Origanum vulgare L. (oregano) is a flavoring herb widely used around the world. In the present study, crude extract of O. vulgare L. (oregano) and its petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, water fractions were prepared in order to isolate and investigate antimutagenic compounds from the active extract through the bacterial genotoxicity assay guided fractionation procedures. The methanol extract and its n-butanol fraction showed significant antimutagenic activity. In the end of sub-fractionation process of the n-butanol extract, luteolin 7-O-glucuronide and luteolin 7-O-xyloside were isolated. These compounds showed significant antimutagenic activity against 9-Aminoacridine and N-Methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine mutagenicity. The inhibition rates ranged from 22.1% (luteolin 7-O-xyloside: Salmonella typhimurium TA1537 – 0.4 mM/plate) to 67.8% (luteolin 7-O-glucuronide: S. typhimurium TA1537 – 0.8 μM/plate). In conclusion, the results revealed that luteolin 7-O-glucuronide and luteolin 7-O-xyloside are two of the antimutagenic compounds of O. vulgare L. ssp. vulgare.  相似文献

Novel hole‐transporting dendrimeric molecules containing dioctylfluorene, spirobi(fluorene) and spiro(cylododecane‐fluorene) as the core unit and different numbers of carbazole and thiophene moieties as the peripheral groups are synthesized. All the dendrimers are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR, UV–vis, PL spectroscopy, and MALDI‐TOF. They are thermally stable with high glass transition and decomposition temperatures and exhibit chemically reversible redox processes. They are used as the hole‐transporting layer (HTL) material for multilayer organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with a low turn‐on voltage of around 2.5 V and a bright green emission with a maximum luminance of around 25400 cd m?2.  相似文献

Four different agricultural wastes, namely tobacco stalk (TS), cotton stalk (CS), sunflower stalk (SS) and wheat straw (WS) were tested for the production of Xylooligosaccharide (XO). XO production was performed by enzymatic hydrolysis of xylans which were obtained by alkali extraction from the agricultural wastes. Depending on the source, it was found that these four agricultural wastes contained different amount of xylan, cellulose and lignin and the xylan obtained from these source contained different amount of sugar and uronic acid. The highest amount of arabinose was in xylan from WS while the other xylans mainly had xylose and small amount of glucose. Different xylanase preparations were evaluated for production XO from these xylan sources. Aspergillus niger xylanase produced lower amount of XO from wheat straw xylan (WSX) than cotton stalk xylan (CSX), sun flower xylan (SSX) and tobacco stalk xylan (TSX) while Trichoderma longibrachiatum xylanase hydrolyzed highly branched WSX better. The HPLC analysis of the hydrolysis products indicated that depending on structure and composition of xylan, A. niger xylanase produced less amount of xylose than T. longibrachiatum xylanase, and the hyrolysis product of A. niger xylanase contained different amount of oligosaccharides (X2 > X3 > X4 > X5 > X6, >X6). Regardless of the structural differences of the xylan types presented in this paper, all xylans generated XO with different degree of polymerization (DP), but the DP of XO depended on the enzyme specificity and the structure of substrate.  相似文献

This paper develops a step-by-step methodology for the application of Full Bayes (FB) approach for before-and-after analysis of road safety countermeasures. As part of this methodology, it studies the posterior prediction capability of Bayesian approaches and their use in crash reduction factor (CRF) estimation. A collection of candidate models are developed to investigate the impacts of different countermeasures on road safety when limited data are available. The candidate models include traditional, random effects, non-hierarchical and hierarchical Poisson-Gamma and Poisson-Lognormal (P-LN) distributions. The use of random effects and hierarchical model structures allows treatment of the data in a time-series cross-section panel, and deal with the spatial and temporal effects in the data. Next, the proposed FB estimation methodology is applied to urban roads in New Jersey to investigate the impacts of different treatment measures on the safety of “urban collectors and arterial roads” with speed limits less than 45 mph. The treatment types include (1) increase in lane width, (2) installation of median barriers, (3) vertical and horizontal improvements in the road alignment; and (4) installation of guide rails. The safety performance functions developed via different model structures show that random effects hierarchical P-LN models with informative hyper-priors perform better compared with other model structures for each treatment type. The individual CRF values are also found to be consistent across the road sections, with all showing a decrease in crash rates after the specific treatment except guide rail installation treatment. The highest decrease in the crash rate is observed after the improvement in vertical and horizontal alignment followed by increase in lane width and installation of median barriers. Overall statistical analyses of the results obtained from different candidate models show that when limited data are available, P-LN model structure combined with higher levels of hierarchy and informative priors may reduce the biases in model parameters resulting in more robust estimates.  相似文献

