Spontaneous Sn whisker growth is a surface relief phenomenon of creep, driven by a compressive stress gradient. No externally
applied stress is required for the growth, and the compressive stress is generated within, from the chemical reaction between
Sn and Cu to form the intermetallic compound Cu6Sn5 at room temperature. To obtain the compressive stress gradient, a break of the protective oxide on the Sn surface is required
because the free surface of the break is stress-free. Thus, spontaneous Sn whisker growth is unique that stress relaxation
accompanies stress generation. One of the whisker challenging issues in understanding and in finding effective methods to
prevent spontaneous Sn whisker growth is to develop accelerated tests of whisker growth. Use of electromigration on short
Sn stripes can facilitate this. The stress distribution around the vicinity and the root of a whisker can be obtained by using
the micro-beam X-ray diffraction utilizing synchrotron radiation. A discussion of how to prevent spontaneous Sn whisker growth

The current study prospectively followed girls with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), along with a matched comparison sample, 5 years after childhood neuropsychological assessments. Follow-up neuropsychological measures emphasized attentional skills, executive functions, and language abilities. Paralleling childhood findings, the childhood-diagnosed ADHD group displayed moderate to large deficits in executive/attentional performance as well as in rapid naming relative to the comparison group at follow up (Mage 14.2 years). ADHD-inattentive versus ADHD-combined contrasts were nonsignificant and of negligible effect size, even when a refined, sluggish cognitive tempo subgroup of the inattentive type was examined. Although ADHD versus comparison group differences largely withstood statistical control of baseline demographics and comorbidities, control of childhood IQ reduced executive function differences to nonsignificance. Yet when the subset of girls meeting diagnostic criteria for ADHD in adolescence was compared with the remainder of the participants, neuropsychological deficits emerged even with full statistical control. Samples can be measured with different precisions and reliabilities in different experiments, or even within the same experiment. These varying levels of measurement noise may deteriorate the performance of a pattern recognition system, if not treated with care. Here we seek to investigate the benefit of incorporating prior knowledge about measurement noise into system construction. We propose a kernel density classifier which integrates such prior knowledge. Instead of using an identical kernel for each sample, we transform the prior knowledge into a distinct kernel for each sample. The integration procedure is straightforward and easy to interpret. In addition, we show how to estimate the diverse measurement noise levels in a real world dataset. Compared to the basic methods, the new kernel density classifier can give a significantly better classification performance. As expected, this improvement is more obvious for small sample size datasets and large number of features. 相似文献

We have developed a mutant strain derived from Agrobacterium sp. ATCC 31750, which produces a water-soluble polysaccharide having potential utility to the food, feed, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. A high concentration of product (15 g/L) is obtained by 48 h cultivation of the mutant strain under optimized fermentation conditions. The water-soluble polysaccharide obtained from cultures of the mutant strain beta82 has Glc:Man:Gal in approximate molar ratios of 5.8:6.7:1.0. The molecular weight of the polysaccharide was determined to be approximately 1000 kDa by HPSEC analysis. Linkage analysis contained 3-Glcp, 3-Manp, terminal Glcp and terminal Manp, as well as a small proportion of 3- and 3,4-Galp, and 4,6-Manp residues. Based on analyses using FT-IR and 13C NMR spectrometers, most glycosidic bonds joining these sugar residues are of the α-type, and acetyl groups are apparently attached to the polymer chain at random. 相似文献

Nanosized (2–8 nm) amorphous powders of the solid solution based on zirconia and hafnia are synthesized through back coprecipitation
upon treatment of gels at temperatures from +20 to −77°C. Heat treatment of these powders at temperatures up to 1000 and above
1100°C leads to the formation of cubic (fluorite type, O
h
5 = Fm3m) and tetragonal phases of the Zr82Hf10Y3Ce5O
x
composition, respectively. It is revealed that a decrease in the synthesis temperature (from +20°C to −6°C) results in a
decrease in the size of gel agglomerates from 30 to 1 μm. Recrystallization processes in the gels prepared using cryochemical
treatment are developed very slowly in the temperature range 500–1200°C (the crystallite size does not exceed 25 nm).
