Abstract

In this work, we evaluated the different energy consumption rates associated with the total frictional energy for a ball sliding on a flat surface. The energy generated by the sliding two bodies in contact is dissipated into the materials in various forms. The wear consumption energy for a steel ball against a diamond-like carbon surface was evaluated by the wear coefficient of the wear volume–energy input equation. The strain energy generated in the steel ball as a result of being made to slide under a certain load was calculated using the Hertzian theory. The chemical reaction energy was estimated based on iron oxidation. Finally, the frictional energy dissipated as heat was obtained by subtracting the wear and the strain energies from the total frictional energy.  相似文献

Located in a beautiful and remote region of Japan, it encourages a small group of architecture students to respond to the setting by creating projects that read, represent and spatially reconfigure the landscape into new constructions. Well-aligned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were synthesized using a low-temperature hydrothermal method employing a zinc/sodium dodecyl sulfate (Zn/SDS) composite as a seed layer. The results of X-ray diffraction measurements indicate that the Zn/SDS composite has a lamellar structure with an interlayer distance of 3.12 nm, which is shorter than that of the lamellar structure of SDS (3.82 nm) due to ion exchange between Zn and Na. The results of X-ray absorption fine structure analyses suggest that ZnO crystals start to grow after an induction period of 20-30 min. The length of nanorods and the aspect ratio of ZnO nanorods could be controlled by altering the molarity of ammonium and zinc nitrate in the growth solutions.  相似文献

Iron-doped β-rhombohedral boron was synthesized by 28 GHz microwave irradiation on a powder mixture of iron and β-boron. β-Boron strongly absorbs 28 GHz microwaves, and this strong coupling with microwave energy can be used to promote a reaction with iron dopant. The powder mixture was heated to 1800°C within 2 min by microwave irradiation, resulting in the formation of β-rhombohedral boron interstitially doped with iron. The reaction proceeded rapidly without accompanying grain growth. The XRD analysis and the electrical conductivity measurements revealed successful incorporation of iron into two doping sites of β-boron.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Microvascular angina can occur during exercise and at rest. Reduced vasodilator capacity of the coronary microvessels is implicated as a cause of angina during exercise, but the mechanism of angina at rest is not known. Our aim was to test the hypothesis that primary hyperconstriction (spasm) of coronary microvessels causes myocardial ischaemia at rest. METHODS: Acetylcholine induces coronary artery spasm in patients with variant angina. We tested the effects of intracoronary acetylcholine at graded doses in 117 consecutive patients with chest pain (at rest, during exertion, or both) and no flow-limiting (>50%) organic stenosis in the large epicardial coronary arteries. We also assessed the metabolism of myocardial lactate during acetylcholine administration in 36 of the patients by measurement of lactate in paired blood samples from the coronary artery and coronary sinus vein. FINDINGS: Of the 117 patients, 63 (54%) had large-artery spasm, 29 (25%) had microvascular spasm, and 25 (21%) had atypical chest pain. The 29 patients with microvascular spasm developed angina-like chest pain, ischaemic electrocardiogram (ECG) changes, or both spontaneously (two patients) or after administration of acetylcholine (27 patients) without spasm of the large epicardial coronary arteries. Testing of paired samples of arterial and coronary sinus venous blood showed that lactate was produced during angina attack in nine of 11 patients with microvascular spasm. There was more women (p<0.01) and fewer coronary risk factors (p<0.01) in patients with microvascular spasm than in those with large-artery spasm. INTERPRETATION: Coronary microvascular spasm and resultant myocardial ischaemia may be the cause of chest pain in a subgroup of patients with microvascular angina.  相似文献