This study explored how teacher variations in use of a web-technology of known effectiveness, affected growth in literacy. Teachers used ABRACADACABRA (ABRA) (http://grover.concordia.ca/abra/version1/abracadabra.html), in Grade 1 Language Arts classes. Children (N = 60) across three classrooms were exposed to ABRA activities and a control class followed the regular provincial literacy program. Interventions were run by briefly-trained teachers for a total of 16 h. Each teacher chose to use the program in qualitatively distinct ways that corresponded to the first three stages of Sandholtz, Ringstaff, and Dwyer’s (1997) technology integration model, namely: Entry, Adoption and Adaptation. Growth in literacy between pre- and post-test revealed significant differences associated with technology integration style across all measures of literacy and related language skills. The largest and most-widespread effects were evident for the Adaptation group that linked technology content to wider learning themes in the classroom. In terms of overall growth in standardised literacy scores across all six such measures used, Adaptation proved to be 60% more effective than Adoption. Results suggest that explorations of exactly how teachers use technology have important implications for practice as well as for the interpretation of field-based studies of the effectiveness of educational technology.  相似文献

Employee support provides enormous benefits to help sustain a competitive advantage, respond to changes more quickly than competitors, and position the organization ahead of others. Awareness of this fact triggers organizations to prepare new motivational programs and practices. Employee involvement and rewards are among the many ways to achieve employee job satisfaction and motivational needs. Employee involvement entails giving employees an opportunity to influence decisions and actions regarding their jobs. Furthermore, rewards have the potential to prompt employees to act in line with organizational goals. This study aims to examine the relationship between employee involvement and job satisfaction based on the mediation effect of rewarding. Four hundred employees from the financial sector responded to a questionnaire. The relationship between employee involvement and job satisfaction was tested using hierarchical linear regression analysis. Results revealed that rewarding does mediate the relationship between employee involvement and job satisfaction. Organizations that give priority to employee needs and motivational processes should take both employee involvement and rewarding into consideration.  相似文献

Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) have entered the class of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) to meet the multimedia requirements of new emerging applications, such as surveillance and telepresence. Combining the traditional scalar sensors used in WSN nodes with tiny cameras and microphones, WMSNs commonly carry heterogeneous traffic with different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. In order to deliver heterogeneous traffic with different requirements in highly resource constrained sensor networks, QoS provisioning and service differentiation become unavoidable. In this paper first we discuss the QoS-provisioning in sensor networks and evaluate the efficiency of existing QoS-aware MAC protocols. As a result of this evaluation, next we design and implement a QoS-aware MAC protocol for WMSNs, Diff-MAC, which integrates different methods to meet the requirements of QoS provisioning to deliver heterogeneous traffic and provides a fair all-in-one QoS-aware MAC protocol. Diff-MAC aims to increase the utilization of the channel with effective service differentiation mechanisms while providing fair and fast delivery of the data. Performance evaluation results of Diff-MAC, obtained through extensive simulations, show significant improvements, in terms of latency, data delivery and energy efficiency, compared to two other existing protocols. Implementation of Diff-MAC on Imote2 platform also reveals that the protocol with moderate complexity can be easily implemented on the resource constrained motes.  相似文献

Vascular aging, characterized by structural and functional alterations of the vascular wall, is a hallmark of aging and is tightly related to the development of cardiovascular mortality and age-associated vascular pathologies. Over the last years, extensive and ongoing research has highlighted several sophisticated molecular mechanisms that are involved in the pathophysiology of vascular aging. A more thorough understanding of these mechanisms could help to provide a new insight into the complex biology of this non-reversible vascular process and direct future interventions to improve longevity. In this review, we discuss the role of the most important molecular pathways involved in vascular ageing including oxidative stress, vascular inflammation, extracellular matrix metalloproteinases activity, epigenetic regulation, telomere shortening, senescence and autophagy.  相似文献
