Sleep is normally a time of motor quiescence. Motor disorders may, however, arise during the different phases of sleep. Nocturnal myoclonus or periodic leg movements in sleep usually occur during light sleep and may be considered the motor accompaniment of the cyclic fluctuations in excitability typical of such stages. Nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy also occurs during NREM sleep and may be misdiagnosed as parasomnia. REM behavior disorders are instead dissociated episodes of REM sleep without atonia, often associated with or even heralding Parkinson's disease or multiple system atrophy.  相似文献

This study reports on the effects of BaTiO3—a high dielectric constant additive—addition on charging and filtration properties of meltblown polypropylene (PP) electret filters. Since electrostatic capture efficiency of electret filters is mainly dependent on electrical forces, surface potential and aerosol filtration properties were analyzed and compared. Due to quasi-permanent nature of electret property, stability of charging and filtration performance was also investigated via following an isothermal charge decay procedure. Addition of BaTiO3 did not alter fiber morphology significantly. Particularly, the stability of electrostatic filtration performance was found to be promising with the addition of BaTiO3. Possible microstructural changes after addition of BaTiO3 were investigated via wide angle X-ray diffraction. Changes in crystal structure of PP upon addition of BaTiO3 did not deteriorate electrostatic properties.

In this study, a three-dimensional transient numerical analysis was performed inside the automobile cabin during heating period. A three-dimensional vehicle cabin including glazing surfaces was modeled by using the real dimensions of a car. A virtual manikin with real dimensions and physiological shape was added to the model of the vehicle cabin. It was assumed that the manikin surfaces were subjected to either constant heat flux or constant temperature. Three-dimensional fluid flow, temperature distribution, and heat transfer characteristics inside the cabin were calculated. Experimental measurements were also conducted. Comparisons of the results were presented and discussed. The results of numerical calculations were in good agreement with the experimental and theoretical data in the literature.  相似文献

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) microspheres loaded with imatinib mesylate has been developed as a new therapeutic strategy to prevent craniopharyngioma recurrence. Microspheres composed of different lactic/glycolic acid ratios, molecular weights and drug compositions were synthesized and loaded with imatinib mesylate by modified double-emulsion/solvent evaporation technique and subsequently characterized by particle-size distribution, scanning electron microscopy, encapsulation efficiency and in vitro drug release. Inhibitory potential of imatinib containing microspheres on tumor neovascularization was investigated on craniopharyngioma tumor samples by rat cornea angiogenesis assay. Results showed that microspheres in different LA:GA ratios [LA:GA 50:50 (G50), 75:25 (G25), 85:15 (G15)] considerably reduced neovascularization induced by recurrent tumor samples in an in vivo angiogenesis assay (P < 0.01). Our data indicate that local delivery of imatinib mesylate to the post-surgical tumoral cavity using biodegradable microspheres may be a promising biologically selective approach to prevent the recurrence of craniopharyngiomas, via inhibition of neovascularization.  相似文献

A long-term performance of a packed-bed bioreactor containing sulfur and limestone was evaluated for the denitrification of drinking water. Autotrophic denitrification rate was limited by the slow dissolution rate of sulfur and limestone. Dissolution of limestone for alkalinity supplementation increased hardness due to release of Ca2+. Sulfate production is the main disadvantage of the sulfur autotrophic denitrification process. The effluent sulfate concentration was reduced to values below drinking water guidelines by stimulating the simultaneous heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification with methanol supplementation. Complete removal of 75 mg/L NO3-N with effluent sulfate concentration of around 225 mg/L was achieved when methanol was supplemented at methanol/NO3-N ratio of 1.67 (mg/mg), which was much lower than the theoretical value of 2.47 for heterotrophic denitrification. Batch studies showed that sulfur-based autotrophic NO2-N reduction rate was around three times lower than the reduction rate of NO3-N, which led to NO2-N accumulation at high loadings.  相似文献

Polypropylene (PP) is a semi-crystalline polymer that displays simple manufacturing, high stiffness, lightweight, chemical resistance, and inexpensive. However, PP has significant drawbacks, such as poor brittleness at low temperatures, high shrinkage ratio, and low impact resistance, which limit its development. Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) possesses recyclable and eco-friendly characteristics, along with the elasticity of rubber and exceptional mechanical properties. In this study, a flexible and high-filtration performance PP-TPU textile material was developed by melt-blowing for filtering PM0.3 aerosols. For the first time, a melt-blown PP-TPU nonwoven was used as an air filter. The fiber morphological studies exhibited that addition of 10 and 20 wt.% TPU into PP resulted in a fiber diameter increment from 0.94 to 1.24 μm. Also, melt-blown PP-TPU forms helical fibers, which are different from fibers noticed in melt-blown PP. Corona-charged double-layer 80PP-20TPU nonwovens have a filtration efficiency of 99.25% and quality factor (QF) of 0.13 mm H2O−1 at an air flow rate of 95 L/min. Moreover, PP's tensile strength was increased by 72.22%, and elongation was raised by 38.1% with the addition of 20 wt.% TPU. Thus, PP-TPU melt-blown composites may bring novel perspectives into the design and development of high-performance filtering materials for a variety of applications.  相似文献

We present an analysis of the phase and amplitude responses of guided resonances in a photonic crystal slab. Through this analysis, we obtain the general rules and conditions under which a photonic crystal slab can be employed as a general elliptical polarization beam splitter, separating an incoming beam equally into its two orthogonal constituents, so that half the power is reflected in one polarization state, and half the power is transmitted in the other state. We show that at normal incidence a photonic crystal slab acts as a dual quarter-wave retarder in which the fast and slow axes are switched for reflection and transmission. We also analyze the case where such a structure operates at oblique incidences. As a result we show that the effective dielectric constant of the photonic crystal slab imposes the Brewster angle as a boundary, separating two ranges of angles with different mechanisms of polarization beam splitting. We show that the diattenuation can be tuned from zero to one to make the structure a circular or linear polarization beam splitter. We verify our analytical analysis through finite-difference time-domain simulations and experimental measurements at infrared wavelengths.  相似文献

Wood and bark parts of Laurus nobilis L. were extracted with two different methods to determine the volatile compounds. They were analyzed with GC/MS. Monoterpenes were determined as the principal group of the bark volatiles whereas sesquiterpenes are the main components in wood extractives. The main compounds in bark are 1.8-cineol and eugenol, while dehydrocostunolide in the wood extract.  相似文献

Durable, robust, and hydrophobic air filtration media was produced via electro-blow spinning (EBS) technique using polysulfone (PSU) due to its superior properties. To our knowledge, this is the first optimization study of PSU nanofiber production via EBS technique for air filtration applications. Concentration, air pressure, and voltage were determined as independent variables for the optimization based on “smaller is the better” approach of Taguchi Design of Experiment. The optimized values which supplied the smallest average fiber diameter (AFD) possible were obtained as 13 wt% PSU, 3 bar, and 7.5 kV. The AFD of the sample obtained from the confirmation experiment was calculated as 105 ± 34 nm. Surface morphologies, porosity values, and wettability behaviors of the samples were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy, gravimetric method, and water contact angle measurements, respectively. PSU nanofiber mats exhibited superhydrophobic behavior (water contact angle values up to 159.8°) which is important for various separation processes. Samples prepared at different deposition times (15, 30, 45, and 60 min) were investigated in terms of particle capture efficiency and pressure drop. The 0.3 μm particle filtration efficiency was found to be 98.09% at an expense of 202 Pa pressure drop which would be suitable for various respiratory and HVAC filter applications.  相似文献
