Compounds of natural origin, an infinite treasure of bioactive chemical entities, persist as an inexhaustible resource for discovering new medicines. In this review, we summarize the naturally occurring ellagitannins, sanguiins, which are bioactive constituents of various traditional medicinal plants, especially from the Rosaceae family. In-depth studies of sanguiin H-6 as an antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and osteoclastogenesis inhibitory agent have led to potent drug candidates. In addition, recently, virtual screening studies have suggested that sanguiin H-6 might increase resistance toward SARS-CoV-2 in the early stages of infection. Further experimental investigations on ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) supplemented with molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation are still needed to fully understand sanguiins’ mechanism of action. In sum, sanguiins appear to be promising compounds for additional studies, especially for their application in therapies for a multitude of common and debilitating ailments.  相似文献

Azanone (HNO) is an elusive electrophilic reactive nitrogen species of growing pharmacological and biological significance. Here, we present a comparative kinetic study of HNO reactivity toward selected cyclic C-nucleophiles under aqueous conditions at pH 7.4. We applied the competition kinetics method, which is based on the use of a fluorescein-derived boronate probe FlBA and two parallel HNO reactions: with the studied scavenger or with O2 (k = 1.8 × 104 M−1s−1). We determined the second-order rate constants of HNO reactions with 13 structurally diverse C-nucleophiles (k = 33–20,000 M−1s−1). The results show that the reactivity of HNO toward C-nucleophiles depends strongly on the structure of the scavenger. The data are supported with quantum mechanical calculations. A comprehensive discussion of the HNO reaction with C-nucleophiles is provided.  相似文献

Enantiomeric fractions (EF) of PCB 95, 132, 149, and 174, alpha-HCH, o,p'-DDD, and o,p'-DDT were analyzed in 112 soil samples using two-dimensional gas chromatography and triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry. To assess the soil conditions that facilitate enantioselective fractionation of chiral compounds, EF values of selected PCBs were further correlated with a wide range of physicochemical and microbial soil parameters in an attempt to identify the influential factors and their mutual relations. It was evident that soils where nonracemic ratios of investigated compounds were found were more carbon rich but they also contained significantly more humic and fulvic acids and total nitrogen. These specific physicochemical properties were accompanied by significantly increased values of all key biotic variables, the amount of microbial biomass, and its respiration activity (both basal and substrate-induced). Therefore, the shifts from racemic ratios appeared to be associated with more sustainable and active soil microflora. Among other abiotic characteristics, most significant differences were detected in the soil texture. Soil samples with significant shifts contained increased amount of clay component and correspondingly decreased proportion of sand fraction. These differences can also be associated with more intensive microbial activity, because clay content and texture with an increased amount of microaggregates are known to be favorable for soil microflora and its viability.  相似文献

The study was conducted on the effect of the addition of common wheat bran on the chemical composition, physical properties, cooking quality and sensory traits of durum wheat pasta. The pasta was produced on an industrial scale, applying an addition of common wheat bran at doses ranging from 20 to 40%. The products obtained were compared to the pasta from whole‐grain durum wheat flour, produced under identical conditions and with commercially available whole‐grain durum wheat pasta. The increase in the content of wheat bran in the pasta caused a significant increase (Duncan test, P ≤ 0.05) of the content of protein, lipids, ash and total dietary fibre (TDF). The application of 25–30% addition of common wheat bran allowed obtaining the products which are as rich in dietary fibre as the pasta prepared at the same technological parameters from whole‐grain durum flour. The pasta containing up to 30% of bran was characterised with lower losses of dry mass and higher resistance to overcooking, in comparison with the pasta made of whole‐grain durum. Simultaneously, the products had very good sensory quality.  相似文献

Similarity search and content-based retrieval have become widely used in multimedia database systems that often manage huge data collections. Unfortunately, many effective content-based similarity models cannot be fully utilized for larger datasets, as they are computationally demanding and require massive parallel processing for both feature extraction and query evaluation tasks. In this work, we address the performance issues of effective similarity models based on feature signatures, where we focus on fast feature extraction from image thumbnails using affordable hardware. More specifically, we propose a multi-GPU implementation that increases the extraction speed by two orders of magnitude with respect to a single-threaded CPU implementation. Since the extraction algorithm is not directly parallelizable, we propose a modification of the algorithm embracing the SIMT execution model. We have experimentally verified that our GPU extractor can be successfully used to index large image datasets comprising millions of images. In order to obtain optimal extraction parameters, we employed the GPU extractor in an extensive empirical investigation of the parameter space. The experimental results are discussed from the perspectives of both performance and similarity precision.  相似文献

Many contemporary computer games, notably action and role‐playing games, represent an interesting class of navigation‐intensive dynamic real‐time simulations inhabited by autonomous intelligent virtual agents (IVAs). Although higher level reasoning of IVAs in these domains seems suited for action planning, planning is not widely adopted in existing games and similar applications. Moreover, statistically rigorous study measuring performance of planners in decision making in a game‐like domain is missing. Here, five classical planners were connected to the virtual environment of Unreal Development Kit along with a planner for delete‐free domains (only positive preconditions and positive effects). Performance of IVAs employing those planners and IVAs with reactive architecture was measured on a class of game‐inspired test environments of various sizes and under different levels of external interference. The analysis has shown that planning agents outperform reactive agents if (i) the size of the problem is small or if (b) the environment changes are either hostile to the agent or infrequent. In delete‐free domains, specialized approaches are inferior to classical planners because the lower expressivity of delete‐free domains results in lower plan quality. These results can help to determine when planning is advantageous in games and for IVAs control in other dynamic real‐time environments.  相似文献
