PDAPP transgenic mice have been shown to develop age dependently much of the cerebral histopathology associated with Alzheimer's disease. PDAPP mice (3–10 months old) were tested in a battery of memory tasks to determine whether they develop memory–behavioral deficits and whether these deficits occur before or after amyloid deposition. PDAPP mice manifest robust impairments in a radial-maze spatial discrimination task at all ages tested. Mild deficits were observed in a barpress learning task in 3-month-old PDAPP mice. In contrast, PDAPP mice show an age-dependent decrease in spontaneous object-recognition performance that appears to be severe at ages when amyloid deposition is known to occur. Thus, the PDAPP mouse shows severe deficits in the radial maze well before amyloid plaque deposition, whereas object-recognition performance decreases with age and may be associated with amyloid deposition. ABSTRACTCorrosion product deposits in the secondary side of nuclear plant steam generators may result in tube fouling. Tube fouling is a deposit that is influential for the heat exchanges between the primary and the secondary circuits. It may cause a steam pressure decrease and a power reduction. This paper presents a methodology to simulate the impact of tube fouling on steam generator performances. Simulations are performed with ThermoHYdraulique des Composants, which is Electricité de France reference code for the three-dimensional (3D) modeling of two-phase thermal-hydraulic flows in whole nuclear components such as steam generators. Tube fouling induces an additional thermal resistance on tubes. This resistance is supposed to correspond to the conductive resistance of a dense deposit by using the Maxwell model for a continuous solid phase with inclusions. As fouling deposit thicknesses are not uniformly distributed on the tube bundle, several thermal resistance distributions are investigated. In most cases, tube fouling concentrated in the hot leg is the most influential distribution. Nevertheless, for a large amount of deposits, tube fouling uniformly distributed in both hot and cold legs becomes more influential. This simulation series is an initial step. The sample mean of data collected during critical pollution periods is a biased estimator of the annual mean. The bias can be corrected by weighting techniques, which take into account the measurement dates. In this article, we report on some properties of polymer nanocomposites prepared from dispersions of multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNT) in aqueous solution prepared using amphiphilic block copolymers. These nanocomposites are made of polyethylene oxide as matrix and CNT wrapped with copolymers as fillers. We investigated the rheological and electrical behavior of such composites with the objectives of underlined the effect of wrapping. Two rheological and only one electrical percolation thresholds have been observed and related to polymer–CNT and CNT–CNT networks. The low values of these percolation thresholds agree with a homogeneous dispersion of CNT in the matrix. We also demonstrated that specific wrapping may induce an increase of electrical conductivity without affecting too much the viscosity of the melt. POLYM. Highly conductive poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films are obtained using ionic liquids as additives. Upon adding 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetracyanoborate (EMIM TCB) to the conducting polymer, the conductivity increases to 2084 S cm?1; this is attributed to the phase separation of PSS leading to a structural change in the film. A comparative study with 1‐butyl‐3‐methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIM BF4) shows that EMIM TCB gives higher conductivity and transmittance and can be regarded as one of the most promising additives for the preparation of indium tin oxide (ITO)‐free organic devices using PEDOT:PSS/EMIM TCB as electrodes. 相似文献

Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) was isolated from Victoria grapes (Vitis vinifera ssp. Sativa) grown in South Africa and its biochemical characteristics were studied. Optimum pH and temperature for grape PPO activity were pH 5.0 and T = 25 °C with 10 mM catechol in McIlvaine buffer as substrate. PPO showed activity using the following substances: catechol, 4 methyl catechol, d, l-DOPA, (+) catechin and chlorogenic acid. Km and Vmax values were 52.6 ± 0.00436 mM and 653 ± 24.0 OD400 nm/min in the case of 10 mM catechol as a substrate. Eight inhibitors were tested in this study and the most effective inhibitors were found to be ascorbic acid, l-cysteine and sodium metabisulfite. Kinetic studies showed that the thermal inactivation of Victoria grape PPO followed first-order kinetics, with an activation energy, Ea = 225 ± 13.5 of kJ/mol. Both in semipurified extract and in grape juice, PPO showed a pronounced high pressure stability. 相似文献

Strawberry halves were pretreated with fungal pectinmethylesterase (PME) and calcium chloride using, respectively, passive osmotic infusion, vacuum‐assisted infusion, and pressure‐assisted infusion with the aim to improve the firmness. The vacuum‐assisted procedure was observed to be the only method able to accomplish an uptake of infusion solution and hence capable of improving the firmness of the strawberries. Significantly less firmness increase was realized when tomato PME was vacuum‐infused instead of fungal PME. Strawberry halves were pretreated by vacuum‐assisted infusion with fungal PME and calcium chloride and were subsequently subjected to thermal treatments at 60 °C and 80 °C and pressure treatments at about 400 MPa and 550 MPa. For all treatments studied, the pretreated sample was significantly firmer compared with the reference sample. For the thermal processes, the residual firmness relative to the initial value before treatment was depending on the temperature of the treatment and not on the pretreatment. However, vacuum‐assisted infusion of PME and calcium could limit the portion of firmness loss due to pressure treatment to 30% compared with 80% for non‐pretreated fruits. 相似文献
