This research examined cognitive and motivational processes at different developmental stages in rats with neonatal ventral hippocampus (VH) lesions, an approach used to model schizophrenia. In Experiment 1, performance in a T-maze alternation task was assessed on postnatal days (PNDs) 22 and 23. VH-lesioned rats displayed a severe deficit relative to controls. In Experiment 2, behaviorally naive rats were tested for spontaneous alternation at PND 29. Alternation was intact in VH-lesioned rats only when successive alternations were separated by >5 s. In Experiment 3, motivation was tested in a cost-benefit T-maze task and in a saccharine-water preference test. Between PNDs 22-37, behaviorally naive rats with neonatal VH lesions displayed weaker saccharine preference than controls, but the 2 groups did not differ on the cost-benefit task. At adulthood, between PNDs 56-72, the difference on saccharine preference persisted and an impairment on the cost-benefit task emerged. Overall, these results suggest that working memory deficits observed at the weaning stage were not secondary to spontaneous alternation or motivation dysfunctions. This paper describes an integrated analogue instrumental chain dedicated to measuring magnetic pulses with an amplitude of a few tens or hundreds of microteslas, superimposed to a strong static magnetic field, i.e. 1.5 T. The system features a silicon Hall sensor with nested-chopping-like biasing circuitry, DC Hall voltage compensation, amplifying and multistage filtering. Low-noise performances are achieved by applying 100 kHz spinning current to the Hall device and chopping at 200 kHz to the signal conditioning blocs downstream. The microsystem achieves 20 μT resolution over a 1.6 kHz bandwidth extending from 5 Hz to 1.6 kHz under 1.5 T static field.  相似文献

We present detailed experimental and numerical investigations of resonances in deep nanogroove gratings in metallic substrates. These plasmonic nanocavity gratings feature enhanced fields within the grooves that enable a large enhancement of linear and nonlinear optical processes. This enhancement relies on both localized and propagating surface plasmons on the nanopatterned surface. We show that the efficiency of optical processes such as Raman scattering and four-wave mixing is dramatically enhanced by plasmonic nanocavity gratings.  相似文献

The on-line diagnosis is a key requirement in biological processes. This is particularly true in the case of wastewater treatment processes due to the composition of media, the requirements of operating conditions and the wide variety of possible disturbances that necessitate careful and constant monitoring of the processes. Moreover, because only partial information is available in an on-line context and because of the technical and biological complexities of the involved processes, specific characteristics are required for diagnosis purposes. Several approaches like quantitative model based, qualitative model based and process history based methods were applied over the years. This paper present a methodological framework based on evidence theory to manage the fault signals generated by conventional approaches (i.e., residuals from hardware and software redundancies, fuzzy logic based modules for process state assessment) and to account for uncertainty. The advantages of using evidence theory like modularity, detection of conflict and doubt in the information sources are illustrated with experimental results from a 1 m3 fixed bed anaerobic digestion process used for the treatment of industrial distillery wastewater.  相似文献

A stochastic model is presented for predicting the elastic response of light multi-degree-of-freedom secondary systems to strong motion earthquakes. Secondary systems may include light mechanical or electrical equipment, piping, or other light systems attached at one or several points to walls or floors of the supporting or primary structures. The critical functions of these secondary systems in nuclear power plants make the accurate prediction of their maximum responses important. The response of such secondary structures may be obtained by a direct time-history analysis, or more approximately, by the response spectrum method. The time-history solution is, of course, expensive; moreover, there is no single representative earthquake and thus a number of possible earthquake ground motions have to be considered. On the other hand, the response spectrum method applied to secondary systems can lead to unreliable results.Within the framework of the normal mode method, a decoupled stationary random vibration model is developed based on the assumption of Gaussian response process and Poisson barrier crossings. The accuracy of the proposed model is verified by comparing the calculated responses, at the 10 and 50% probability of exceedance level, with the second highest and average of the time-history responses from eight normalized accelerograms. The influence of decoupling, i.e. ignoring the dynamic interaction between the primary and the secondary systems, on the response is examined.The influence of nonstationarity is also evaluated. It is observed that nonstationarity is unimportant for earthquakes of relatively long duration, and that for a given damping most of the error can be accounted for by a simple scaling. It is also shown that one aspect of the proposed method constitutes the basis for some of the approximations in the response spectrum method; however, the proposed method yields results that are consistently more reliable than the response spectrum method. Moreover, results obtained with the proposed method represent maximum response statistics from an ensemble of earthquakes rather than a single earthquake.  相似文献

Biogas produced from anaerobic fermentation of organic substances represents an alternative renewable energy source. Its utilization would contribute to substantial reduction of the solid waste volume in land-filling and incineration. Biogas so produced could be utilized on site or it could be injected into the natural gas distribution network. Microbiological and chemical compositions of different biogas types were determined in order to conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments of the potential health hazards associated with biogas use for cooking. Biogas types that could be allowed for injection in the natural gas pipelines were listed with recommendations, while outlining the European biogas injection policy. Results indicated that the injection of the processed biogas in the distribution network did not present any additional chemical or microbiological risk to consumers when compared to natural gas, provided that the biogas resulted from the fermentation of non-dangerous waste. However, since this study did not examine the microbiological and chemical composition of biogas originating from wastewater sludges and/or industrial wastes, the injection of this type of biogas into the gas distribution network should not be allowed unless a similar risk evaluation study is conducted for each case.  相似文献
