The web technology is increasingly used by communities of various kinds to support their memory and the interactions among
their members. In these cases the WWW can be viewed as a web of local spaces (Web in the small), each characterized by local structure and semantics. The local space can be used to provide the community members with

and management of these functionalities are sustainable since they do not require more knowledge and effort than the ones
the community generates and spends to survive. The paper presents a technology, the LAW system, which is a step towards a
view of the Web in the small and complements more traditional technologies supporting the current acceptation of the World

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) programme aims at testing practical skills and competences in using ICT tools. This paper presents the results of a monitoring exercise aimed at analyzing the impact of the ECDL programme in the Italian Universities. The ECDL programme, adopted in most Italian Universities since the year 2000, has involved several tens of thousands of students. Our investigation focused on the experiences of the Universities in the year 2003 and, in particular, on the organizational and teaching issues addressed for the implementation of the programme. The analysis has shown that the implementation relied on a large variety of choices about what concerns the teaching organization, the credits awarded to the students and the type of ECDL certification required. These choices varied as a function of the size of the Universities, whereas their geographical location did not seem to have any influence. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro release of 5-fluorouracil from microspheres prepared using a novel triblock copolymer of ε-caprolactone and ethylene oxide as the encapsulating material. Microspheres of poly(ε-caprolactone-co-ethylene oxide) were prepared by employing the “hot-melt” method of microencapsulation. Microspheres were sized using sieve analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Release studies were performed using a custom-made rotating paddle dissolution apparatus. Copolymer microspheres, fabricated by the hot melt method were shown by electron microscopy to have smooth, nonporous surfaces. Drug-loaded microspheres were found to have a broad distribution of sizes, which was thought to be a consequence of the wide range of crystal sizes of the encapsulated unmilled drug. Nonlinear release kinetics were observed from microspheres in the size fraction 75-250 μm, with a pronounced “burst release” associated with the presence of drug at the surface of the microspheres. A specific delineation of the drug release mechanism was not possible due to rapid gelation, swelling, and subsequent dissolution of the microspheres that occurred on hydration. This work describes the preparation of microspheres that swell rapidly and coalesce together on hydration, accompanied by rapid drug release and copolymer dissolution over a 2-hr period. 相似文献

Resistant starch (RS) Hi Maize 260, Sphagnum magellanicum Moss (SM) both natural resources rich in total dietary fiber, and defatted hazel nut flour (DHN) as protein resource were used in the development of a pastry product (queque) with functional characteristics. Taguchi methodology was utilized in the optimization process using the orthogonal array L934 with four control factors: RS, SM. DHN and Master Gluten 4000 (MG), 3 factor levels and 9 experimental trials. The best result of Sensory Quality (SQ) and signal to noise ratio (S/N) was obtained combining the minor levels of the independent variables. Main effect (average effects of factor) analysis and anova analysis showed that SM and DHN were the control factors with a significant influence (p<0.05) on the CS with a relative contribution of 83%. It is important to emphasize the total dietary fiber (8.7%) and protein (7.2%) values, the formers due to the presence of RS and SM. Shelf life study showed that the sensory characteristics flavour, appearance and texture were not affected when samples were stored at refrigerated temperatures but not at 20 degrees C, specifically flavour always kept a good preference during the whole period of time. Samples of optimized cakes showed very good results when they were submitted to hedonic test with 100% of favorable consumer's opinions. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: The aim of this work was the simultaneous determination of both ketoacids and dicarbonyl compounds in wine. To detect ketoacid compounds in wine, a method based on the quinoxaline derivatives by the reaction with diaminobenzene, currently employed to detect α-dicarbonyl compounds, was developed. The quinoxaline derivatives were detected by RP-HPLC with UV detection, which allows the determination of the major dicarbonyl compounds in wine: glyoxal, methylglyoxal, diacetyl and pentane-2,6-dione, and the quinoxaline/quinoxalinol derivatives of α-keto-γ-(methylthio)butyric acid and β-phenylpyruvic acid (intermediate ketoacid compounds of methional and phenylacetaldehyde) were simultaneously detected by a fluorescence detector. The identification was performed by comparison with standards and also by using LC-MSMS. The levels found in 15 wines analyzed (white wines, Madeira wines, and Port wines) diverge according to the type and the age of the wine. The ketoacid compounds ranged from 0.2 to 5.7 mg/L for α-keto-γ-(methylthio)butyric acid and 0.1 to 9.6 mg/L for β-phenylpyruvic acid. The quantities observed for dicarbonyl compounds were similar to those already reported. 相似文献

Mtfr1/Chppr is a nuclear gene coding for a mitochondrial protein capable of inducing fission of this organelle in a sequence-specific manner. Here we show that in mice, Mtfr1/Chppr is ubiquitously expressed and displays the highest level of expression in pubertal and adult testes and in particular in spermatids and Leydig cells. To investigate Mtfr1 function in vivo, we analyzed homozygous mice null for this gene obtained through a gene trap approach. We show that these mice fail to express Mtfr1 and that in their testes several genes coding for enzymes involved in the defense against oxidative stress are downregulated. Among these, we studied in particular glutathione peroxidase 3 and show its expression in selected testis cell types. Furthermore, we demonstrate oxidative DNA damage specifically in testes of Mtfr1-deficient mice likely resulting from a reduced antioxidant activity. As a whole, these data suggest that Mtfr1 protects the male gonads against oxidative stress. 相似文献

Poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) is one of the most convenient materials to construct capillary electrophoresis microchips. Even though PDMS has many advantages, its use is often limited by its hydrophobicity. Although it is well-known that the surface properties of PDMS can be modified by anionic surfactants, very little is known regarding the driving forces or the electrophoretic consequences of the adsorption of anionic surfactants. In this work, the adsorption of alkyl surfactants on PDMS was studied by performing electroosmotic flow (microEOF) measurements. In order to mimic the behavior of PDMS microchannels, fused-silica capillaries were coated with PDMS and used for the microEOF measurements. This approach allowed using standard CE instrumentation and provided significant advantages over similar experiments performed on microchips. The change in the microEOF in the presence of surfactants was correlated to the surfactant adsorbed amount which, plotted versus surfactant concentration, gives an adsorption isotherm. The adsorption isotherms were obtained using alkyl surfactants with different chain lengths and head groups. According to our results, the interaction of alkyl surfactants with the PDMS surface is determined by a combination of hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, where the former is more significant than the latter. The affinity of each surfactant for the PDMS surface was calculated by fitting the adsorption profiles with a Langmuir equation and, in the case of single-charged surfactants, correlated to the corresponding cmc value. 相似文献

Human evolution and lifestyle changes caused by the agricultural and industrial revolutions have led to great advances in medicine and increased life expectancy, whilst also profoundly altering the ecological relationships and disease patterns of populations. Studies involving populations that still enjoy a rural way of life and with traits similar to the Paleolithic period reveal them to present a more robust, resistant and diverse gut microbiota, in comparison to highly industrialized civilizations. The human diet has expanded and broadened to include the consumption of high-calorie foods, particularly from animal sources such as game meat and eggs. For some time, authors have been alert to the fact that a modern lifestyle leads to reduced intake of beneficial bacteria, suggesting that nonpathogenic bacteria are being eradicated. Furthermore, therapeutic procedures, including the use of probiotics and prebiotics, have been proposed to lead to recovery of this microbiota, which is altered due to both the ageing process and lifestyle related aspects. Accordingly, this article aims to review the impact of human aging and modern lifestyle on gut microbiota, within an evolutionary, ecological, epidemiological and therapeutic context. 相似文献