Studies in vitro suggested that inflammatory cytokines could cause myocardial dysfunction. However, the detailed mechanism for the cytokine-induced myocardial dysfunction in vivo remains to be examined. We thus examined this point in our new canine model in vivo, in which microspheres with and without IL-1beta were injected into the left main coronary artery. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was evaluated by echocardiography for 1 wk. Immediately after the microsphere injection, LVEF decreased to approximately 30% in both groups. While LVEF rapidly normalized in 2 d in the control group, it was markedly impaired in the IL-1beta group even at day 7. Pretreatment with dexamethasone or with aminoguanidine, an inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase, prevented the IL-1beta-induced myocardial dysfunction. Nitrotyrosine concentration, an in vivo marker of the peroxynitrite production by nitric oxide and superoxide anion, was significantly higher in the myocardium of the IL-1beta group than in that of the control group or the group cotreated with dexamethasone or aminoguanidine. There was an inverse linear relationship between myocardial nitrotyrosine concentrations and LVEF. These results indicate that IL-1beta induces sustained myocardial dysfunction in vivo and that nitric oxide produced by inducible nitric oxide synthase and the resultant formation of peroxynitrite are substantially involved in the pathogenesis of the cytokine-induced sustained myocardial dysfunction in vivo.  相似文献

Brittleness has been the major obstacle in using ceramics. Previous research has shown, however, that ceramic materials that have small grain size show plasticity. We therefore propose two methods to produce nanostructured ceramic films by chemical vapor deposition (CVD): (1) high-speed deposition and (2) simultaneous deposition of insoluble materials (contained in a mixture of insoluble solids). These methods were successfully applied to aluminum nitride/ titanium nitride (AlN/TiN) films produced by CVD. The AlN/TiN nanostructured composite films were synthesized by atmospheric-pressure CVD (APCVD), using aluminum chloride (AlC13), titanium chloride (TiCl4), and ammonia (NH3) as reactant gases at temperatures ranging from 923 to 1123 K in a horizontal tubular reactor. For the highspeed deposition strategy, we obtained growth rates as high as 1.2 mm/h. Using either method, we were able to attain AlN/TiN composite films that had a grain size of 8 nm (AlN crystals) and 6 nm (TIN crystals), showing that these methods are effective in producing nanostructured composite films by CVD. Measurements of the fracture toughness of the prepared materials indicated that these strategies can be used to improve the ductility of ceramics.  相似文献

We propose an all solid-state (liquid free) polymer electrolyte (SPE) prepared from a hyper-branched graft copolymer. The graft copolymer consisting of a poly(methyl methacrylate) main chain and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate side chains was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization changing the average chain distance between side chains, side chain length and branched chain length of the proposed structure of the graft copolymer. The ionic conductivity of the SPEs increases with increasing the side chain length, branched chain length and/or average distance between the side chains. The ionic conductivity of the SPE prepared from POEM9 whose POEM content = 51 wt% shows 2 × 10−5 S/cm at 30 °C. The tensile strength of the SPEs decreases with increases the side chain length, branched chain length and/or average distance between the side chains. These results indicate that a SPE prepared from the hyper-branched graft copolymer has potential to be applied to an all-solid polymer electrolyte.  相似文献

Ordered mesoporous carbon (COU-2) was synthesized by a soft-templating method. The COU-2 mesoporous carbon was activated by using KOH to improve its porosity. The mesopore size of COU-2 was 5.5 nm and did not change by the KOH activation. But, the BET surface area of COU-2 largely increased from 694 to 1685 m2/g and total pore volume was increased from 0.54 to 0.94 cm3/g after the KOH activation. The large increase of micropore volume is due to the increase of the surface area. Electrochemical cyclic voltammetry measurements were conducted in aqueous (1 M sulfuric acid) and organic (1 M tetraethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate/polypropylene carbonate) electrolyte solutions. The KOH-activated COU-2 carbon shows superior capacitances over the COU-2 carbon and a commercial microporous carbon both in aqueous and organic electrolyte solutions. These results suggest that the carbons having regularly-interconnected uniform mesopores and micropores in thin pore walls are desirable for the electrodes in electrochemical double-layer capacitors.  相似文献

The solid solution of yttrium aluminum garnet-yttrium iron garnet [YAIG, Y3(Al,Fe)5O12] was synthesized from the component oxides by 28 GHz-microwave irradiation. The compositions of the resulting garnets were not the same as the nominal compositions. This difference could be explained by selective coupling of chemical species with microwaves, predictable from the temperature–time profiles of each raw material under microwave irradiation. The diffusion process under microwave irradiation was discussed.  相似文献
