An effective, efficient, and robust reliability analysis algorithm is proposed for non-linear structures, where seismic loading can be applied in the time domain. The method is developed specifically for steel frame structures considering all major sources of non-linearity, including geometry, material, and partially restrained (PR) connections. The non-linearity due to PR connections is modeled by moment-relative rotation curves using the four-parameter Richard model. For seismic excitation, the loading, unloading, and reloading behavior at PR connections is modeled using moment-relative rotation curves and the Masing rule. The proposed algorithm intelligently integrates the response surface method, the finite element method, the first-order reliability method, and an iterative linear interpolation scheme. The uncertainties in all the random variables including the four parameters of Richard model are considered. Two unique features of the proposed algorithm are that (1) actual earthquake time histories can be used to excite structures in the presence of major sources of non-linearity and uncertainty and (2) it is possible to estimate the risk corresponding to both the serviceability and strength limit states. The algorithm is verified using the Monte Carlo simulation technique. The verified algorithm is first used to study the reliability of a frame structure in the presence of PR connections with different degrees of flexibility. Then the algorithm is used to estimate the reliability of a frame structure excited by 13 actual recorded earthquake time histories, 12 of them recorded during the Northridge earthquake of 1994. As expected, the reliabilities of the frame are found to be quite different, when excited by several time histories of the Northridge earthquake.  相似文献

This work studied the electronic characteristics of the grains and grain boundaries of indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films using electrostatic and Kelvin probe force microscopy. Two types of ITO films were compared, deposited using radiofrequency magnetron sputtering in pure argon or 99% argon + 1% oxygen, respectively. The average grain size and surface roughness increased with substrate temperature for the films deposited in pure argon. With the addition of 1% oxygen, the increase in the grain size was inhibited above 150°C, which was suggested to be due to passivation of the grains by the excess oxygen. Electrostatic force microscopy and Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) images confirmed that the grain growth was defect mediated and occurred at defective interfaces at high temperatures. Films deposited at room temperature with 1% oxygen showed crystalline nature, while films deposited with pure argon at room temperature were amorphous as observed from KPFM images. The potential drop across the grain and grain boundary was determined by taking surface potential line profiles to evaluate the electronic properties.  相似文献

This study presents a stable and controllable synthesis of fluorescent magnetic nanoparticles in a flow-through microchannel for the bimodal use of magnetic activated cells sorting and fluorescence-activated cell sorters. The La Mer process is carried out to synthesize magnetic nanoparticles using co-precipitation. Then, the magnetic nanoparticles are coated with conjugation of chitosan and fluorescent isothiocyanate with two different concentrations. The chemical composition of the magnetic nanoparticles is determined by comparing the standard X-ray diffraction peaks of Fe3O4, and their sizes are also examined by using field emission scanning electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering measurement. The magnetic property of saturation magnetization and coercive field is characterized in a vibrating sample magnetometer. Also, the possibility of external manipulation in the synthesis of the magnetic particles is demonstrated by separating the synthesized fluorescent magnetic nanoparticles into a non-reacting lamination flow. Finally, their fluorescence property is determined by measuring the fluorescence adsorption spectra and the photoluminescence emission spectra in UV–Vis spectroscopy.  相似文献

Cubic and octahedral Cu2O microcrystals were synthesized by the reduction of a copper-ligand complex solution with glucose under microwave irradiation using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl ethylenediamine (TMEDA) as ligands. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed that the surfaces of the cubic and octahedral of Cu2O microcrystals had {100} and {111} lattice planes. The antibacterial activity of the Cu2O microcrystals against E. coli was examined using optical density (OD) methods. The antibacterial activity of the cubic Cu2O crystals was superior to that of the octahedral Cu2O crystals. The mechanism of the specific morphology-controlled synthesis of Cu2O and their morphology-dependent antibacterial activity are discussed.  相似文献

We have successfully demonstrated a ZnO nanorod-based 3D nanostructure to show a high sensitivity and very fast response/recovery to hydrogen gas. ZnO nanorods have been synthesized selectively over the pre-defined area at relatively low temperature using a simple self-catalytic solution process assisted by a lithographic method. The conductance of the ZnO nanorod device varies significantly as the concentration of the hydrogen is changed without any additive metal catalyst, revealing a high sensitivity to hydrogen gas. Its superior performance can be explained by the porous structure of its three-dimensional network and the enhanced surface reaction of the hydrogen molecules with the oxygen defects resulting from a high surface-to-volume ratio. It was found that the change of conductance follows a power law depending on the hydrogen concentration. A Langmuir isotherm following an ideal power law and a cross-over behavior of the activation energy with respect to hydrogen concentration were observed. This is a very novel and intriguing phenomenon on nanostructured materials, which suggests competitive surface reactions in ZnO nanorod gas sensors.  相似文献

Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is characterized by high-flow blood vessels connecting arteries and veins without capillaries. This disease shows increased angiogenesis and a pathophysiological hypoxic environment in proximal tissues. Here, we analyzed the effects of hypoxia on angiogenesis in the endothelial cells (ECs) of AVM and normal tissues. ECs from human normal and AVM tissues were evaluated using immunocytochemistry with CD31. In vitro tube formation under hypoxia was tested in both ECs using Matrigel. The relative expression of angiogenesis-related genes was measured using real-time PCR. Under normoxia, CD31 was significantly higher in AVM ECs (79.23 ± 0.65%) than in normal ECs (74.15 ± 0.70%). Similar results were observed under hypoxia in AVM ECs (63.85 ± 1.84%) and normal ECs (60.52 ± 0.51%). In the tube formation test under normoxic and hypoxic conditions, the junction count and total vessel length were significantly greater in AVM ECs than normal ECs. Under both normoxia and hypoxia, the angiogenesis-related gene FSTL1 showed a significantly higher expression in AVM ECs than in normal ECs. Under hypoxia, CSPG4 expression was significantly lower in AVM ECs than in normal ECs. Accordingly, the angiogenic effect was increased in AVM ECs compared with that in normal ECs. These results provide a basic knowledge for an AVM treatment strategy.  相似文献

Mobile communications and wireless networks are developing at a fast pace. The increasing number of mobile subscribers and terminals are the real life evidence of the fast growing development in the area of wireless communication. Wireless communication technology is now pursuing 4G (fourth generation) and seeking a scheme to provide quality of service (QoS) to the various applications continuously even moving to another network. In this paper, we proposed a dynamic resource management architecture which considers vertical handoff situation with minimal disruption of service to the users considering seamless provision of QoS. The proposed scheme efficiently manages resources and provides stable services to the mobile terminal. The simulation results show that resource management enabled mobile terminals utilize system resources, CPU and memory, efficiently improved by 40% and 65%, respectively, rather than mobile terminals without resource tuning.  相似文献

Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) is the first enzyme in both serotonin and melatonin biosynthesis in neuroendocrine cells of the pineal gland. The lack of immortalized neuroendocrine pineal cell lines has been a major obstacle to the study of the tissue-specific and circadian regulation of TPH gene expression in the pineal gland. Previously, we demonstrated that a 6.1 kb 5' upstream region of the mouse TPH gene directs the restricted expression of a lacZ reporter gene to the pineal gland and the raphe nuclei of transgenic mice. Therefore, to develop TPH-expressing pineal cell lines we first established transgenic mice carrying a construct consisting of 6.1 kb of 5' flanking region fused to the SV40 T-antigen. These animals developed highly invasive pineal tumors and died at 12-15 weeks of age. The pineal tumors obtained from the transgenic mice were utilized to establish the immortalized pinealocyte-derived cell lines. These cells express two marker enzymes, TPH and serotonin N-acetyltransferase (NAT). In pineal gland TPH and NAT expressions have been known to be regulated during circadian cycle. The two established cell lines therefore promise to be a valuable in vitro model system for the study of the rhythmic nature of the pineal function at molecular level in mammal.  相似文献

The evolution of complex leaky waves in partially open gyromagnetic slotlines into complex modes in a shielded slotline is presented. Given a particular stratified gyromagnetic slotline with two sidewalls present, four types (Types I-IV) of guided structures are defined and investigated, depending upon the four possible combinations of top and bottom covers. The behavior of the complex solutions is discussed for the partially open gyromagnetic slotlines. Initially, the slotline of Type I, which lacks both top and bottom covers, shows that no coupling exists among various pairs of leaky waves. By adding only a top cover into Type I, the resultant slotline of Type II exhibits certain coupling between different sets of leaky waves. Similarly, by adding only a bottom cover into Type I, the resultant slotline of Type III shows that certain strong leaky waves of Types I and II now become weak leaky waves. From these numerical experiments, we deduce that the complex modes supported by Type IV, which is completely shielded, can be the result of the mode coupling of the two previously found leaky waves in Types II and III waveguides, respectively. Therefore, the formation of complex modes in shielded slotline is related to the effects of covering on mode coupling of the various leaky waves of the partially open slotlines  相似文献
