′‐tetranitro‐2,2′‐biimidazolate (N4BIM) series, including the bis‐mono, di and triaminoguanidinium salts. These salts are of interest as propellant ingredient additives, and in particular, the bis‐triaminoguanidinium salt of N4BIM displays excellent burn rate and combustion behavior. Our combustion studies have shown that TAGN4‐BIM displays a fast burning rate and has the lowest pressure dependence exponent yet measured for a triaminoguanidinium salt.  相似文献

In a scroll-type compressor, compression is achieved through relative contact between two spiral curves. Since the scroll invention by Leon Creux (1905), multiple methods have been developed for calculating scroll geometry. What can generally be considered the most classical method, is defining each scroll curve as the involute of a circle. Gravesen and Henriksen (2001) introduced a new method to calculate scroll geometry by deriving each scroll curve from the radius of curvature parameterized with involute angle. This allows a wide range of involute geometries to be considered not included in the classical method. In this paper, Gravesen's method is extended to the tip region to include all tip geometries involved in a two arc configuration resulting in a more comprehensive scroll geometry definition. Lastly, with parametric representation of all scroll geometry, the pocket volume can be easily solved using a derived control volume approach.  相似文献

We have measured the concentration and isotopic composition of lead in blood over a 15-month period for a subject who undertook recreational shooting in outdoor and indoor firing ranges on an irregular basis. We have also measured the isotopic composition in cast lead, Cu-jacketed and Teflon-coated bullets, propellant and primer from which he assembled the cartridges. Blood lead concentration increased from 3.2 to 6.7 microg/dl with use of dominantly cast lead bullets in the outdoor range. In two intervals when no firing was undertaken for 3-4 months, the blood lead concentrations either decreased towards a baseline value in the case where only Cu-jacketed bullets were fired or remained elevated when dominantly cast lead bullets were fired. The propellants contained <2 ppm Pb and contribute negligibly to blood lead. The isotopic composition of the primer used for all bullets was consistent with a source from the US. The bullets were of different materials and made in Australia and the US, with lead from sources of different geological age and hence different isotopic signatures. Variations in blood lead concentration and isotopic composition appear most strongly influenced by the bullets. Although more expensive, the use of Cu-jacketed bullets, non-lead primers and well-ventilated indoor firing ranges would lessen the health impacts of recreational shooting.  相似文献

Mitoxantrone is an anticancer agent for which it is important to know the concentration in blood during therapy. Current methods of analysis are cumbersome, requiring a pretreatment stage. A method based on surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) has been developed using a flow cell and silver colloid as the SERRS substrate. It is simple, sensitive, fast, and reliable. Both blood plasma and serum can be analyzed directly, but fresh serum is preferred here due to reduced fluorescence in the clinical samples available. Fluorescence is reduced further by the dilution of the serum in the flow cell and by quenching by the silver of surface-adsorbed material. The effectiveness of the latter process is dependent on the contact time between the serum and the silver. The linear range encompasses the range of concentrations detected previously in patient samples using HPLC methods. In a comparative study of a series of samples taken from a patient at different times, there is good agreement between the results obtained by HPLC and SERRS with no significant difference between them at the 95% limit. The limit of detection in serum using the final optimized procedure for SERRS was 4.0 x 10(-11) M (0.02 ng/mL) mitoxantrone. The ease with which the SERRS analysis can be carried out makes it the preferred choice of technique for mitoxantrone analysis.  相似文献

Reading growth, gender effects, relative-age effects, and reading probe difficulty for reading were simultaneously assessed on one linear scale. The reading measure chosen was the Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM), words-read-correctly. A sample of 1619 students in Grades Two through Seven was employed. There is growth in reading within all grades but decreasing growth with increasing grade level. There are consistent gender differences favoring girls but the differences are equivalent to only one month's growth. There is no consistent evidence of a relative-age effect across grades. Two strategies for linking data across grades were compared and found to produce results consistent with each other and individual grade results.  相似文献
