Electrochemical oxidation of metals, in solutions where the oxide is somewhat soluble, produces anodic oxides with highly regular arrangements of pores. Although porous aluminium and titanium oxides have found extensive use in functional nanostructures, pore initiation and self-ordering are not yet understood. Here we present an analysis that examines the roles of oxide dissolution and ionic conduction in the morphological stability of anodic films. We show that patterns of pores with a minimum spacing are possible only within a narrow range of the oxide formation efficiency (the fraction of oxidized metal atoms retained in the film), which should exist when the metal ion charge exceeds two. Experimentally measured efficiencies, over diverse anodizing conditions on both aluminium and titanium, lie within the different ranges predicted for each metal. On the basis of these results, the relationship between dissolution chemistry and the conditions for pore initiation can now be understood in quantitative terms.  相似文献

A twin-core fiber Michelson interferometer is evaluated as a high-temperature sensor. Although linear and reproducible operation up to 300°C is obtained, at higher temperatures (700°C) the refractive index shifts plastically and hysteresis is observed, rendering an untreated sensor head unusable. The shift is shown to be greatly reduced by an annealing process of the fiber for 10 h at 900°C, with which the linear response is preserved.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to analyze and compare some important institutional and legal preconditions for wind power development in three Nordic countries: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In the paper a number of historical, institutional and policy-related differences across these countries are highlighted, but most attention is paid to the various territorial planning procedures. The analysis suggests that although public economic support to wind power is necessary to promote its diffusion in the electricity system, similar policy instruments – in terms of both size and design – can induce significantly different developments depending on the legal preconditions for the location and environmental assessment of windmills. The success and failure stories of technology support policies can thus not easily be transferred across country borders. An important conclusion is that in comparison to Sweden the physical planning systems in both Denmark and Norway provide greater scope for implementing a national wind power policy at the local level. For instance, the Danish planning system is vertically integrated, and involves a designation of areas for wind power purposes in the local plans, while the municipalities in Sweden must in some way assent to (i.e., plan for) the establishment of windmills at a certain location in order for the installation to actually take place. Compared to its competitors, wind power is one of the power-generating technologies that tend to have the most to lose from the uncertainties created by planning regulations that leave much discretion to local authorities.  相似文献

Attention is a basic cognitive function necessary in most daily activities. Beneficial effects on cognitive abilities after exposure to nature have been reported. To explore if relaxation indoors and in nature differently affect directed attention and physiological measures, 51 participants (39 women) were measured on directed attention with the Necker Cube Pattern Control Test before and after a guided progressive relaxation session indoors and outdoors in nature. Additionally, systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate were measured before and after the relaxation. Participants’ environmental preference was explored. The main result showed an environmental effect on directed attention in favour of the natural environment. No similar environmental effect on physiological measures was seen. The results indicate that relaxation in natural environments had a positive effect on directed attention and hence could be an important component for preventive and rehabilitative interventions for stress-related symptoms.  相似文献

The European transmission grid is facing an investment challenge. There is a strong call for more transmission capacity. At the same time, the investment climate is fierce and troubled by public opposition, a complex regulatory framework, etc. Many transmission capacity expansion projects are delayed or canceled. In this paper different technology options suitable for increasing transmission capacity are discussed. The aim is to provide policy-makers with information on technologies without going too much into technical details. The focus is on opportunities and limitations to implement various technological alternatives in practice, including technical solutions that go beyond constructing new connection lines. The criteria used in this technology assessment are based on the obstacles reported in the European Priority Interconnection Plan. This ensures a realistic approach based on problems encountered in real projects. Although AC overhead lines (OHL) will remain the standard solution for grid expansion, it is argued that different technology options can overcome many obstacles that OHL face. Additionally, it is illustrated that the higher investment costs for some solutions can be offset with an increased benefit, e.g. by accomplishing investments with smaller delays due to fewer obstacles encountered.  相似文献

In the present work, the spontaneous dewetting of thin Au layers on single crystalline anatase nanosheets into narrow-disperse Au nanoparticles is investigated. Patterns of the Au particles can be formed on the main facets of anatase that provide a high co-catalytic activity for photocatalytic generation of H2. Dewetting is distinctly influenced by the respective facets (001) and (101), the deposit thickness, and secondary thermal dewetting, but most strongly by the surface termination of the nanosheets. Fluoride termination not only leads to an enhanced Au-phobic behavior but strongly affects the co-catalytic activity for photocatalytic generation of H2. While fluoride termination with or without Au decoration is detrimental for hole transfer, the interplay of the Au co-catalyst and surface fluoride yields highly beneficial effect for electron transfer. This results in a three-times higher photocatalytic H2 production for the F-terminated surface. The findings suggest that dewetting of Au on surface fluorinated TiO2 is an effective way to modulate surface dewetting and achieve a strongly enhanced photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Dual atmosphere conditions have been shown to be detrimental for the ferritic stainless steel interconnects used in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) under certain conditions. In the present work, we analyze the influence of pre-oxidation on corrosion resistance in dual atmosphere with regard to two parameters: the pre-oxidation time and the pre-oxidation location (pre-oxidation layer on the air-facing side or the hydrogen-facing side). The steel AISI 441 is investigated and pre-oxidation is achieved in air at 800 °C. To examine the influence of pre-oxidation time on corrosion behavior, five different pre-oxidation times are used: 0, 11, 45, 180, and 280 min. The samples are exposed discontinuously to dual atmosphere for 1000 h at 600 °C. Photographs, taken throughout the exposure, show that the pre-oxidation time correlates with the onset of breakaway corrosion. To analyze the influence of pre-oxidation location on corrosion behavior, the samples are pre-oxidized for 180 min, and then a pre-oxidation layer is removed from one side of the sample. Subsequent dual atmosphere exposure at 600 °C for 500 h shows that the pre-oxidation layer on the hydrogen-facing side is more important for corrosion resistance in dual atmosphere than the pre-oxidation layer on the air-facing side.  相似文献

A study has been carried out of nanotubular anodic films formed on titanium at 20 V in fluoride/glycerol electrolyte, containing up to 50 vol.% water. Anodizing was terminated at a charge of 1 C cm−2. Addition of water resulted in an increased current and significantly reduced tube length associated with increased oxygen gas evolution. Films formed in the absence of added water were amorphous by electron diffraction, whereas water addition also led to the formation of anatase and rutile. The barrier layer was relatively thin for electrolyte of low water content, due to either a voltage drop in the electrolyte close to the anode or to a change in the film composition affecting the electric field across the layer. Ribbing of the external walls of the nanotubes was more evident in the presence of water. It is suggested that dissolution of a fluoride-rich layer, which separates the nanotubes, accompanies the nanotube growth, with the dissolution allowing transient film formation at the external walls of the nanotubes when the residual layer is sufficiently thin.  相似文献

Grating growths through exposure of presensitized standard fibers to KrF light were recorded in various experimental condition. It is shown that there exists an optimum sensitization fluence at which the efficiency of the sensitization process is higher. Isochronal thermal annealing of pre-exposed fibers led to a decrease in the sensitization-induced enhancement of photosensitivity. IR-absorption spectroscopy was carried out in fibers or preform plates to monitor the attenuation ascribed to H-bearing species in the same samples. The annealing-induced decay in photosensitivity cannot be correlated with those of the H-bearing species in the whole temperature range (110 degrees C-800 degrees C). This indicates that the enhancement of photosensitivity comes from the transformation of more than one species.  相似文献
