The main objective of the study was to investigate the safety of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in healthy volunteers. The effect of CLA on body composition was also investigated. The trial design was a randomized, double‐blind placebo controlled study including 60 overweight or obese volunteers (body mass index (BMI) 27.5—39.0 kg/m2). The subjects were divided into two groups receiving 3.4 g CLA or placebo (4.5 g olive oil) daily for 12 weeks. The safety was evaluated by analysis of blood parameters and by clinical examinations at baseline and week 12. Vital signs and adverse events were registered at baseline, week 6, and week 12. Bio Impedance Assessment was applied for body composition measurements. 55 subjects completed the study. Adverse events occurred in 10% of the subjects. No difference in adverse events or other safety parameters was found between the treatment groups. Small changes in the laboratory safety data were not regarded as clinically significant. Moreover, no clinically significant changes in vital signs were observed in any of the groups. In the CLA group, mean weight was reduced by 1.1 kg (paired t‐test p = 0.005), while mean BMI was reduced by 0.4 kg/m2(p = 0.007). However, the overall treatment effect of CLA on body weight and BMI was not significant. There were no differences found between the groups with regard to efficacy parameters. The results indicate that CLA in the given dose is a safe substance in healthy populations with regard to the safety parameters investigated. 相似文献

The growth and death or survival of Bacillus cereus in sterile skimmed milk fermented with 18 different lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were investigated. B. cereus alone in milk reached about 10(7)-10(8) colony-forming units (cfu)/ml. When B. cereus was cultivated together with different Lactobacillus or Lactococcus cultures at 30 or 37 degrees C, the B. cereus counts after 72 h of fermentation ranged between < 10 cfu/ml and about 10(6) cfu/ml. The inhibition patterns for the different Lactobacillus and Lactococcus cultures varied. All the Lactococcus cultures (with one exception) reduced pH to 5.3 or lower in 7 h. After 24 h, B. cereus was not detected in any of the fast Lactococcus-fermented milk samples. After 48 h, B. cereus was not detected for 4 of the 12 Lactobacillus cultures. These cultures reduced pH to below 5.0 in 24 h. The other Lactobacillus cultures also inhibited B. cereus, but the counts of B. cereus were still 10(4)-10(6) cfu/ml after 72 h. They also reduced pH at a slower rate. Survival of B. cereus was to a variable extent linked with formation of endospores. Proteinase K did not affect the antimicrobial activity observed. Acid production with decreasing pH, particularly the initial rate of pH decrease, appears to be most important for control of B. cereus with LAB. 相似文献

The variation in sensory profile of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), belonging to the same aquaculture production batch and handled the same way, was explored by using objective sensory profiling on heat-treated minced fillets. In addition, quality index, mechanical texture, pH, fat, and water content were measured. Different groups of fish were sampled 3 different times during a production day. The results showed significant differences in the sensory profiles of individual fish within all 3 groups as well as significant differences between the groups. Differences in mechanical texture were found between individuals in 2 of the 3 groups and between the groups. No differences were found in quality index neither between individuals nor groups. A significant negative correlation between lipid content and firm texture was observed, but in general, the chemical and physical measurements could not explain the differences in the sensory profiling or in the mechanical texture measurements. The results showed that significant differences in the sensory profiles of individual fish from the same aquaculture production batch may occur. Furthermore, the results also showed sensory differences between groups of samples taken at different times during a production day. 相似文献

Conducting polymers containing incorporated gold or silver nanoparticles have been synthesized using ionic liquid solutions of gold chloride or silver nitrate. Use of the metal salts as the oxidant for monomers such as pyrrole and terthiophene allows the composites to be formed in one simple step, without the need for templates or capping agents. The incorporated metal nanoparticles are clearly visible by TEM, and the composites have been further analyzed by TGA, CV, UV‐Vis, Raman, XPS and scanning TEM coupled with EDS analysis. Utilization of an ionic liquid allows the full oxidizing power of the gold chloride to be accessed, resulting in incorporation of metallic gold into the polymers. 相似文献

Aspects of protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) function have been studied in yeast in vivo. PDI contains two thioredoxin-like domains, a and a', each of which contains an active-site CXXC motif. The relative importance of the two domains was analyzed by rendering each one inactive by mutation to SGAS. Such mutations had no significant effect on growth. The domains however, were not equivalent since the rate of folding of carboxypeptidase Y (CPY) in vivo was reduced by inactivation of the a domain but not the a' domain. To investigate the relevance of PDI redox potential, the G and H positions of each CGHC active site were randomly mutagenized. The resulting mutant PDIs were ranked by their growth phenotype on medium containing increasing concentrations of DTT. The rate of CPY folding in the mutants showed the same ranking as the DTT sensitivity, suggesting that the oxidative power of PDI is an important factor in folding in vivo. Mutants with a PDI that cannot perform oxidation reactions on its own (CGHS) had a strongly reduced growth rate. The growth rates, however, did not correlate with CPY folding, suggesting that the protein(s) required for optimal growth are dependent on PDI for oxidation. pdi1-deleted strains overexpressing the yeast PDI homologue EUG1 are viable. Exchanging the wild-type Eug1p C(L/I)HS active site sequences for C(L/I)HC increased the growth rate significantly, however, further highlighting the importance of the oxidizing function for optimal growth. 相似文献

Microstructure and texture are analyzed through the thickness of two aluminum plates cold-rolled 40% with different roll gap geometries. It is found that both texture and microstructure are strongly affected by the rolling geometry. After rolling with intermediate-size draughts a rolling-type texture is developed throughout the plate thickness. In this case, grains are subdivided by extended planar dislocation boundaries preferentially aligned at an angle of 40 ± 15° to the rolling direction. In the plate rolled with small draughts, shear texture components appear in the intermediate layers. In these layers, extended planar dislocation boundaries are frequently found to be inclined closely to the rolling direction. The subsurface and central layers of this plate exhibit microstructures similar to those in the plate rolled with intermediate draughts. It is suggested that the development of different textures and microstructures at different depths is related to the activation of different slip systems due to through-thickness strain gradients. 相似文献

The method for calculating airborne sound insulation between apartments as specified in DIN EN 12354‐1:2000 has been used for many years – and is increasingly being used – in architectural design. This article will give a short overview of the basic principles of this calculation method, highlighting some special aspects, and will then focus on its application in practice. In particular, the experience gained with the KS Schallschutzrechner software (calculator for the prediction of sound insulation between dwellings and terraced houses ), which has now been in use for twelve years, demonstrates that – in spite of the improved prognostic accuracy – the method is not more labour‐intensive than that of the previous procedure specified in DIN 4109 Supplement 1, provided suitable design aids are used. 相似文献

Abstract. This article tests the hypothesis that two industrial clusters exist in Jutland, Denmark. The article first discusses the theory of agglomeration economies in relation to industrial clusters, particularly with respect to spillover effects as a positive technological externality. Different methodological approaches to the identification of these effects are examined. In the light of this discussion, the article investigates the performance of two Danish industrial clusters that are frequently identified and examined in the literature. Little evidence is found to support claims concerning the existence and performance of the two clusters, raising wider doubts about cluster-based industrial policy. 相似文献
