This paper aims at investigating experimentally the pressure drop during air flow in six different aluminum open-cell foam samples with different number of pores per inch (PPI) and different porosity under a wide range of air mass flow rate. Three imposed heat fluxes are considered for each foam sample. The collected pressure drop data are analysed with reference to models available in the literature. A new simple pressure drop model, based on present data, has then been developed. The consistency of the proposed model is finally checked by comparison to data available in the literature from different laboratories.  相似文献

Laser irradiation of ZnO:Al/Ag/ZnO:Al transparent contacts is investigated for segmentation purposes. The quality of the irradiated areas has been experimentally evaluated by separation resistance measurements, and the results are complemented with a thermal model used for numerical simulations of the laser process. The presence of the Ag interlayer plays two key effects on the laser scribing process by increasing the maximum temperature reached in the structure and accelerating the cool down process. These evidences can promote the use of ultra-thin ZnO:Al/Ag/ZnO:Al electrode in large-area products, such as for solar modules.  相似文献

Plant phenolics have been for many years a theme of major scientific and applied interest. Grape berry phenolics contribute to organoleptic properties, color and protection against environmental challenges. Climate change has already caused significant warming in most grape-growing areas of the world, and the climatic conditions determine, to a large degree, the grape varieties that can be cultivated as well as wine quality. In particular, heat, drought and light/UV intensity severely affect phenolic metabolism and, thus, grape composition and development. In the variety Chardonnay, water stress increases the content of flavonols and decreases the expression of genes involved in biosynthesis of stilbene precursors. Also, polyphenolic profile is greatly dependent on genotype and environmental interactions. This review deals with the diversity and biosynthesis of phenolic compounds in the grape berry, from a general overview to a more detailed level, where the influence of environmental challenges on key phenolic metabolism pathways is approached. The full understanding of how and when specific phenolic compounds accumulate in the berry, and how the varietal grape berry metabolism responds to the environment is of utmost importance to adjust agricultural practices and thus, modify wine profile.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a basic problem in system identification, that of estimating the unknown parameters of a given model by using input/output data. Available methods (extended Kalman filtering, unscented Kalman filtering, particle filtering, maximum likelihood, prediction error method, etc.) have been extensively studied in the literature, especially in relation to consistency analysis. Yet, other important aspects, such as computational complexity, have been somewhat overlooked so that, when such methods are used in practical problems, remarkable drawbacks may arise. This is why parameter estimation is often performed using empirical procedures. This paper aims to revisit the issue of setting up an estimator that is able to provide reliable estimates at low computational cost. In contrast to other paradigms, the main idea in the new introduced two‐stage estimation method is to retrieve the estimator through simulation experiments in a training phase. Once training is terminated, the user is provided with an explicitly given estimator that can be used over and over basically with no computational effort. The advantages and drawbacks of the two‐stage approach as well as other traditional paradigms are identified with an illustrative example. This paper shows two applications of a theory of part-whole relations that has been introduced in [1] in two different areas: natural language semantics and modelling parts of physical objects. A short overview of the theory will be given, followed by two sections which present results in the two application areas. In Section 2 we provide an analysis of the domain of solid objects like devices, buildings and other artifacts of our daily life. We first examine in more detail the relevant part-whole relations in that domain. The second part describes how these relations can be represented and manipulated in a hybrid system. In Section 3 it will be shown that there is a strong and immediate correspondence between classes of part-whole-relations and syntactically or lexically motivated classes of genitive constructions. The two applications illustrate the generality of the theory as well as its usefulness for representing and reasoning about part-whole information in totally different domains.  相似文献

In this paper a novel CAD methodology for yield enhancement of VLSI CMOS circuits including random device variations is presented. The methodology is based on a preliminary characterization of the technological process by means of specific test chips for accurate mismatch modeling. To this purpose, a very accurate position-dependent parameter mismatch model has been formulated and extracted. Finally a CAD tool implementing this model has been developed. The tool is fully integrated in an environment of existing commercial tools and it has been experimented in the STMicroelectronics Flash Memory CAD Group.As an example of application, a bandgap reference circuit has been considered and the results obtained from simulations have been compared with experimental data. Furthermore, the methodology has been applied to the read path of a complex Flash Memory produced by STMicroelectronics, consisting of about 16,000 MOSFETs. Measurements of electrical performances have confirmed the validity of the methodology, and the accuracy of both the mismatch model and the simulation flow.  相似文献

We propose an aging mechanism which develops in artificial bacterial populations fighting against antibiotic molecules. The mechanism is based on very elementary information gathered by each individual and elementary reactions as well. Though we do not interpret the aging process in strictly biological terms, it appears compliant with recent studies on the field, and physically feasible. The root of the aging mechanism is an adaptation strategy based on a thresholding operation that derives from theoretical results on stochastic monotone games. The methods for implementing it denote their rationale in that they represent a sophisticated dialect of pi-calculus, a widespread computational paradigm for implementing dynamics of massive populations with bipolar reactions. As a result we may implement processes that explain some typical patterns of the evolution of the immunosystems.  相似文献
