This paper discusses theoretical models for the composition dependence of equations of state and compares the quality of predictions against experimental thermodynamic property data. The mean density approximation (MDA) and the van der Waals one-fluid (VDW1) model are compared with hybrid mixing rules (HMR), in which rigorous composition dependence is used for the second and third virial coefficients and the conformai solution model is used for equation-of-state density terms beyond the third virial term. It is found that when values of unity are used for all binary and three-body unlike interaction parameters, calculated densities for methane-normal heptane mixtures have average absolute deviations of 3.54% for MDA, 4.04% for VDW1, and 2.59% for HMR. When vapor-liquid equilibrium calculations were performed for the methane-normal heptane system, average absolute deviations of calculatedK values from experimental values were 16.7% for methane and 36.4% for normal heptane using HMR, whereas when conformal solution model (CSM) mixing rules were used, the results were 34.8% for methane and 66.7% for normal heptane. When the binary interaction parameter for the characterization of interaction energies is determined, it is found to be less sensitive to state conditions in the case of HMR than either MDA or VDW1. Thin films of sphalerite-type ZnSe were grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) from elemental Zn and Se precursors. These films, grown on various substrates, show bright blue ‘edge’ emission accompanied by donor-acceptor pair emissions in the blue, green and red spectral regions. Red, green and blue emissions mixed together give a white color, with a color temperature between 2400 and 4500 K depending on a layer thickness and temperature. ZnSe grown by ALD is in consequence a promising material for the fabrication of semiconductor-based white light emitting thin film electroluminescence displays.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline ITO/ZnO films formed by porous zinc oxide microplatelets 1–3 μm in size and 100–200 nm in thickness, which consist of 30–50 nm ZnO crystallites, were sensitized to visible light by Cd x Zn1?x S nanocrystals deposited using the method of successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR). The composition of Cd x Zn1?x S nanocrystals as well as the dependence between molar Cd(II) fraction in the films and the ratio of cadmium and zinc nitrate concentrations in solutions used for the SILAR procedure were determined by a combination of electron, Raman, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopies. The photovoltage observed at illumination of the ITO/ZnO/Cd x Zn1?x S heterostructures by white light (λ >400 nm) in aqueous Na2S solution increases with a decrease of Cd(II) content proportionally to an increment in the conduction band potential of the Cd x Zn1?x S nanocrystals. The photocurrent density normalized to the light absorbance of the ITO/ZnO/Cd x Zn1?x S films increases by a factor of around four when the conduction band potential of Cd x Zn1?x S nanocrystals grows by 220 mV as a result of Cd(II) fraction changing from 1.0 to 0.62–0.67. The results show that Cd x Zn1?x S solid solutions are more advantageous sensitizers for the short-wavelength part of the sensitivity window of the liquid-junction solar cells (400–450 nm) than conventionally used cadmium sulfide.  相似文献

In the past decade, capillary electrophoresis has demonstrated increasing utility for the quantitative analysis of single cells. New applications for the analysis of dynamic cellular properties demand sampling methods with sufficient temporal resolution to accurately measure these processes. In particular, intracellular signaling pathways involving many enzymes can be modulated on subsecond time scales. We have developed a technique to rapidly lyse an adherent mammalian cell using a single electrical pulse followed by efficient loading of the cellular contents into a capillary. Microfabricated electrodes were designed to create a maximum voltage drop across the flattened cell's plasma membrane at a minimum interelectrode voltage. The influence of the interelectrode distance, pulse duration, and pulse strength on the rate of cell lysis was determined. The ability to rapidly lyse a cell and collect and separate the cellular contents was demonstrated by loading cells with Oregon Green and two isomers of carboxyfluorescein. All three fluorophores were detected with a separation efficiency comparable to that of standards. Parallel comparison of electrical lysis to that produced by a laser-based lysis system revealed that the sampling efficiencies of the two techniques were comparable. Rapid cell lysis by an electrical pulse may increase the application of capillary electrophoresis to the study of cellular dynamics requiring fast sampling times.  相似文献

