Formation of Gold and Silver Nanoparticle Arrays and Thin Shells on Mesostructured Silica Nanofibers

Mesostructured silica nanofibers synthesized in high yields with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as the structure‐directing agent in HBr solutions are used as templates for the assembly of Au and Ag nanoparticles and the formation of thin Au shells along the fiber axis. Presynthesized spherical Au and Ag nanoparticles are adsorbed in varying amounts onto the silica nanofibers through bifunctional linking molecules. Nonspherical Au nanoparticles with sharp tips are synthesized on the nanofibers through a seed‐mediated growth approach. The number density of nonspherical Au nanoparticles is controlled by varying the amount of seeded nanofibers relative to the amount of supplied Au precursor. This seed‐mediated growth is further used to form continuous Au shells around the silica nanofibers. Both the Au‐ and Ag‐nanoparticle/silica‐nanofiber hybrid nanostructures and silica/Au core/shell fibers exhibit extinction spectra that are distinct from the spectra of Au and Ag nanoparticles in solution, indicating the presence of new surface plasmon resonance modes in the silica/Au core/shell fibers and surface plasmon coupling between closely spaced metal nanoparticles assembled on silica nanofibers. Spherical Au‐ and Ag‐nanoparticle/silica‐nanofiber hybrid nanostructures are further used as substrates for surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy, and the enhancement factors of the Raman signals obtained on the Ag‐nanoparticle/silica‐nanofiber hybrid nanostructures are 2 × 105 for 4‐mercaptobenzoic acid and 4‐mercaptophenol and 7 × 107 for rhodamine B isothiocyanate. We conducted the welding experiment using three kinds of test piece, actual size, diaphragm and butt joint. Then, we examined the influence on strength, cooling time and carbon equivalent of weld metal by welding conditions on the different test pieces. We calculated an estimate of cooling time and chemical components. Abstract A method is developed to eliminate the influence of the perturbed reference wave when long-range electromagnetic fields are investigated by electron holography. Based on phase relationships between the reference wave and the object wave, with digital reconstruction and data processing, we can extract the phase of an object wave from the phase difference between the object wave and the perturbed wave, which is always obtained in normal reconstruction. This paper reports the results of a durability study of the effects of exposing externally-bonded CFRP-concrete beams to three elevated water temperatures (25 °C, 40 °C and 60 °C). The effects of the heated water environments on the adhesive bonding layer between the CFRP and concrete beams were evaluated by quantifying: (1) the changes of delaminations within the adhesive bonding layer, (2) the changes in resistance to direct shear force and (3) the changes of failure mode distribution. Before the exposure, the condition of the adhesive bonding layer was inspected by infrared thermography (IRT). After exposure, the deterioration of the same bonding layer and failure mode distributions were measured by analyzing the visual photos on the failed CFRP strips. The failure modes were found to be affected largely by the combined effect of elevated temperature and moisture ingress, in which three types were identified: failure at concrete beams, at adhesive bonding layer and interface between CFRP strip and concrete. With these methods, results of 54 specimens show that the adhesive bonding layers of all the specimens had gradually deteriorated in the 40 °C and 60 °C water baths. This deterioration was due to the weakening of the adhesive bonding layers when the glass transition temperature (Tg) or the heat distortion temperature (HDT) was approached or even exceeded, and gradual development of delaminations at adhesive bonding layer. 相似文献
