The environmental performance of 316L grade stainless steel, in the form of tensile specimens containing a single corrosion pit with various aspect ratios, under cyclic loading in aerated chloride solutions is investigated in this study. Results from environmental tests were compared and contrasted with those obtained using finite element analysis (FEA). Fractography of the failed specimens obtained from experiments revealed that fatigue crack initiation took place at the base of the shallow pit. The crack initiation shifted towards the shoulder and the mouth of the pit for pits of increasing depth. This process is well predicted by FEA, as the strain contour maps show that strain is the highest around the centric strip of the pit. However, for shallow pits, local strain is uniformly distributed around that strip but begins to concentrate more towards the shoulder and the mouth region for increasingly deep pits.  相似文献

This paper is motivated by the crisis of freshwater in remote areas around the world and responds to the growing need for sustainable food production in arid lands. It focuses on utilizing solar energy to yield freshwater from the sea or brackish water with less environmental impacts, for greenhouses, which can produce sustainable food all over the year. The integration of various solar‐driven desalinations such as solar still, humidification‐dehumidification, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, and multieffect and multistage flash with greenhouses are evaluated, for better sustainability towards greenization. The paper first discusses the specifications of solar‐driven desalinations and compares their advantages and limitations. Then, different types of greenhouses are introduced, and their total water requirement is discussed based on their locations, crop type, greenhouse technology, irrigation type, and environmental conditions, as well as their cooling and heating strategies. Later, the existing integration of solar‐driven desalinations with greenhouses are reviewed, and their advantages and limitations are deliberated. Finally, the paper discusses the criteria to be considered when selecting solar‐driven desalinations for greenhouses and presents a detailed comparison between the water production rate and cost as well as the energy consumption of these systems. In the end, the most appropriate combinations of solar‐driven desalinations with greenhouses are recommended based on their water requirement and production cost.  相似文献

The charge, discharge, and total energy efficiencies of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) are formulated based on the irreversible heat generated in LIBs, and the basics of the energy efficiency map of these batteries are established. This map consists of several constant energy efficiency curves in a graph, where the x‐axis is the battery capacity and the y‐axis is the battery charge/discharge rate (C‐rate). In order to introduce the energy efficiency map, the efficiency maps of typical LIB families with graphite/LiCoO2, graphite/LiFePO4, and graphite/LiMn2O4 anode/cathode are generated and illustrated in this paper. The methods of usage and applications of the developed efficiency map are also described. To show the application of the efficiency map, the effects of fast charging, nominal capacity, and chemistry of typical LIB families on their energy efficiency are studied using the generated maps. It is shown how energy saving can be achieved via energy efficiency maps. Overall, the energy efficiency map is introduced as a useful tool for engineers and researchers to choose LIBs with higher energy efficiency for any targeted applications. The developed map can be also used by energy systems designers to obtain accurate efficiency of LIBs when they incorporate these batteries into their energy systems.  相似文献

A new post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) cycle was designed for novel dissimilar linear friction welding (LFW) of selective laser melted (SLM) Inconel 718 (IN718) to AD730 forged nickel-based superalloy. The microstructure and hardness of the joints after the PWHT are investigated and compared with those of as-linear friction welded samples. The precipitation of γ′ + γ″ is determined as the main mechanism to increase the mechanical properties of SLM IN718 alloy. These particles coarsened during heat treatment at 1253 K and double aging. The results show that the thermomechanical history of linear friction welded joints can affect the microstructure of IN718 alloy such as the morphology of δ phase after solution treatment (ST) from the platelike in the weld zone (WZ) to the needlelike in the base material (BM). It was found that in AD730, nanometric size γ′ particles reprecipitated close to the weld line during rapid cooling after welding. The presence of ultrafine γ′ particles and coarsening of the remaining particles in the microstructure of the alloy, during PWHT, can enhance the strength and hardness. The developed PWHT resulted in uniform hardness across the new dissimilar joint.

The paper proposes a concept configuration of reactors for coupling OCM and FTS, and presents systematic simulation results. FTS section is a combination of fixed bed and membrane fluidized bed reactor, and feed of the FT reactor is supplied by OCM. The reactor configuration is compared with the consecutive reactors of OCM and one fixed bed FT reactor. Effects of CH4/O2 ratio, percent of N2 in the feed, contact time, and input temperature on the yield of ethylene and valuable hydrocarbons are studied. The results show that compared with one FTS reactor configuration, the dual FTS reactor configuration is more effective and thus gives much higher product yields. Furthermore, a main decrease is observed in the formation of CO2 and CH4.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene tetrasulfide) (PSP) is synthesized via interfacial polycondensation of 1,2 dichloroethane and sodium tetrasulfide, in the presence of graphene oxide (GO). This process resulted in homogeneously dispersed PSP/GO nanocomposites. Nanocomposites of 0.3 and 0.5?wt% of GO are synthesized and their morphology, chemical characteristics behavior are studied employing field emission scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. Thermal characterization of composites is performed by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry analysis. Results indicate that the addition of only small amounts (0.5?wt%) of well-dispersed GO can increase the melting point more than 16°C resulting in better thermal properties for the composite. The solubility of nanocomposite is also studied and results show that the solubility depends on solvent concentration in addition to reinforcement (GO) deals.  相似文献

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) has been employed to investigate the chemical nature of samples of dicadmium stannate (Cd2SnO4) in the as-fired, electrochemically reduced, and reoxidized states. The reduction of Cd2SnO4 was found to be associated with a dramatic color change from bright yellow to dark green, a phenomenon commonly known as the electrochromic effect. Both quantitative XPS results and binding energy measurements proved that, upon exposure of the reduced ceramic bodies to air, the Sn2+ to Sn4+ transition readily took place to produce the intermediate compound, Cd2SnO3 with divalent tin. Prolonged exposure to the atmosphere did not result in further progress of reoxidation extending to monovalent cadmium. However, complete reoxidation of the reduced samples was possible by annealing in air at 350°C for a short period of time, e.g., 3 h, by which the original features of the as-fired state such as color and electrical conductivity were restored. The results also showed that reoxidized samples at high temperature assume the same XPS characteristics as those of as-fired ceramics.  相似文献

Collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) as an interconnection scheme between organisations have been shown to have significant benefits. Since its inception in the 1990s, its uptake has been lower than originally predicted. This paper identifies the major barriers and their interrelationships in CPFR implementations with a focus on high-tech industries. Interpretive Structural Modelling is used with a group of CPFR experts from industry/academia and Matrice d’Impacts Croisés Multiplication Appliquée àun Classement analysis to identify the driving and dependence powers. The paper identified 45 CPFR barriers and classifies them into four categories based on expert opinion, with only 13 of these determined to be significant. The results indicate that in terms of categories, managerial barriers are a significant root cause for both process and cultural barriers and CPFR implementation difficulties. It also indicates that although the importance of information technology to launch collaborative schemes has been addressed by many scholars, technology alone is not the complete solution for successful CPFR implementation. The paper has significant practical implications for organisations as it identifies the main CPFR barriers and their causal relationships. This will help firms in the process of CPFR strategy development particularly for mitigation strategies for dominant barriers.  相似文献
