In mobile communications, a class of variable‐complexity algorithms for convolutional decoding known as sequential decoding algorithms is of interest since they have a computational time that could vary with changing channel conditions. The Fano algorithm is one well‐known version of a sequential decoding algorithm. Since the decoding time of a Fano decoder follows the Pareto distribution, which is a heavy‐tailed distribution parameterized by the channel signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR), buffers are required to absorb the variable decoding delays of Fano decoders. Furthermore, since the decoding time drawn by a certain Pareto distribution can become unbounded, a maximum limit is often employed by a practical decoder to limit the worst‐case decoding time. In this paper, we investigate the relations between buffer occupancy, decoding time, and channel conditions in a system where the Fano decoder is not allowed to run with unbounded decoding time. A timeout limit is thus imposed so that the decoding will be terminated if the decoding time reaches the limit. We use discrete‐time semi‐Markov models to describe such a Fano decoding system with timeout limits. Our queuing analysis provides expressions characterizing the average buffer occupancy as a function of channel conditions and timeout limits. We investigate the characteristics of Cu2O thin films deposited through the addition of N2 gas. The addition of N2 gas has remarkable effects on the phase changes, resulting in improved electrical and optical properties. An intermediate phase (6CuO·Cu2O) appears at a N2 flow rate of 1 sccm, and a Cu2O (200) phase is then preferentially grown at a higher feeding amount of N2. The optical and electrical properties of Cu2O thin films are improved with a sufficient N2 flow rate of more than 15 sccm, as confirmed through various analyses. Under this condition, a high bandgap energy of 2.58 eV and a conductivity of 1.5×10?2 S/cm are obtained. These high‐quality Cu2O thin films are expected to be applied to Cu2O‐based heterojunction solar cells and optical functional films. 相似文献

The cuticles of insects and marine crustaceans are fascinating models for man‐made advanced functional composites. The excellent mechanical properties of these biological structures rest on the exquisite self‐assembly of natural ingredients, such as biominerals, polysaccharides, and proteins. Among them, the two commonly found building blocks in the model biocomposites are chitin nanofibers and silk‐like proteins with β‐sheet structure. Despite being wholly organic, the chitinous protein complex plays a key role for the biocomposites by contributing to the overall mechanical robustness and structural integrity. Moreover, the chitinous protein complex alone without biominerals is optically transparent (e.g., dragonfly wings), thereby making it a brilliant model material system for engineering applications where optical transparency is essentially required. Here, inspired by the chitinous protein complex of arthropods cuticles, an optically transparent biomimetic composite that hybridizes chitin nanofibers and silk fibroin (β‐sheet) is introduced, and its potential as a biocompatible structural platform for emerging wearable devices (e.g., smart contact lenses) and advanced displays (e.g., transparent plastic cover window) is demonstrated. 相似文献

ZnSe heteroepitaxial layers have been grown on GaAs (100), (110) on axis, and (110) 6° miscut substrates by molecular beam
epitaxy. ZnSe on GaAs (110) shows smooth and featureless spectra from Rutherford backscattering channeling measurements taken
along major crystalline directions, whereas ZnSe on GaAs (100) without pre-growth treatments exhibit large interface disorder
in channeling spectra. ZnSe films grown on GaAs (110) on axis show facet formation over a wide range of growth conditions.
The use of (110) 6° miscut substrates is shown to suppress facet formation; and under the correct growth conditions, facet-free
surfaces are achieved. Etch pit density measurements give dislocation densities for ZnSe epitaxial layers grown on GaAs (100),
(110) on axis, and (110) 6° miscut substrates of 107/cm2, 3 × 105/cm2 and 5 × 104/cm2, respectively. These results suggest that with further improvements to ZnSe growth on GaAs (110)-off substrates it may be

Chemical beam epitaxial (CBE) GaxIn1?xP layers (x≈0.5) grown on (001) GaAs substrates at temperatures ranging from 490 to 580°C have been investigated using transmission electron diffraction (TED), transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence (PL). TED examination revealed the presence of diffuse scattering 1/2{111}B positions, indicating the occurrence of typical CuPt-type ordering in the GaInP CBE layers. As the growth temperature decreased from 580 to 490°C, maxima in the intensity of the diffuse scattering moved from ½{111}B to ½{?1+δ,1?δ,0} positions, where δ is a positive value. As the growth temperature increased from 490 to 550°C, the maxima in the diffuse scattering intensity progressively approached positions of $\frac{1}{2}\{\bar 110\} $ , i.e., the value of δ decreased from 0.25 to 0.17. Bandgap reduction (~45 meV) was observed in the CBE GaInP layers and was attributed to the presence of ordered structures. 相似文献

Transmission electron diffraction (TED) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) studies have been made of organometallic
vapor phase epitaxial GaxIn1−xP layers (x ≈ 0.5) grown at temperatures in the range 570–690°C to investigate ordering and ordered domain structures. TED
and TEM examination shows that the size and morphology of ordered domains depend on the growth temperature. The ordered domains
change from a fine rod-like shape to a plate-like shape as the growth temperature increases. The domains are of width 0.6∼2
nm and of length 1∼10 nm. Characteristic diffuse features observed in TED patterns are found to depend on the growth temperature.
Extensive computer simulations show a direct correlation between the ordered domain structures and such diffuse features.
A possible model is suggested to describe the temperature dependence of the ordered domain structure. 相似文献

An efficient algorithm which detects and tracks a moving object is proposed. The global motion energy caused by camera movement is eliminated by finding the maximal matching position with the cross-correlation value between two consecutive frames using the spiral scanning technique. A new offset-trimming bit-line sensing scheme is described which is suitable for gigabit-scale DRAM's. This sensing scheme can suppress the sensitivity degradation caused by the large electrical parameter variation of deep submicron transistors. The effective offset voltage dependence on trimming time is analyzed and verified with simulation results. As compared with a conventional direct sensing scheme, the proposed scheme shows remarkable improvement on the sensitivity. A three-dimensional modelling approach is used to study the effects of operating and ambient conditions on the thermal behaviour of a NESSCAP 2.7 V/3500 F ultracapacitor cell for a 42-V automotive electrical system. The rate of heat generation of the ultracapacitor during charge and discharge is measured with a calorimeter. The transient temperature distribution of the ultracapacitor during cycling is obtained by using the finite element method with an implicit predictor-multicorrector algorithm. The results show that the temperature of the ultracapacitor cell increases during the first 50 cycles after which it reaches a periodic steady-state value that increases with increasing ambient temperature. 相似文献

Graphene has been gradually studied as a high‐frequency transmission line material owing to high carrier mobility with frequency independence up to a few THz. However, the graphene‐based transmission lines have poor conductivity due to their low carrier concentration. Here, it is observed that the radio frequency (RF) transmission performance could be severely hampered by the defect‐induced scattering, even though the carrier concentration is increased. As a possible solution, the deposition of the amorphous carbon on the graphene is studied in the high‐frequency region up to 110 GHz. The DC resistance is reduced by as much as 60%, and the RF transmission property is also enhanced by 3 dB. Also, the amorphous carbon covered graphene shows stable performance under a harsh environment. These results prove that the carrier concentration control is an effective and a facile method to improve the transmission performance of graphene. It opens up the possibilities of using graphene as interconnects in the ultrahigh‐frequency region. 相似文献