Single crystals of AgGaSe2-GeSe2 γ-solid solutions are investigated. The AgxGaxGe1 − x Se2 (0.12 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) solid solutions are anisotropic p-type semiconductors with a 290-K band gap of about 0.26 eV. The high defect density in the crystals results in static disordering and the formation of density-of-states tails in the band gap, reducing their transmittance. Cu doping leads to bleaching in the optical window of the crystals (visible through near-IR spectral region). A model is proposed for the interaction between the dopant atoms and structural defects in the crystals. In this work, we consider the local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) method applied to second‐order elliptic problems arising in the modeling of single‐phase flows in porous media. It has been recently proven that the spectral condition number of the stiffness matrix exhibits an asymptotic behavior of ??(h?2) on structured and unstructured meshes, where h is the mesh size. Thus, efficient preconditioners are mandatory. We present a semi‐algebraic multilevel preconditioner for the LDG method using local Lagrange‐type interpolatory basis functions. We show, numerically, that its performance does not degrade, or at least the number of iterations increases very slowly, as the number of unknowns augments. The preconditioner is tested on problems with high jumps in the coefficients, which is the typical scenario of problems arising in porous media. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Immunotherapy has brought hope to the fight against glioblastoma, but its efficacy remains unclear. We present the case of CST, a 25-year-old female patient with a large right-hemisphere glioblastoma treated with a dendritic–tumor cell fusion vaccine. CST showed a near-complete tumor response, with a marked improvement in her functional status and simultaneous increases in tumor-specific CD8+ and CD4+ T cells. Two months before recurrence, the frequency of tumor-specific T cells decreased, while that of IL-17 and CD4+ T cells increased. CST passed away 15 months after enrollment. In this illustrative case, the tumor-specific CD4+ T-cell numbers and phenotype behaved as treatment efficacy biomarkers, highlighting the key role of the latter in glioblastoma immunotherapy.  相似文献

This study was carried out to quantitate the expression levels of microRNA-17, -19a, -34a, -155, and -210 (miRs) expressed in nine clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and one chromophobe renal cell carcinoma cell line with and without sarcomatoid differentiation, and in six primary kidney tumors with matching normal kidney tissues. The data in the five non-sarcomatoid ccRCC cell lines—RC2, CAKI-1, 786-0, RCC4, and RCC4/VHL—and in the four ccRCC with sarcomatoid differentiation—RCJ41T1, RCJ41T2, RCJ41M, and UOK-127—indicated that miR-17 and -19a were expressed at lower levels relative to miR-34a, -155, and -210. Compared with RPTEC normal epithelial cells, miR-34a, miR-155, and miR-210 were expressed at higher levels, independent of the sarcomatoid differentiation status and hypoxia-inducible factors 1α and 2α (HIFs) isoform expression. In the one chromophobe renal cell carcinoma cell line, namely, UOK-276 with sarcomatoid differentiation, and expressing tumor suppressor gene TP53, miR-34a, which is a tumor suppressor gene, was expressed at higher levels than miR-210, -155, -17, and -19a. The pilot results generated in six tumor biopsies with matching normal kidney tissues indicated that while the expression of miR-17 and -19a were similar to the normal tissue expression profile, miR-210, -155, -and 34a were expressed at a higher level. To confirm that differences in the expression levels of the five miRs in the six tumor biopsies were statistically significant, the acquisition of a larger sample size is required. Data previously generated in ccRCC cell lines demonstrating that miR-210, miR-155, and HIFs are druggable targets using a defined dose and schedule of selenium-containing molecules support the concept that simultaneous and concurrent downregulation of miR-210, miR-155, and HIFs, which regulate target genes associated with increased tumor angiogenesis and drug resistance, may offer the potential for the development of a novel mechanism-based strategy for the treatment of patients with advanced ccRCC.  相似文献
